Rifts (12) : Maybe it’s a trick of the eye. Maybe it’s a firework, or it’s too hot and you’re seeing things. Maybe something is actually just wrong. Strange tears are appearing throughout the city, as though something has clawed right through reality. Maybe you can’t exactly see it, but you definitely feel it. There are strange, cold pockets, and random air currents even in closed rooms. These strange rifts either appear transparent or, if you are close enough, you might see a strange blackness inside. Sometimes you can make out a strange sound, like a croak or a wail, but nothing ever comes out. There’s something magnetic about these weird rifts and it’s almost as if they’re trying to suck you up. They appear and disappear randomly, and quickly, and never show up on film.
There were many things strange about Destiny City, Fang was coming to realize. It was probably mostly the Chaos presence, because he was pretty sure rifts in reality tearing themselves into existence and then folding up and disappearing with an odd belch of air wasn't anything that had happened on his own world, not until Chaos had come, and even then, he couldn't be sure it had happened at all, because he didn't pay enough attention back then to anything more than the actual monsters invading, staining their wonderful planet until it was covered in darkness and death and rotting stench.
So sure it was all up to Chaos, in fact, that he growled under his breath constantly as he went out and hunted down a Chaos signature as another of this strange rifts popped up by him and wailed at him. He needed to attack. Make a point. Protect his territory.
"Go away!" he barked sharply at the senshi once he found the other, ready to fight, fur all standing on end and eyes practically spitting fire.
He refused to allow any of the Chaos havoc-wreakers be around the place he'd come to call home. A home he'd grown to love deeply in his short time being here. A home filled with good people who were happy to help him learn how to be human, so he could blend in until he could get enough help fixing his real home that he could go back and stay there. He'd still visit, but... Only if Chaos stayed away from his planet. Decided that his planet was totally dead so it stayed away for good. Because if it came back after he healed his planet, he'd have to stay and fight it once again. Start the thousand year cycle all over again. Though he desperately hoped it wouldn't be like that.
So here he stood, staring down someone who was Chaos, on the side of the murderers, and growling fiercely, the star charm he'd found earlier burning a hole in his pocket and giving him strength, the little trinket a piece of the Earth he cared so deeply about.

Something strange was going on, and Fafnir did not much like it. The odd sounds and cold air, the flickers of things he only half saw. It put him on edge and made gathering quota even more perilous than before, as he was never sure what the flickering in the corner of his vision was.
After the nine hundredth time he'd flinched at something that wasn't there, he'd almost disregarded this latest movement before a voice called out to him and he jumped. The corrupt swore as he turned, putting on a false smile as he spread his arm.
"Hey there! Sorry, I didn't know this was your area." He said as he got a look at the senshi that had ambushed him. A young man, probably with an animal sphere considering those ears and tail. First stage, which made him feel a little bit better about all this. As long as he was careful, and this little ******** didn't call in back up, he should be able to handle him.
Maybe teach him not to run up on someone stronger than he was. A body could get hurt doing that.
"I'd really rather not fight you... maybe we both just go our separate ways, hmm?" He said as he spread his arms, his hands open to show empty palms.
His tail lashed behind him again and he growled deeper in his throat. "Chaos dies," he hissed.
He didn't care about the surrendering motions (not safenot safeliar liar liar). He didn't care, in the moment, about the fact that he had a friend in Chaos (friendhungryconfusion), though from a very different faction. All he saw was someone Chaos who had shown up around him not long after he'd started seeing the flashes of whooshy blackness stuff, that felt cold and screamed and made him want to claw his ears off.
"Slash!" he shouted, hoping his magic would come to his call (please work please work), that it would succeed and punish (punish hurt hurt Chaos evilpunish punish punish!!!) this transgressor for ever daring to show his Chaos-infused, disgusting little face around here. For daring to give up on his world and let himself be a little feeder for Chaos. For pretending as if he cared even one whit about the planet he lived on when Chaos would swallow it all up eventually.

Fang swipes once at his target, and the ghostly paw of a Chrysocyon with claws extended springs forth, causing the appearance and sensation of shallow scratches that burn slightly if it hits. This lasts for about thirty seconds, has three uses, and has a range of ten feet. This can tear through clothes or can cause lasting damage at player discretion.

The smile on Fafnir's face froze, practically growing icicles as the temperature between them seemed to drop. Well, no one could say he hadn't tried with this one. He'd tried to back off, tried to deflect. It wasn't his fault, in the end.
Blue eyes darkened as Fafnir dropped his arms, his smile more like toothy than it had been, and far less friendly. He heard the shout that called up magic and he braced himself, unsure what form it was going to take. There wasn't much room to maneuver in this dark back alley, random trash scattered across the concrete to make footing more difficult for someone with their attention on an assailant. He felt luck there was at least some light from a street lamp on the corner... but it hardly mattered, because what came from him was pale, transparent, and very, very sharp.
Fafnir jerked and dodged as a clawed paw shot towards him, catching his shoulder as he turned to avoid it. His uniform shredded and his skin burned where thin red lines appeared.
"Mother <********>..." He hissed as his lips curled in a snarl. Snapping his head back to find the puny little order senshi who had the audacity to make trouble with him... he snarled as he called up his own magic. An eye for an eye was fair, wasn't it?
"Wither and die." Fafnir growled, drawing in a deep breath that swelled his chest. Pursing his lips, the corrupted senshi blew a long, sharp breath, expelling what looked like a sickly, purple cloud of smoke. It boiled across the space between them, rolling along the ground and spreading as he aimed to envelope his attacker. A rank smell followed, all enveloping, and the smoke itself was sticky, thick and cloying. It spread, growing wider and wider, and Fafnir felt the warmth of satisfaction.
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Fafnir's Blight Fafnir blows out a cloud of sickly purple gas that saps the energy and health of those who stumble into it. Those caught within the cone will see signs of disease on expose skin and eyes, and are significantly sickened by it as it saps their energy and health, affecting their performance. The gas can travel up to ten feet, but fades away after a few seconds. The effect can last up to 30 seconds. Breathing does not affect it, and he can use it twice per battle.
Fang smirked viciously as his attack worked, for once. Good. Then the fog rolled in, and he scampered backwards, tried to get away, but in enveloped him, choking him as he tried not to breathe, but it didn't seem to matter as he fell to his knees, shaking and shivering and drooling heavily. His stomach heaved at the sight of the sores on his skin, but he managed to keep it down, shutting his ruined eyes to not need to focus on it. The smell wrenched into his nose, but the smell he could deal with. He'd smelled a lot of bad things in his time. Just breathe. Get through it.
Then he remembered he was still having to deal with a person who was going to try to hurt him while he was down, most likely, and his eyes snapped back open to watch the corrupt senshi, growling low in his throat.
"Bad boy," he ground out.

The last of the smoke left his lips and Fafnir waited only long enough for it to clear enough that he could get eyes on his opponent before he darted forward. The senshi was on the ground, sending a wicked pleasure surging through Fafnir at the sight.
This little... puppy was going to find out why it had been a bad idea to pick a fight with him. For all that he was pretty, avoided fighting, and chose to work for one of the less aggressive branches, he was not as soft as people thought he was. Labyrinthite had not allowed softness when it came to combat, and the lessons he had beat into Fafnir had stayed with him, driving him to keep his skills sharp even months after his transfer.
He grabbed at the boy's throat, intent on carrying him back to slam into the brick wall behind them. Maybe if he just applied enough force, he could knock some much needed sense into him, and maybe, just maybe, he'd learn not to mess with people like Fafnir.
Fang howled as he was lifted and slammed into the brick wall, head jolting, and his nails dug into Fafnir's hands at his throat.
"Bad boy," he managed to snarl again, focusing on breathing.
He hadn't fought an actual person in so long, it was hard to remember that they could actually think. Not like animals. This was... a losing fight, and that scared him.

Anser did not like a quiet patrol.
While her brother always took the impression that if he didn't feel anything, at least the area he was patrolling was safe, she truly felt she was just missing something. In Destiny City there was never a night that was actually quiet. It was quiet in one area, there were people being murdered in another.
And so, the moment she felt something that felt like an uneven match between a basic senshi and a corrupted super senshi, she charged after it.
She had not been expecting to see essentially what looked more like a dog-human--could senshi transform as furries?--being choked out, but nevertheless she knew she had to act. Her power was murmured under her breath without even thinking and she charged into the scene. Hands around neck, heading to a wall...
She used the advantage of their height differential to get herself aimed underneath his arms and then punched upwards with the intention of dislodging the corrupt senshi's grip.

one Anser to the rescue, coming right up!

Geese are known for being great guards. Anser says her attack name and a few ethereal geese appear in front of her, honking. After the geese honk out their warning, Anser and other allies within a ten-foot radius find that their reflexes are enhanced, allowing them to either better fight back physically or put some distance between themselves and whatever danger there may be. (Usage: Twice per battle Duration: 30 seconds Range: 10ft radius)
The senshi struggling in his grip had all of his focus, enough that when an eternal burst onto the scene, he had very little time to react. Suddenly there were... geese? Some sort of winged fury, honking like the hounds of hell at him and the eternal was up and in his face, swinging for him.
He took the hit hard, even as he jerked back to release the boy he held and remove himself from the melee. Aching with the force of it, he jumped back and took quick stock of the sudden change in situation.
Honestly, the math was ridiculously easy. He was only a super. One eternal, let alone one with another basic, was more than he felt comfortable facing alone. Push came to shove, he might manage, but there was no reason to seek out certain injury and very-probable failure. He hadn't even wanted to start this fight. Definitely not going to hang around and get his a** beaten over nothing.
Face twisted in annoyance, he sneered at the eternal and teleported away.
Better to retreat and live to fight another day, right?
