Larissa has been surprised to say the least when Jason had given her a message that he had received on his ring from the Page that he had introduced her to. It was to ask if the Page could visit her Homeworld. Larissa wondered if perhaps the other was just curious about Homeworlds versus Wonders and decided to accept the ask.

It still ate at her a bit though. She didn't feel like she would be that good of a host for the Page. After all, she had only visited her home once. For some reason she just didn't feel as deep of a connection to it as Alphubel felt to his Wonder. Perhaps it was because most of her hobbies were only for Earth, as she had discovered her camera did not work on her Homeworld.

It made her uncomfortable to say the least. But she was willing to go and host. She just wasn't sure what they should expect when they got there. She had basically discovered a small village floating on top of giant lilypads surrounded by flora and unable to see the sky. There was still light from various plants that had evolved to create it naturally, but still. Her Homeworld was so alien to her that she felt as though she were a stranger going to a place where she didn't belong.

Still, she decided to wait in the park that they had agreed to meet at, shuffling her feet every so often while waiting for the Page.

Naturally when she had some place important to be there was always someone ready and willing to break the law. After all… this was Destiny City and since awakening as Rainier, she had quickly learned that several of the incidents involved powered individuals as well.

Hard to tell how many were by order versus chaos but she felt it was safe to assume that stab wounds reported by recent victims had a decent chance to have had a run-in with a captain or general; both of whom often wielded lethally sharp weapons. Then again, she'd seen at least one of those aliens, the Vanguard Cadet, with a blade that looked questionable. Bruises or wounds that looked to be inflicted by a bludgeoning weapon or a well-struck hit could be anyone from what she’d observed…

Either way, it was always a mystery after taking someone's report if they themselves were someone of the opposite faction and fortunately it was outside her jurisdiction to investigate. Leave that to the Counter Terrorist Units to discover and look into while she dealt with the petty crimes and occasional domestic violence calls.

This evening was not unlike the rest except that the report took longer than expected and put her into nearly an hour of overtime.

Ideally, she would’ve liked to have grabbed dinner before meeting up with Larissa but doing so would make her lateer than she already was. Notifying Alphubel’s girlfriend that she was about ten minutes away would have been a courtesy. Unfortunately, she wasn’t well versed in how to use her ring quite yet. The best Rainier could do was get there as soon as possible before the Eternal Senshi decided to leave without her.

“Larissa!” Glad to see she hadn’t been left behind she raised a hand above her head and waved. “I’m so sorry, I would have been here sooner. We weren’t quite at shift change at work and I got put on a call.”

When she heard Rainier's voice she looked at where it had come from and waved back in response. "It's fine Rainier!" She said as the other got closer. Once they were finally within speaking distance of each other Larissa let out a sigh. "I'm going to be honest with you. I've only been to my Homeworld once." She gave the other a small, sad smile.

"Probably seems a bit weird to have done that and yet I'm already an Eternal, but it's true. Unlike other Senshi I just... haven't felt the need to go to it. I'm not sure why I feel so disconnected from it, but the want to go and explore just hasn't been there.

"I'll tell you right now that it's covered in plant life. Everywhere you see. Even when it was populated I doubt that much sunlight was seen. It's not a scary place. I haven't felt like I would be attacked there but it's almost like... it was doing fine without me, you know?"
She said with a shrug of her shoulders. "I'm not jealous or mad about it or anything, just that I haven't felt the want to go again soon. But..." She gave the other a grin. "Now I have a reason to. And maybe we'll find something there that gives me a better connection to it. Other than just being it's Senshi." She held out her hand and with the other took out her Senshi phone. "You'll have to hold onto me, and we'll be there in a blink."

I am so sorry for taking so long to get back to this. My brain was just not in the rp headspace for quite a while and it's slowly getting back there if you still want to continue this!

Rainier suspected that the feeling Larissa described, about feeling disconnected from her homeworld, was something others felt to varying degrees. Acrucis had actually mentioned that it had been well over a year before she finally visited hers.

Still-

It seemed that Larissa was rearing to go and rather than dwelling on reasons that she might be feeling distant, Rainier showed no restraint when she instead reached for the Eternal Senshi’s offered hand. “Your homeworld sounds beautiful.”

She gave Larissa’s hand a reassuring squeeze and smiled sincerely. “Anything I can do to help you find that connection, I’m here to help.” With that, she was ready to be taken to a place that could not be found here on Earth, to a place far from the smog-filled air of Destiny City or the stench of those who refused to bathe that had to be escorted to the precinct in the back of her patrol vehicle.

This’ll be fun… at least she felt optimistic about this adventure.

Larissa smiled at the other's willingness to help. Perhaps now she would find some reason to go back to her Homeworld more often. "Thank you." She said, more quietly than needed, but she felt a bit of emotion and was trying to hide it.

In the next moment she had pressed the app that would take them to her Homeworld and within just a moment, they were there. Larissa slowly let go of the other's hand and opened her eyes, having closed them during the teleportation.

Her brain did not need to see what happened when she did that. Not yet. Perhaps there would be a time when she was ready to do so, but this wasn't it.

Looking around, she could once again see that they were in the clearing that Larissa had landed on once before. The sky above was almost covered by tall trees as far as the eye could see, but there was a bit of sunlight filtering down, giving the area a nice glow. Like one would find on Earth when they found a clearing in the forest.

She looked ahead to where the shrubs, flowers, and other plants made a small dark opening and she could only just barely see the boat inside that she had last used. She pointed it out to Rainier. "We'll be using that for the time being to travel around. It doesn't appear that there was much land to build things on so they had to travel around on top of the water." It did make her wonder if there had been those living underneath the water as well. Perhaps an evolutionary trait of splitting the two groups? She had no idea, and no way to tell at the time unless she gained the ability to breath underwater or brought a scuba diving set with her.

She took a moment to breath the fresh air. It was a bit musty, which wasn't a surprise considering the amount of water that was in the area, but she had forgotten how much better it smelled not to be around all of the air pollution on Earth. "Whenever you're ready." She said to her companion.

Rainier felt dumbstruck by the scenery. It was like being instantly teleported to the center of a national forest that had been undisturbed and left to thrive. Larissa had warned her what her world might look like, but actually seeing it just proved how far off her imagination had been.

She had followed after the Eternal Senshi, looking around in awe but not touching just in case something might be poisonous; even though she did have gloves on and should be fine, or so she assumed. Still, best not to lean over and randomly smell the flowers as she would back home. While Rainier had no known allergies, that only pertained to Earth plants, there was no knowing what the ones here might do to her.

When they came upon a clearing and Larissa pointed at a boat, Rainier felt varying levels of confusion and intrigue. “Has this always been here, or did you somehow have this made and brought here from Destiny City?” She approached the vessel, ready as she could ever be but with more questions she wanted to ask while they traveled.

Larissa shrugged her shoulders. "It was there the first time I came. They may have used this as the entrance to the world or something. I'm not sure. I honestly don't know how anyone could have gotten off of here." She said with a small smile. "But it would be interesting to find out." She moved over to it, making sure that it would be able to hold the weight of two people.

"We can move it with these oars. And I have to warn you, as pretty as this place is, it's eerily silent. The plants may be thriving, but there doesn't appear to be any fauna to my knowledge." She sighed while looking around again. "Really wish my Earth camera worked here."

She helped Rainier into the boat and made sure that the two of them were sitting before she untied the boat, something simple she had done so she could untie it more easily the next time, and they were off, quietly down the... river as far as Larissa could tell. They were continually surrounded by plants, water lilies plentiful on the surface of the water, with a strand of light shining down every now and then to guide them. After a few minutes Larissa pointed to a now larger area of light. "That should be the village I went to last time. There wasn't many signs of life, but I wasn't here for too long. We might be able to find something here this time though!" She sighed. "I apologize. Homeworlds are so... large. It makes me a bit jealous that Knights don't have to take care of the whole thing sometimes."

“No need to apologize.” Rainier helped move the boat forward with her oar while Larissa steered them down the river.

“My wonder is a mountain and I thought that was overwhelming. There is a labyrinth of ice caves that were formerly used as prisoner-holding cells. It’s not online yet, but from what I can tell, there used to be a fairly sophisticated security system in place.” Truth be told, Rainier felt like it was less of a coincidence that as a civilian she ended up as a police officer. They lived in Destiny City, after all. Seemed to reason that this path for her was preordained or written in the stars somewhere.

“I can’t even imagine being responsible for a whole world. You could easily spend a lifetime here and never see everything.” Granted with proper transportation, food, and clean water, it wouldn’t be a bad way to live.

“I do wonder though, why a camera wouldn’t work here.” That was a bit puzzling. Then again, she hadn’t thought to bring one with her to her own Wonder to know if it was a space thing, or perhaps something else. “Maybe next time you could try bringing a manual camera with film?”

For as beautiful as her world appeared to be, it would be a shame to not be able to bring images of it back home with her to document the places she had been and map it out in a way similar to those National Park passport booklets with descriptions and photos of notable places to visit.

"Your Wonder sounds interesting! I would love to visit it sometime!" It sounded like it fit Rainier. And the sophisticated security system definitely made her think of Mercury. And a few films. She would have to suggest watching them with Jason again.

She sighed. "Right? I would love to see the entire world, but I don't even know how big it is in the first place. As big as Earth? Smaller? Larger? It's hard to tell. I'm not even sure how to go about exploring all of this in the first place! Though if it doesn't have any fauna, I can at least hope that it doesn't have any ticks or leeches or something." She said with a small laugh.

Soon enough they were at the village. While the houses were mainly made of wood, their foundations sat on extremely large lily pads, the roofs covered in leaves as well. There were brides that could be seen that connected to the trees above that lifted them above the water so that those living in the village could cross to the other side without having to wait for those in the water to move out of the way.

She guided them towards one of the larger buildings, one she had seen with a large water lily on one of the sides. It appeared to be the main building of the settlement. What it was used for she had no idea. "And we're here! I would probably spend a lot of time up here if I could gather all of the supplies I needed. It's nice to have a break from Earth sometimes." Earth was still her home. But the air was very pleasant here.

"We can look around this house first. If you look on the side you can see..." She trailed off. There was something missing. There had been a giant water lily there. But now it appeared to be gone? "Well that's strange..." she muttered to herself. Getting out of the boat and holding a hand out for Rainier. "There was an amazing water lily on the side, but it doesn't appear to be there anymore..."

“Honestly, from what I’ve seen so far, your world is like stepping into a world for some CGI movie, like Avatar.” Magical, fantastical, something pulled out of someone’s imagination and made real. “Mine’s just- just typical of mountains you’d see back home.” Except for more ice, lots more ice.

Her wonder did have a few notable points of interest and perhaps the two of them could explore it together. Yeah- it might take a couple of visits. But would be doable in a reasonable amount of time, so long as she remembered to inform Larissa that she’d need to bring something warm to wear.

“Thank you,” Rainier accepted the offered hand and stepped out of the boat with one foot. Why she thought a lily pad that supported the weight of a building would fold underneath her was beyond her but she did hesitate before taking her second foot out of the boat.

“I can only imagine the size of it…” her voice trailed off. Rather than beautifully colored flora attached to the side of the building there was something more concerning. A black area, an inky void where color should be.

Rainier took a step towards it and reached a gloved hand out to touch its surface. “It’s here too…” Her lips pursed into a thin line the corners of which tugged downward into a concerning frown. “I’ve heard rumors of these appearing on worlds and wonders.” It had been well over a month since she’d visited her own, definitely, before she caught word of anything amiss, therefore Rainier had no idea if her own wonder had been infected.

“Is this the first time you’ve seen something like this here?”

"Well, sounds like you would at least be able to see the area around the mountains. I think we get maybe 50 feet here." She said with a chuckle. She then followed the other and looked at the inky black mess. It made chills go down her spine. What could possibly be the cause of this? Was her Homeworld... dying?

Was it because she hadn't been visiting it enough? Larissa suddenly felt much more guilty about her absence. "I should have come back earlier." She said, her voice almost cracking as she tried to keep her emotions in check. But then Rainier said that she had heard rumors about it appearing elsewhere and Larissa felt some relief. Not enough to get rid of all of the guilt, but clearly there was something going on that she should have paid attention to.

She nodded to the other. "Yes... I didn't see anything like this the last time I came here." She touched the building with her hand. "I'm sorry, I should have come back. I should have visited more often." She said, letting out a sigh. "I didn't bring anything that we might be able to store this in unfortunately, so I don't think we can take a sample back." She let out a small curse. "I really wish my camera worked." The first thing she was going to do when she got back to Earth was look for a way to see if she could take pictures of her Homeworld. Maybe then she could find others who had experienced the same thing. "Did you hear anything else about these spots? I hope they aren't eating the pad or the building..." She muttered the last part before taking a look inside. There wasn't much light but from what she could tell, it hadn't eaten into the building. Yet.

She walked back outside and got closer to the dark stuff. Using one hand she tried to move any smell there might have been to her nose without stirring anything up. "It smells... burnt. That's odd. Unless something else has been here, I don't believe there should be any fires..."
