Henny had her skateboard under her arm as she walked about the festival. She had done pretty much everything there was to do at the festival and she was having a decent time. She frowned when she came upon a table with a really weird-looking guy. She shrugged it off as a guy in costume and nothing more. "So what is this table about?" She asked curiosity in her tone. She wasn't sure what this was but she wanted to know and she had a feeling this was going to be interesting. She just had to wait and see where this would lead.

The merchant raised his brow at the girl and tilted his head just slightly. “I’m a merchant,” he said, friendly enough but with something like practiced patience. “On this table, you’ll find many of my priceless treasures. I’ve brought them for the purpose of sharing–that is, trading–on my quest to acquire new treasures. Perhaps you’ve come to make a deal? Tell me a bit about yourself, perhaps I can find you something charming to take home with you.” For a trade, of course. “I’ve got jewelry, I’ve got books, I’ve got tools and trinkets and treasures of all sorts. What have you brought for me?”

Henny considered she didn't really have anything besides her skateboard, it was important to her and she said "I've got my skateboard, what would you trade me for it?" She gave him a look, like you better not call my prized possession a piece of junk. She expected that from most people and she didn't want to hear it from this guy but she was ready to walk away if that was the case or she would offer him random stuff from her pocket. If that didn't work she was out of luck and oh well maybe another time.

The merchant pursed his lips and leaned back a bit, cupping his chin in thought. “I don’t know,” he said slowly, now stroking his chin. “I’ve never seen one in person. You can do tricks on it, can’t you? Show me one, and then we’ll talk.” He didn’t seem like he was judging her but he did seem like he had a genuine interest to see what she could do with it. The hill was covered in grass and had a bit of a slope, but he gestured for her to come behind his table–where there was a perfect flat piece of ground. It looked like he’d prepared the surface specifically for his arrival and laid out a smooth sheet of what looked like cement, although it was too clean and polished to have just been out and exposed to the elements.

Henny smiled and took her board and she went to do a few tricks. She took to the curb near the table and popped and did a trick off the curb flipping her board and then landing on it again. She loved this old board, but she didn't have much else to offer and she wanted to see what this guy at the table had to offer. She would judge as well if she was willing to part with her skateboard. She stopped in front of him and did another trick jumping and spinning the board under her feet before landing and popping the board up to catch it in her hand again. "So how was that, I'd show you something more impressive if I had a ramp or stairs." She had a few things running around her head as she wondered lately what was going on in the city and why it was going on. There had to be a reason. She wanted to know she wasn't content to stay in the dark forever. She had other plans for her life, well sorta she had her plan and she was going to go forward with her life anyways.

The merchant clapped enthusiastically. “Oh, perfect. Marvelous. You humans will never cease to amaze me, you’re so creative. That was wonderful. Come here, let me find something for you. What do you like, shiny things? Books? Are you an artist? I’ve got some fancy paints. Honestly, I’ve got a little bit of everything. Lights that never burn out? Music boxes? You’ve earned a nice prize, I think. And I’m feeling generous.”

Henny smiled she was glad that her trade was accepted and respected. "Tell I don't need anything musical or books, a necklace or something would be cool I guess.. or something that can help me find my path." She said thinking of this strange city. "This city is like a weird wood it's hard to find your way."

“What if it’s a necklace and a compass? It’s special,” he leaned underneath his table and fished around before he drew out a box, and within it was an old, coppery necklace. A five pointed star was gilded onto the back. There were no cardinal directions, only a thin, golden arrow that spun in a slow circle until he held it out to her. Inside, it looked like an iridescent galaxy, and the stars even seemed to glow a bit. “It’s supposed to help you find your way. To help you get to where you’re supposed to be.”

Henny nodded and said "You have a deal." She smiled and took the necklace, she had a feeling that it would be useful to her and well worth trading her favorite skateboard for. She would have to get a new skateboard and break it in. This meeting however was special so it wasn't a chance she wanted to pass up.

The merchant seemed delighted with this. “ Excellent. A good exchange, then. The next time I see you, you’ll have to show me some more tricks. Maybe I’ll learn some I can teach you, hm?” His tail was twitching behind him, a visible expression of what a good mood he was in. Maybe it was because of the skateboard, or maybe it was just because she seemed so happy. Either way, he seemed pleased with how this had turned out.
