Arriving back in Destiny City was jarring for Ian, who hadn’t been to his homeworld in a very long time. It wasn’t that he didn’t like his homeworld, he did, but the place was boring. All there was were waterways, tall grasses, and houses on stilts. There was nothing there.

He didn’t know how some people traveled to their homeworlds all the damn time, enough to transcend, his own world was boring and traveling by waterway, in a little boat, to get from place to place and then back…it was tedious and he disliked it. There was nothing to discover there. The culture was old fashioned and lacking in a lot of ways.

Maybe it was because he was someone who thrived on technology and lived for it that he found his homeworld so lacking, and lackluster. But why did he need to paddle his way from place to place and discover so little and then paddle right back? He never made it very far - too much paddling. So he never made it very far, always to the same places, before he got too tired and turned and headed back.

He could also return to destiny city from wherever he was but he needed to put the boat back where he’d arrive, so it would be there for the next time.

Today he’d gone to visit with the intent of picking some flowers, he knew it was something of a springtime on his homeworld, and the flowers would be in bloom. There were actual patches of land which a person could stand on, he’d found some of them over the course of months exploring on and off, and there he’d found flowers growing. They were fragrant and whilst the blooms were small they were numerous on each stalk.

It had been while picking flowers that he’d found something very strange, and he was sure it wasn’t natural. He’d never seen it before and he was sure he’d have noticed it before now. There was a large patch of grass that was all dead, like dried out and burnt, it was a distinct circle - like a crop circle. The only thing was…nothing was pressed down - it was burnt and dead. It made no sense to him and it concerned him, despite not traveling to this place often.

Looking down at the bundle of flowers in his hand he shook his head, he didn’t want to jump to ideas or worry himself over it. First he needed to get home and then he’d deal with what he’d seen on his homeworld, he’d also find a vase for the flowers.

The trip back to the Jacob's home took a while longer than he’d like, and when he arrived he headed for the kitchen to find a vase and perhaps one of the home's other magical inhabitants. He needed to speak with them.

Xander was in the kitchen when Ian walked in and he looked up concerned. “Hey Ian, those are some interesting flowers, make sure you keep them in your room. I’d rather not have my wife trying to figure out where they came from.”

He put away the bowl he had brought down from one of his wife’s late night cravings. Their daughter was due next month, so Xander was all about keeping her happy and comfortable, not that he ever wasn’t.

“How was your night? You were careful, yes?”

Quote:
“I don’t know how none of you have told anyone.” Came the dark haired males response, he really couldn’t fathom not telling the person you were married to. Not like he was the best example of a senshi but at least he’d tell someone he was serious about, he knew that much anyway. “I was actually thinking of littering the house with them.” He stated while going to try and find himself a vase.

“Where are the vases? I know there is a collection of them.” he saw them every holiday season when they were put to good use.

“Of course, I’m always careful. Actually I found something interesting on Chaldene…a large area of dead and burnt looking plants. It’s like a crop circle in how hard the edges are…it makes no sense.” Aliens might be real but he severely doubted they were off making crop circles on his home planet, and if they were he’d find them and have some words about leaving his s**t alone. He might not be the best senshi, or even like his homeworld a lot, but it was his. He just needed to figure out the travel issue and he might like his homeworld a touch more.

“That’s easy Ian. I dont do the night time vigilante thing anymore so, I dont see a reason to tell her. Maybe one day it will be necessary, but I’m not traipsing around at night, putting my life on the line.”

He sat down on a stool on at the island and shook his head, “thats not funny and one would think after 7 years you would know that they are in the bottom china closet cabinet in the dining room.”

Xander stood and headed for the dining room to grab a vase, but paused giving Ian a look. “Did it feel weird? Or was it just out of the ordinary?”

He of course couldn't help, but to think of the chaos taint on Maia, or the situation she’d told him about on Ida.

Quote:
“I don’t either, I never really did.” How he’d gained his wings was a wonder, even now, he didn’t know how he’d managed it. “You don’t have anything nice and new?” He asked. “Anything I’ve not seen?”

Watching Xander leave, to fetch him a vase, he shook his head. “No, but something is off. I don’t go often, I’ll admit that, but I’ve never seen it before. It looked too perfect - it was on purpose…whatever did it. It was done by something and not by nature. Everything around it was fine - untouched. Nature wouldn’t do that.” If it was burned by something it wouldn’t just be that one spot and it would not look like that.

“I don’t like that something did this since the last time I was there, two weeks ago, it doesn’t make sense.”

Quote:
Xander raised a brow at Ian, “you sound spoiled at the moment and no I don’t. We have plenty, we certainly don’t need anymore. If you want a new one, you’ll have to buy it. For now however,” he went and grabbed a simple vase, enough to hold the flowers, “this will have to do.”

Handing the vase over, he frowned, “I’d be careful about that. Honestly I’d be wary about going to investigate that alone. Nothing good is likely to come of whatever has happened or whatever has done this. Chaos tainted Maia’s homeworld once and you know she nearly died.”

She had transcended in the end, but she almost didn't make it to be able to do that. He didn't at all like the idea that something potentially dangerous had made its presence know on Chaldene.

Quote:
No, not spoiled. I just figured you’d have something new ahead of the holidays.” Shrugging a bit he took the offered vase which Xander had gotten for him.

“Mmmm, I was thinking the same. I want to see what’s going on, to look at it more, and perhaps see if I can’t do something to try and fix it. But going with someone else would be a good idea, as you said.” Even if Xander hadn’t said exactly that. “I was thinking of talking to your sister but I wasn’t sure if I should, given the past.” He still remembered that event. He’d helped her get out of the hospital by putting his hacking skills to good use, at least he thought it was good use.

“I knew I needed to mention it to someone here. I’m honestly hoping someone would check their own wonder or homeworld as well. If it’s the same as mine we need to really look into things.” Though they should anyway.

Quote:
Xander nodded, “I will talk to Lily. I'm sure she will go with you, her transcendence is a buffer of sorts. I'm not exactly sure the extent of the protection it offers, but it would be good to take her along with you. Don’t worry about the past, she’s fine and she can handle it. Lily is the strongest of us all, for sure.”

Xander thought for a moment, “I’ll go check my wonder tomorrow. I check in with my ancestor Silas every so often and I’m about due. If I find anything I will let you know. Now however it's late and I’ve got a grand opening party to finish finalizing, so we should both head to bed. I will talk to Lily in the morning.”

Quote:
”I didn’t want to worry her, or have her thinking it might be repeating itself.” But he knew her transcendence offered her more protection than any of them had. If anything bad was going to happen it would pay to have Lily with him, much as he didn’t want to risk or worry her.

“Yeah, and let me know if anything is off. If anything is like on my homeworld…then perhaps there is a much bigger problem.” Something they might need to really look into, they might actually have to power up a bit more and seek out others. It had been a long time for the others and Ian was sure most didn’t even know he existed due to his lacking social skills.

“Alright, bed sounds good anyway.” With the flowers in the vase he smiled at the other. “The party….i still don’t know why I’m going.” He didn’t do parties, they were never his sort of thing. He’d never even been the sort for clubs and drinking. He would on occasion go see a local band in some small out of the way place but that was it, he didn’t do crowds of people.

That said he headed for his room, a wave over his shoulder to Xander. “Have a good sleep.”

Quote:
"I will definitely let you know, hopefully it's an isolated incident and something that can be easily handled." He was doubtful as he started to walk away, headed back to bed.

"You're going because you're family Ian," Xander said with a chuckle, "everyone is going and I very much appreciate the support. I know parties aren't your thing."

He waved as he walked away, "you have a good sleep too."
