It was the day before Eliazer was set to leave out for Belrea and instead of excitement he felt a little off. Even if he missed his family and his home, he'd come to enjoy Matori. Or rather, the parts of it that a certain someone had been kind enough to show him. Ever since his first encounter with Honi the Geian had spent time with her off and on, usually never planned, but welcomed never the less. Sometimes it was just a passing greeting as he milled around the market and othertimes it was to have a private conversation. Regardless of the reason, he knew he'd miss seeing her when he left.
He knew rumors were starting to crop up about him. On his first day he'd tracked down a bounty and come back bloodied, dragging a man in manacles behind him with a blunderbuss over his shoulder. He was scruffy, quiet, and most certainly didn't belong in daylight hours. Yet here he was, milling around once again hoping to catch sight of her before he left with a little package under his arm.

Nin had a rare day off from beast healing. Very occasionaly no one came to the ranch demanding she come see some stock animal that had broken a leg, or a beloved pet that was having trouble passing pups, or any other number of critter maladies that she threw herself into rectifying. No doubt the peace would not last long so she had scurried out to the market for a few things and a surprise bouquet of flowers for Kiyelt. It was fun to watch him blush for a change and he still did! The old fart. She grinned to herself thinking about his reaction. Her gaze landed on someone mildly familiar. "You are Honi's friend Eliazer are you not?"

When Eliazer first saw the Matorian he hadn't connected her to Honi. The woman looked like so many others around them at a glance, but now that she was speaking to him he could see a few similarities. Just the fact he'd been put on the spot was enough to give the Geian pause, and now that she knew his name really made him nervous. Slowly, he nodded and with a furrowed brow he pointed to her. He had a strong suspicion, and hoped he wasn't right. If he was the fact that she was here and not Honi couldn't be a good sign.

"Yes I'm her Mother, but you are not in trouble. Its good to have friends and such. And from her behaviour she enjoys your company. I just happened by and saw that you matched the description." She blinked hoping she hadn't scared him. Usually Kiyelt was the scary one but he also had good taste because for the most part she was the scarier of the two. Unless it was something serious then they were both equally formidable and usually on the same side. "Honi is doing really good with her pottery maybe you should go watch her sometime."

Well, that was good. Evidently she hadn't heard the gossip surrounding him or maybe she didn't care? If Honi had managed to speak on his behalf then things might not be as bad as he feared. Still, the scruffy Geian held up his index finger, shifted the package he carried under his arm and shuffled around in his pack for a notebook. The poor thing was beyond well worn with more than a few torn pages as well as barely any writing space. Still, he found some and with a piece of charcoal wrote; I've seen her work. She's very talented and has a passion for it. Thinking on it a bit, he added, If I were staying longer I might go see her work, but I'm leaving soon. I was trying to find her to give this to her before I left. Would you mind giving it to her instead?

Nin read the note and nodded. "Of course, I don't mind at all. I'm sorry you didn't get to see her." She really was. She knew what it was like when your friends left and you didn't get to say goodbye. Theriar, her only friend that was actually near her own age, left frequently for fishing trips and she missed his stoic presence and his confessions of love for a certain gorgeous Matorian cook. "I'll be sure that she gets it you can count on it." She smiled brightly. Likely looking a bit more like Honi in that moment than she normally did. Honi was her favorite child for multiple reasons. She loved them all but Honi was extra special to her.

Eliazer shrugged his shoulders. While he was hoping to catch the hybrid before he left it wasn't that uncommon in his profession. Making connections was the easy part; keeping up with them once he returned home was much harder and inevitably things seemed to fall apart. Don't let it get wet; it's clay. I didn't know what to give her, but it's from Belrea so I thought she might be able to do something with it.The clay itself wasn't cheap since he'd had to pay more just to nab it from a local craftsman who had specifically order it, but it just...well, he just felt better knowing she had something as an incentive to write him. Once he'd properly written the little note for her mother to read, Eliazer handed the gift over. While it wasn't overwhelmingly heavy it would wear on anyone after a while. With his hands free once more, Eli wrote; I don't know if she told you, but my name is Eliazer Aberswith. I'm a bounty hunter from Valmon, Belrea and I- He paused awkwardly and with an unsteady breath, finished with, I would like to write to your daughter if that's alright.

"That is very thoughtful of you Eliazer, I'm sure she will be absolutely delighted. I don't think she has worked with Belrean clay yet. She just found out she had some magic in her and has been utilizing that to create her art." Nin was a very proud Mama. She loved watching Honi work and seeing the beautiful results of her daughter's diligence and creativity. It was heavy sure but she could handle it for a while. Her eyes sparkled as he asked if he could write to her daughter. "That is very gentlemanly of you, you have my permission, just be aware that my children choose their own path. Treat her well and all will be well."

Eli lifted a brow and very nearly crafted the signs for magic before taking up his charcoal instead. Magic? She either hadn't been aware of it the last time they spoke or hadn't thought too highly of it. Granted, there was a lot he didn't know about Honi, but that seemed like something that would just appear. His best friend was magically gifted and anytime his emotions flared so did the power inside. Choose her own path....? Well, she'd already done that hadn't she? With her art? I won't write anything mean to her if that's what you're saying.

"Yes magic, she well, she broke a pot and it broke her heart and she willed it whole again and it was. Now she can blend her magic with her craft. I'm pretty sure she is quite happy." She waved her hand at him. "Its something parents say, don't worry too much about it, I don't think she would like to be around you if you were not a very nice boy." After all, Kiyelt had been a very nice man once and look what had happened. She smiled. "Write your letters, it is very good for her to have good friends like you."

That was such a wholesome use of magic. Eliazer could just see the love she'd put into her work, then that strong willed determination to make it whole again. It was a little terrifying, but in a sweet way that he found endearing. With his notebook, he wrote; "I was expecting something bigger; lot of damage. My best friend back home set the curtains on fire when he got angry." It had taken a lot for him to get that mad, but the fact remained that it took a lot of control for a new magic user to fix something instead of destroying it. Something parents say...Was it something his mother had ever said? She would have told him to leave that poor girl alone, not encouraged him to write, so maybe it was just a Tendaji thing. "I never caught your name...? I'd like to thank you for taking her the clay. I haven't eaten and if you aren't busy I could repay you with a meal."

"Out of all of my children, I would have put money on Honi doing something useful with magical manifestation for the first time." She grinned. "The rest of them got real tempers, not to say that Honi didn't but she is significantly and decidedly in the lead for sweetness." "Oh that sounds lovely, is there anywhere you want to go in particular? I jump at the chance to not have to cook." Kind and thoughtful of him. She very much approved.

Only the rest had tempers? Eliazer couldn't help snerking. He remembered a temper flaring up during his conversations with Honi. It wasn't anything like his own, or any of the others he'd seen, but she could have been formidable if she tried. Still, it made him wonder about the rest of her siblings and suddenly he was all too grateful it was her mother he was meeting. "How many children do you have? Honi told me she's from a big family, but she didn't mention how big." It was something to ponder as he started to walk. Keeping up with his writing and moving at the same time would have been challenging if Eliazer wasn't so used to it. "Some place with fresh seafood. The last time I was here I had a fish as big as my arm, and it was perfect."

"Um well, seven, I have seven children, plus two that have married or stepped into the family." It was a lot she knew. But they all had their place in the works of it. Besides she loved having a big family. But she was also grateful that she herself was done doing the carrying of the babies. Now she got to spoil the rest of them. "Seven children and currently five grandchildren. They almost outnumber the seven already. Thallassa, Honi and Nykinae were the first set of kids they were triplets. The Ushiwa and Einsol the feral twins, mostly because together they are like a force of nature, each one balancing and enhancing the others skills. Then Tethys came along and finally Kynin..he bites...a lot. He is getting...better." Unless you happened to be an Oban boy named Gajeel. But that was how their friendship worked apparently. "Ahh big fresh fish! I know just the place, one of my good friends supplies them so I guarantee its fresh and of the highest quality."

Seven? Eliazer's lips joined to whistle but it wasn't a whistle that came out, just the faint breath that would have accompanied the sound. Seven children and five grandchildren. He could barely wrap his mind around the concept of a sibling most days, but to have that many, to be an uncle all of those children...it was a lot. In his notebook Eliazer made note of the names and which ones he should watch out for. When it came to Kynin he made sure to underline the boys name with the addition of he bites next to it. When he'd finished, Eliazer flipped back to he previous page; "Mind leading the way?
I'm the only child my mother had so big families are good? intimidating?
I'm not sure. I wouldn't know what to do with that many people."
