The Fairies (7) : The City has been lit up for the Star Festival with banners and twinkling decorations strewn off the windowsills of shop fronts and windows. The gardeners at one particular park have put their heart and soul into creating a fairy's paradise: Fairy lights have been carefully dangled from trees to make strings of stars, little beaded jewels have been hidden among the hedges, and even the old cobwebs have been sprayed with just a touch of glitter. The park is open to everyone and the citizens of Destiny City have been invited to respectfully explore the hidden wonders that have been placed throughout. The park is magical enough on its own but there have also been reports of a strange, ethereal and shimmering stranger in the park. The glimmer of a beautiful costumed figure fluttering through the park has been passed around as rumor, and no matter what anyone claims to see, no one can take a picture of it. As if simply seeing some magical figure isn’t mysterious enough, there are also reports of mischief and small pranks being played at the same time this figure seems to appear.

Acatea was powered up as corrupt senshi of the harvest. She was walking through the forest and she saw people walking to hunting for faeries it was so silly. There was no such thing. There were odd things but nothing that odd. She watched as people searched with wide eyes looking for something with sparkling wings. She snorted to herself and kept walking along. Then she felt something hit the back of her head. She turned and saw an acorn on the ground. She looked up into the trees to see if she saw some angry squirrels but didn't see anything.

Alexander wandered his way through the park, smiling at the little houses and string lights set aside for the fair folk. He had always had a more thematic and storied view of mythologies like that, but he'd still never be caught saying such entities couldn't ever exist. He wasn't about to get put in a curse, no way. He slowed as he came upon a young woman, looking up into the trees above. His own eyes moved up to glance at them, looking back down to her a moment later. With a small smile he stopped, waving at her gently. "Did one of the folk get a prank off on you?"

Actaea blinked she wasn't expecting anyone to come and talk to her so she was caught off guard by him talking to her. "Huh, what are you talking about?" She was dressed oddly but it was a festival so it wasn't totally weird. She didn't think there were really faeries in the forest come on. Who was going to believe that nonsense? "You don't believe the rumors do you?" She snorted out and then laughed "Come on now, this is a weird city but it's not that weird." She turned to walk away and was hit with another acorn.

Alexander's eyes tried to follow the acorn, losing sight of it where it may have come from quickly. He looked back to the woman, shrugging playfully. "I'm just saying, I haven't be struck by any acorns, yet."He glanced around quickly after speaking, expecting the irony to come for him soon. With a slow look around the treetops he turned back to her, smiling. "And the city is just weird enough for faeries, I think. You've got to admit, just a little?"An acorn thwacked against the back of his head, a frown crossing his lips as he reached up to rub the back of his head. There was that irony.

Actaea sighed deeply as she listened to the guy talk and if he was right that meant the creatures liked him and not her. Considering the darkness and chaos she carried these days it wasn't too surprising. "They must like you then." She shielded herself with her hand to block the acorns that kept coming at her now and then. Nothing too horrible but she didn't want to stick around there in the forest for too long with creepy critters throwing stuff at her. "This city is so weird, nothing is ever normal around here." She said shaking her head.

"Yeah, plenty weird," Alexander said as he rubbed the back of his head. "I've heard that when the faeries are mad at you, you can appease them by giving an offering. Maybe we should do that? There's a little treat stand not too far back, could grab something and offer it."Alexander looked to the woman with a smile, offering his arm to her in welcome. A total stranger, but he acted as if they had known one another already. It was either kind or scary, depending.

Actaea nodded it was worth a try anyway and she was tired of getting hit by stuff. She went to a vendor and bought some star cakes and laid them by the trees. Then she stepped back and waited to see what would happen. She was curious if the boy was right or if they were overly optimistic and these were the type of fairies that would sooner lead someone into the swamp to die rather than grant their wishes for being kind to them. There was only one way to find out and that was to try so she waited to see what the result would be.

Alexander smiled to Actaea, joining her in the sweets run. He purchased some donuts from the vendor, hoping the playful star shape would add to the fun. By the same tree he laid out his offering, muttering a small "For you, my friends," to the open air around the tree. Stepping back from the tree and standing by Actaea's side, he waited. If nothing was tossed at them, then he supposed it was a success? He wasn't sure if faeries were still really-real, but better safe than sorry in his book. "I'm Alex, by the way," he murmured to Actaea.

She nodded to him and waited as nothing else was thrown she had guessed that he was right as to how to deal with the fae. Give them sweets it made sense. She turned to him and said "I'm Actaea." She said simply and then said "Thanks." She had been surprised that it had worked. She was happy it had worked since she had grown tired of having things thrown at her. She spotted a couple of star charms on the ground and she rolled her eyes the things were littering the city she picked them up and offered one to Alex. The one she picked up was a golden color.

"Nice to meet you, Actaea," Alexander said with a smile. "Even if it was under assault by the fae."When no further acorn shots came he nodded in relief, looking down to the star charm she offered. A blue one! He grinned at her, taking the charm and looping it into his pocket. "Well, I guess that's their part of the trade then. Certainly an interesting way to spend part of the night... I hope the rest of your night stays less nutty." The grin on his face was priceless and terrible all at the same time. MiddyGlow I'm good to call it after your next post, if you'd like!

She nodded and said "Thanks." Then she took her leave she had hung out with the civilian long enough after all. (Fin)
