Draining energy was not, per se, Ariadne's favorite thing to do, by any means. It was just so inconvenient, having to find groups of people and send her mirrorwraith out...so she tended to only do it when she had to, and every once in a while, she did have to.
This time, she was tucked away in an alley off the DCU campus, watching a group of drunk college students stagger past her, as her wraith wove through them, growing fatter and more solid as it went. It was a cute little thing, and she was fond of it, and once it was full, she beckoned it back towards her.
Those people wouldn't notice a thing.

Fangnyl wasn't quite sure what he'd been doing at the college campus, other than people watching. Something had felt off, though, when he passed by a group of drunken students and they all staggered at nearly the same time. That... that was too odd and coincidental to ignore, he was pretty sure. Alcohol did strange stuff to people, but simultaneous slipping like that? No, he didn't think that was right. Then he saw it. The strange creature. It bounced over to someone he couldn't quite see in the dark, but he was pretty certain that they weren't either White Moon or Negaverse. That creature wasn't a youma or a cat, as far as he knew. It was too... odd. So he approached cautiously, knife out. "What did you just do to those people?" he demanded.

Oh. Ariadne made a small "hmm" noise, narrowing her eyes at the person coming up on her. He was....definitely not human.
This....had to be one of the aliens Abzu mentioned. And he was apparently quite hostile right off the bat.
"I skimmed a little energy off the top, it's fine, they won't even notice," she said, and she rolled her eyes. "Aren't you guys working with the Negaverse? You know they kill people, right? Hypocritical, much, picking on me?"

"You assume a lot about my personal loyalties," he said bluntly, eyes narrowed. "And I've never seen someone like you before. Who or what are you?" His fingers tightened their grip on the handle of his knife and he widened his stance slightly, ready for anything. Hopefully. If that creature came back, he was stabbing it as hard as he could.

Ariadne raised her eyebrows. Okay, apparently there were some divisions among the pastel alien weirdos, since this one seemed to really not like the Negaverse. That was fair, she got that, the Negaverse seemed to be pretty full of assholes. Not that she had a ton of experience, and recent ones had been more positive, but...still.
There were things you saw once and never forgot.
Still, she murmured "Mourningbride's Wish," under her breeath, and stepped forward, extending her hands with the pretty ethereal flower inside.
"Why don't you put that knife down and we'll talk? I'm Sailor Ariadne, and I'm a Dark Mirror Senshi, and this really doesn't have to get weird or violent or anything like that."Quote: Sailor Ariadne cups her hands in front of her and speaks the name of her attack, and a spectral mourningbride flower appears in her hands. She offers it to a target, and they feel a mild compulsion to take it. If they do, they will find themselves feeling attached to Ariadne and wanting to please her, even to their detriment. It is possible to resist this compulsion, but fighting it will cause the target to feel a physical ache in their chest. This effect lasts for 25 seconds. Ariadne can use this attack three times per battle.

Fangnyl took a step back as she stepped forward, watching her suspiciously, but... his eyes were drawn to the flower in her hands and he was enchanted by it, knife hand slowly holstering it so he could reach out and cup it with both hands. Something was screaming at him to pay attention, this was magic, but he couldn't resist. The flower felt soft to hold and he hummed lightly, looking back up at the girl. "Ariadne? I'm Fangnyl," he said quietly, smiling a bit. "I haven't heard of the Dark Mirror Senshi? What are they—you—like?"

"Hi, Fangnyl," Ariadne said, and she kept her tone as calm and friendly as possible, "it's nice to meet you. And I guess it's fair you hadn't heard of us before, I only ever heard about you guys--Velencians, right?--like a week ago? So maybe our people just haven't crossed each other's paths."
She took a deep breath. She had to explain in a way that wouldn't upset him or put the rest of the Court at risk, so....time to be as thoughtful as she could be.
"We're Chaos Senshi," she said, because honesty was an important step in building trust, "but we're totally separate from the Negaverse. We have our own realm, called Mirrorspace, that only we can get to, and we don't want to keep tangling in the fight here on Earth. It's not safe, and nobody's really our allies, y'know? The Negaverse would kill us just as quick as Order would. So we kinda just want to carve out our own space and keep existing. That's all. And to do that, we need to drain energy, but we can't take very much. Our mirrorwraiths are totally harmless, they barely take much at all, just a little to keep us going."
She hoped he listened. she hoped he understood. She hoped this didn't have to turn into a real fight when her magic wore off, because time was ticking very quickly on that front.

He nodded slowly at her explanation for why they hadn't heard of each other yet. That made enough sense. He still didn't know everything about Earth yet, after all, and he was trying to learn as much as he could as quickly as he could. And that wasn't really counting all of the magical stuff. He hummed lightly as she told him what they were, suspicions evaporating. Well, that didn't sound too bad at all. It sucked that they had to take energy—but really, was it that terrible? Sure, harvesting from crops or animals to eat for bodily energy was different from taking that energy from humans, but if nobody would ever actually notice anything, then... He shook his head hard, staring at the flower she'd given him. Something... was wrong. Suddenly, the magic wore off and he dropped it, looking back up at Ariadne with shock and upset. "What the heck?" he said, voice shaking. And yet. He couldn't bring himself to do anything against her. Because a part of him... well, he believed her. If it really was as easy and simple as she said, so they could keep living, then... Could he really rightfully protest?

Her magic wore off. Ariadne swallowed; he was clearly not entirely happy, but at least he wasn't leaping to attack.
"Well!" She said, and she gave a little wave. "I'm sorry about magicking you, but you were holding a knife and I needed you to listen, but--uh, good talk, Fangnyl, see you around!"
It wasn't exactly a dignified exit, darting into an alleyway and through an old mirror she had found tucked in the far back of it. But it got her out of there, just in case he changed his mind.

Fangnyl's hands shook a little, but... she had just up and left. Stars, this was all strange... Then a kind of realization hit, long after she'd gone. Ohh. They're like vampires! Okay, then. That made sense. He figured they weren't too bad, after all. Maybe next time he saw her he could make friends.
