Physical description: Alma is a petite young woman with turquoise hair and matching eyes. She naturally has a cool expression on her face that can come off as intimidating to some, though she's actually quite friendly. Alma is always dressed to dive into the water at a moments notice with thin, water resistant clothing to dry off quickly after a sudden dip. She likes to wear various seashell accessories and is rarely seen without her favorite pearl anklet.

Goal: Alma's dream is to sail around the world to learn about the Pokémon Manaphy. But while she saves up money for the voyage, she wants to see just how far her battle skills can take her. For now, she's focusing on clawing her way into the Elite Four.
Motivation: Alma has always had a wild side in her that craves adventure and drives her towards competition. Making her parents and hometown proud is also very important to her, and Alma is always driven to do right by them.
Favored Pokémon: Growing up in a port town, Alma has always felt a special connection to water types. Even outside of battle, she only has a few Pokémon that aren't related to the water.

Personality: Alma is a very cheery, sporty kind of gal that loves to splash around in the water. She works as a receptionist at the local dam that her father runs in addition to her gym duties, but she can usually be found near the water whenever she's not on the clock.
A bit of an adventure junky, it's not uncommon for Alma to borrow the family boat and disappear for days or even weeks at a time when the mood strikes her. She loves drinking and swapping stories with the sailors at the taverns after a long day, as well as shopping with her mother at the local outlets.
Most of all though, Alma loves competition. She regularly sails out to Seussville for the surfing contests and Mt. Snicket to test her skills at their coliseum. The other gym leaders have long become accustomed to her surprise visits in search of a good battle, and even members of the regions Elite Four are rumored to be targets of the battle loving girl.
Personal Skills: Alma is an excellent swimmer and surfer, and used to do both competitively when she was younger. Growing up in Port Dam, Alma has also become well versed with most practices involving boats, and has worked as both a navigator and a shipwright in the past. She also has an incredibly high tolerance for alcohol.
Family: Alma's father supervises the dam where Alma works, and her mother works at the local tavern owned by her older brother, Alma's uncle. Her grandparents on her father's side live in Olivine City in the Johto region along with her aunt and several cousins.

Biography: Alma was born and raised in Port Dam by her mother and father. Her old man used to be a sailor from Olivine City in Johto, but fell head over heels for her mother while passing through the port. He sold everything he had to settle down here in Kimchi and got himself an entry level job at the local dam while dating his future wife. They got married soon after and Alma was born less than a year later.
The little girl was enamored with the sea since her youngest days, and was at her happiest when the family would take her out on their boat to sail around the port. All of her hobbies involved the water, whether it was swimming, surfing or fishing, and she even proved herself to be a capable Pokémon trainer. However, things took a change one day when she and her family took a trip out near Mt. Snicket.
A wild Pokémon attacked the family's boat, and a twelve year old Alma was sent plummeting into the depths of the Alcott Channel. Her parents managed to get her safely out of the water, but to their surprise the little girl was clutching a Pokémon egg in her arms. Time passed, and the mysterious egg hatched into an elusive creature known as a Phione. Fascinated by this discovery, Alma raised the creature while studying as much as she could about the fabled Pokémon. Learning about her Phione's connection with the even rarer Manaphy, Alma decided that she would sail around the world to uncover her Pokémon's origins.
To that end, she was gonna need money. Though her father was now running the dam and her mother and uncle were doing well with their tavern, a voyage around the world was going to be very expensive. Alma got herself a job at the dam as a receptionist while also competing in various Pokémon tournaments around the region whenever she could get the chance. She kept on winning her battles, and eventually caught the eye of the Pokémon League Association, who asked her if she would be interested in serving as a gym leader.
Alma quickly seized the opportunity and became Port Dam's first gym leader and has been performing her roll admirably for the last four years while saving up for her voyage. Even now, she loves the thrill of the intense battles, and intends to push her limits to the max before she leaves for parts unknown, whenever that may be.

Friends: Alma keeps good relations with her fellow gym leaders and is especially good friends with Arthur and Malayna. Surprisingly, she's also a frequent drinking buddy of Harvey from Nix City.
Rivals: Alma regularly competes against Arthur in both surfing and Pokémon battles and is also known to face off against Malayna multiple times a year at the Mt. Snicket Coliseum.
Crushes: There've been rumors floating around for years about her relationships with Arthur and Harvey, but she always dodges the question when someone asks.
