There was supposed to be a meteor shower tonight, and Angelica hadn’t known that until earlier in the day but…what a romantic event to spend with the girl that you had a major, life shattering crush on, right?
She drew in a breath and hurried to their meeting place, grinning at Sappho when she came into view. “Hey! There might be a small change of plans, are you up for a tiny bit of walking? There’s a little hill in this park and I think we’ll have a much better view of the show from there! I also brought dinner, so I hope that you’re hungry!”
Holding out one of the milkshakes to the Dark Mirror Senshi, Angelica couldn’t help the smile that spread across her face, or the way that her cheeks grew warm at the very sight of Sappho.
“...You look really pretty tonight!”

The rainbow meteor shower put Sappho in the mind of her first kiss with Kibirev. It had her heart doing little flips, some of which felt a bit...guilty.
She was off to meet another girl, and she definitely had not mentioned anything about Angelica to Kibirev. But it was...totally innocent, right? They were just friends? And she definitely should not think too much about this.
Except Angelica was waiting with dinner, and milkshakes, and wanted to go to a better place to watch the meteor shower.
Oh, no. This...this felt like a date.
Sappho swallowed.
"Yeah," she said, taking the milkshake, "that sounds great! I wonder if this one will be colorful, too," she said. Was this a good time to mention her girlfriend in conversation? Probably, because she realized unhappily that she had definitely not mentioned Kibirev to Angelica yet.
Ohhh, she was the worst.
"You always look cute," she said, and she couldn't help but say it a little playfully.
Yep, yeah, The Active Worst.

Angelica flushed and gave a little laugh, opening up the bag and handing Sappho her food when they got to the top of the hill. “You do too, but I didn’t want to sound too creepy.”
But at the same time, she kind of did want to. She definitely wanted to just…spoil Sappho and give compliments and just.
“I’m so glad that we met! And I was terribly excited to learn that there was a meteor shower tonight, it’s…ah.”
Her cheeks burned and she glanced at the other senshi. “Kind of romantic…um. In a way. And since you are my favorite lesbian. I kind of hope that…you might find it romantic too? Maybe?”
The hope in her eyes was terribly easy to read, and she chewed her lip, waiting for Sappho’s answer.

This was just friendly banter. It was totally all platonic. That was what Sappho had to keep telling herself, and maybe she would stop feeling so guilty about everything she was doing.
"Aw, I like compliments," she said, and she fluffed her hair a little, taking a sip of her milkshake. Guilt was rising in her chest, the longer this went on. She...she really sohuld have said something about Kibirev sooner, because at this point, it was...really late.
And then Angelica shattered what little plausible deniability she had. Explicitly said it was romantic.
Ah. s**t. Yeah, this was what she'd been starting to be afraid of.
Sappho was very quiet for a very long time after that pronouncement.
"Angelica, I..." She swallowed. "I'm really sorry, I should have told you this sooner, I--I'm seeing someone. I have a girlfriend. I didn't mean to lead you on! And I'm sorry if you feel like I did! I--I really like you, I do, but...I really like her, too, and."
She inhaled, tensely.
"I'm just....I'm sorry I didn't say anything before now."

For a moment, Angelica didn’t quite…understand what she had been told. She hesitated, and the smile became rather fixed, but didn’t drop though, as the moments passed, it began to droop a little and finally the senshi gave herself a little shake and turned away, her blood running cold.
Sappho had a girlfriend...because of course she did. How could Angelica have even thought at all that this beautiful, smart and funny girl wouldn’t already be taken. Happily taken.
For a moment, Angelica was pretty sure she could hear her own heart breaking and…it wasn’t a great sound but.
Thankfully she was saved from answering for a moment by a few beautiful streaks of color moving through the sky and she swallowed, trying to think of what to do. She didn’t want to stay. She was mortified and unhappy and suddenly tired but.
But perhaps this was just her punishment.
She was supposed to avoid those who wore black, wasn’t she? Supposed to fight them. They were the enemies of the White Moon or…or whatever and. Here she had been. Stupidly falling for one and.
Drawing in a breath, Angelica stood up and rubbed the back of her neck. “...I’m actually not feeling well and I’m going to go home. Have a good night, Sappho.”
She ran after saying those words. Ran as quickly as she could and hoped that the other senshi hadn’t seen the tears on her face.
Well. Well no. Angelica wouldn’t make this mistake again. Couldn't make this mistake again.
If she met someone who wasn’t one of her own kind. It would be attack first and don’t bother asking questions. Simple as that.
And she would never try to give her heart to someone so quickly. Especially without learning if they had someone else waiting for them.

Oh. Oh, hell. Sappho had kind of been expecting Angelica to get angry with her, and that would have been fair, because she had done something worth getting angry about. But this? This was so, so much worse. Her heart fell into her shoes, and she could have kicked herself for her own stupidity.
She really had just wanted to be nice. To be friends. But her mouth had gotten ahead of her, and now she'd hurt someone.
"Angelica," she started, and then she stopped. She didn't really have any right to go after her, did she? Or to try to stop her from leaving? She'd broken the poor girl's heart, and she hadn't even meant to.
"I...I'll see you around," she called after her, even though somehow, she knew she probably wouldn't.
Or, at the very least, if they did see each other again,it would....definitely not be the same.
God, she was the worst.
She turned, herself, to go home. No energy for draining tonight. She was just gonna faceplant in her pillow and cry.
