She was a mom, thus she had a relatively good barometer read on all of her kids as eclectic as they sometimes were, they shared her and her husband in common. She had recently been noticing certain habits appear that indicated nervousness. In one of the younger ones it would make sense. But it was Thallassa who couldnt sit still, whose appetite had waned somewhat from wartime janarim to recently fed radaku. It was sending off warning bells.
“Kiyelt, you dont think that something is going on with the kids do you? Thal has been behaving… oddly.”

“Hmmm? The kids? You know if it had been Ein and Ushi I would say yes definitely something is up but Thal? Our Thallassa? He has too much common sense. Perhaps its an itch to leave home or perhaps he has a crush, you know how hard that is on the young ones.” Non worried, that was her job. It was his job to scan what was bugging her and suss out if there was a threat or problem to be solved. “What have you noticed?”

“Well he hasn’t been eating all that much, kinda twitchier than normal, never sotting still, I don’t even see him read anymore he just picks the book up then a moment later puts it down.” He never behaved like this. Thallassa of the beast tamers was the calmest along with Kiyelt. “Its just not normal.” She insisted, and it had been going on for quite a few months now. She wanted to know what was bothering her son but wasn’t sure how to ask him.

“Yes that does seem off kilter for him.” Kiyelt sroked his chin as was his habit. “Lad must be going through something but we have no way of knowing what until he comes out and tells us. I feel he is mature enough that if it were very serious he would tell us. He is the most mature of the bunch at this point.”
He stood and wrapped his arms around Ninaeleth. “I know you are worried but I am convinced it can’t be too bad of a thing.”

She fidgeted. If it were not serious would he be behaving this way? Something is bothering my baby Kiyelt, not like when Ny is annoyed at the world or Ein who fixes ber problems with a stick. Thal is sensitive and I want to help him somehow.”
She paced back and forth, her ritual tea, laying forgotten on a stand beside her. “Im so suspicious, he hasn’t said anything to let me onto the scent trail of what is going on.”

She was so cute when she was frustrated and on the hunt like this. Nin cared so very much for her whole family. Each individual shone with their own individual brilliance in her eyes and he loved her all the more for it.
He stood and drew her close. “Nin, hey, its okay, we will figure it out eventually, don’t worry.”
He held her and felt her shudder mildy. He patted her back and stroked her hair, slowly drawing her into a gentle slow dance.

Kiyelt knew the right thing to say at the right time. He was a good husband overall if a little prone to dangerous things and critters. He almost always got out unscathed and hopefully the kids got that lucky too.
Whatever was bothering Thallassa, she couldn't fix it now.
"Okay Grandpa." She whispered sweetly in his ear.

"I still don't feel old enough to be a grandpa, but I guess Ushi fixed that didn't he. Funny, Thal being that much older I thought he would be the one to do it. Kina still has some soul searching to do and Honi still seems younger on the inside then the other two."
It was both gratifying and hard to watch your kids grow up and start having kids of their own. His grandkids brought him infinite joy.

She smiled evily. She had known that would get a rise out of him. "Well at least we still have Kynin and Tethys!" They were too young to get up to too much trouble. "You want more don't you?" She teased him. "That is what grandkids are for! So we can snuggle them and then give them back to their parents! Its perfect! Maybe pump them full of honey first and watch them zip around!"
"I was surprised when Ushi had two girls, but happy. It might drive him crazy if Ny or Thal have a boy though."

"He has always been ultra competitive with the older two, excluding Honi. He likes her but then we all do. Especially competitive with Thal. Must be a brother thing. Where Thal, doesn't really care to compete unless he feels like it. Drives Ushi mad it does."
His own siblings were so young that there really was no competition but he was happy that his parents had someone in Zena with them.
He missed them but not enough to move back. Too cold!

"He obviously gets that from your side of the family. I claim Honi." She smirked saucily at her husband, knowing full well that Honi got her sweet side from both her parents and apparently none of the more scary traits that were spread among the rest of their brood. She was happy to have such a huge faimily and with Ushi and Sae's children coming along it had started to grow again. And the best part was that she didn't have to be the one waddling around unable to bend over properly this time but she still got all the perks of having adorable little ones around.

"Hah! Have you seen you angry? You make them all take notice, however you bury it so deep that everyone forgets its there, but I don't. I love that part of you because I know that you will never be defenseless with it."
He sashayed her into a dip and kissed her full on the mouth.
"You sure you don't want any more kids Nin, I mean you have me right here right now, the world's hottest ...grandpa." He changed his voice into that of a quivering old man.

She burst out laughing mid dip. Unable to help herself she let herself cackle there suspended in his arms.
"My gods the look on your face there was priceless! I think not fair knight, my child bearing years are over, seven is a lucky number anyhow! Besides, we have to keep on our toes to chase grandkids around. Do you really think after inheriting our good looks that our kids will stop at two?"
Though from the looks of things Kynin might have to adopt..if he kept biting that oban boy into their majority. Their bond drove Tethys mad, mostly because at two they then outnumbered him.

He loved making her laugh. He pulled them both up and then spooned some hearty stew that Thal had made into a bowl after it had been heating up over the hearth fire.
"At least Thal is a decent cook, even if the only thing he seems to be able to make is potatoes and stew."
He reverently held a spoonful out to Nin. "No I dont think our family legacy will begin and end with the two girls, but at least it has started. Arn't they cute? I love that Ushi got a mini me and that Elaxi took all the gorgeous from both her parents and put a great spin on it. I doubt those two will fight and split ways, I bet that lil Kechi will protect Elaxi for as long as she draws breath.

"True, I wish he would master a different dish so that every seven day when its his turn it need not be stew every single time, even chili! Pop some beans in there and some different spice. Though it is probably the best stew in Matori." She took a mouthful of their families cyclical staple and sighed with pleasure. "Bring me my own bowl please love, I got to get in on this."
She stuffed her face. Call it what you like but it certainly filled you up and kept you full.
