As with all things, their peace was temporary, there had been reports of dnagerous poachers in Oba, killing janarim and perzi needlessly for the value of their crystals and armor plates. It was sickening. He knew what he needed to do and wondered if Saeruin would accompany him.
He knocked at the forge, which they were considering moving to a more convinient location for her.
"Are you overly busy for the next 2 months?"

She looked up from her current project. It was entering the slow season for her and he knew it.
She caught the scent of adventure in the air.
"Not particularly, and well you know it."
She gave him major side eye.
"What did you have in mind exactly?"

"Well there happens to be some serious poaching issues in Oba right now and someone with your level of sneakitude would be most welcome."
He knew better than to be overprotective of her, not when his Mother had saved his Father on more than one occassion in the past.
Nin was a powerful ally. So he chose to use Sae's strengths instead. Besides having someone along with arms as strong as hers would be good. She would be underestimated where they would see his muscles and judge his strength more accurately.

"Well, color me flattered." She doused a flat of metal in the water. Her smithy work was like active meditation for her.
Ushiwa brought no peace (except when they were snuggled up in front of the fire), he was the definition of chaos and adventure and she loved that about him.

They arrived in Oba, she on Malibu and he on Cerean. They had every piece of equipment available including their sailscales who would act as scouts. The zanteer were back on the ranch in Matori where they would be safe. He got them a nice Inn with a pool for the snaptrotter who was not a fan of the heat.

She guided Malibu into the pool after she had stripped his saddle off and fed him. He groaned with pleasure and having nothing better to do, she hoined him and made sure to splash every inch of his hide.
"We keep finding ourselves far away from home, don't we boy?"
Kiyelt, Nin and Ushi had given him to her. Ushi's Father had said that they hadn't had much choice since she was the only one that he would let ride him. She was still grateful.

He paid for the room and made sure Cerean was comfortable in a luxurious paddock stall, designed for janarim. It even had a big sunning rock.
He went looking for Sae and found her and Malibu in a splash fight. It looked like Malibu was winning, as he should.
"You two look like you are having fun," he settled to sunbath on the edge of the pool. It had been a very long trip.

She sighed happily. She secretly loved travel, so long as it didn't include Zena.
"I am actually."
She let him relax before she clung to Malibu and let him silently swing his tail back and forth propelling her in deadly silence through the water toward her mate.
Poor, poor Ushi. She flicked the water and so did Malibu. He was thoroughly soaked.

He gave a most undignified squawk. He had been very hot and the pool water felt like ice on his heated skin. He sat gasping for a bit, putting on a show for her because there was no one else there. Pleasantly.
"How dare thee wench and lizard!" he cried before hopping in the pool.

Excellent. She clung to Malibu and the pair steamed with meaning towards him. There they were on an exceptionally dangerous mission and they were able to play. it meant a lot to her. In public they were quite serious but with but with just her she got to see another side of him.
They rested and ate for a few days, set to head out in the morning.

Bright and early they set out to scout the lay of the land. Ushi totted maps made by his Father but it seemed the poachers were settled in an area his Father had not roamed. His maps were useless. So together they ranged about and gathered as much information about the area as they could. Ensuring they knew where cover and escape were as Zores circled slowly in the distance.

They both knew that the vulture like creatures heralded the potential of a poacher kill.
It was about this time that Sae realized that her courses had been late. This sometimes happened shen she was under physical or mental stress and it was definitely a harsher climate with more physical exertion than she was used to. So she didn't take it all that seriously. for the moment. She would let Ushi know...eventually.

Eventually their foray's bore fruit and they found the poachers camp it was a large, sprawling thin gin a depression. he supposed it was foolish to hope for a flash flood at the moment int he middle of the desert.
"Let us wait until dark, when some are asleep and most are out on a hunt. They probably use snares so watch for ropes upon our retreat on any game trail we might have to flee down."

She slunk around the camp, filtching small things that would make a big pain for the poachers like flint, buckles, canteens and the like. She stayed away from their cookfires, she was sure that Ushi was mirroring her on the other side of camp.
They were too few in number to risk anything big until they were ready to make good their escape but the more info they could find the better it would be for the authorities whose job this should be.

He seriously considered setting the place on fire, which he might have done had he been with Thallassa or his Dad, but there were other less enraging ways to make life hard for the poachers. He needed to protect Sae as much as he could. The thought of her falling into enemy hands sent shivers up his spine.
It was a risk of course having her out here but her sneaking skills were unparalleled.
He untied a few critters, bribing them with food. Then he made the sound of a desert night bird, the signal to retreat from the camp.
