Honestly Omari wasn't quite certain what to do with the strange contraption that his older sister had sent them. Cahira had a strange affinity for collecting odd trinkets, especially those used for treasure hunting, and never hesitated to share her finds with the family. The hybrid twisted his lips thoughtfully as he studied the wooden box, his fingers tapping lightly against the mesh stretched across the center. "So we just use this to scoop out....dirt?" He mused as he stood by the water's edge, his bare toes already curling in and out of the soft sand along the bank.

"What do you think, Oly? Wanna give it a go?" Omari finally glanced over his shoulder to find his twin who was hopefully still around here somewhere...

11 - 20: Lucky Lucky! You seem to have struck gold...or something similar. Use the second roll to calculate your results...and add +5 to the number.
(4+5) 6 - 10: A Little Silver Silver is nice, it can be shaped to jewelry or traded for something more. It's not a lot, but it's worth something.

Oly wasn't too far away, looking over Cahira's letter that had come with the box. So.. they were supposed to just sift through the dirt and find.. stones? He looked up at his brother's call and nodded. "Yeah, I'm coming." He joined at Omari's side and scanned along the water's surface. "I guess we just pick a spot and start scooping sand into the box? Do you want to be the scooper or the holder first?"

"I guess I can be the holder?" Omari tilted the strange contraption again thoughtfully. "Would it be easier to scoop with the box or....do we just bring up some river silt and toss it on there?" The young dancer chuckled softly before glancing back at his twin. "Honestly I'm just happy to get an excuse to play in the water. It's been a while." Lately everything was just about going to the dancing school and doing his best to train there so that he could eventually become a teacher himself. It had been a while since he could just hang out with Oly like this and Omari admittedly missed it.

"Worse case if we don't find anything we could always go to the markets and buy something really rare looking and try to trick Cahira into thinking we found it in the river." Teased Omari as he shifted his position again so that he could keep the contraption held in front of him at a level angle for his brother to either take or fill up with sand from the river.

Oly paused thoughtfully. "I think I'll scoop stuff into it. Maybe have it at the top of the water so it can be rinsed off? I think that's how it works." He walked into the water a little deeper and tossed a smirk over his shoulder. Go to the market? "Let's keep that as worst case," he chuckled. While it would be nice to have something impressive to show off, he knew that cheating wouldn't sit well with either of them.

"I'm gonna start here." He knelt down without concern for getting wet and scooped up as much of the sandy bottom as he could. The cloud of muck that rose made him purse his lips slightly. That was going to make it difficult to see anything subtle. Shrugging, he turned and slopped the sand into the sifter. "Now let the water go through it so it only leaves the big things."

Omari chuckled. "Fair enough." He supposed it would be best to not tease their sister with something like that...but it definitely would be something to keep in mind for a worse case situation. Omari just followed Oly's lead and allowed the sand to slowly sink down through the mesh, chunks of wet muck and stuff lingering before he poked at it to also shove it through the thin wires. Was this truly a way to find treasures? Omari pursed his lips in quiet protest before using his hand to wipe away the remnants of a few shells and the like, some which he did pocket since they looked cool even though they weren't precious gemstones or gold.

"Hmm. Maybe we should wade further up river? Let's try that." He mused as he started splashing along to try and find a more open spot for them to try next. Surely they could find something!

He peered hard at the sifting dirt, lips pursing into a pout. Didn't look like anything special yet. Nothing caught his eye, so he did a few more scoops. Mostly shells and pebbles. Omari's suggestion earned a nod. "Okay. You pick a spot this time and I'll hold the box thing."

While it wasn't the most thrilling activity, the water did feel good and it was nice to spend time with his brother. With a playful smirk, he reached down to splash a handful of water at his twin. "Nice to see you outside of mom's studio," he mused playfully. "Was starting to think you'd taken root there."

Omari let out a surprised 'oof' whenever the cold water touched his warm skin. "Hey!" He called out towards Oly though his grin ruined the whole attempt to chastise his brother for the playful action. Oly was just lucky that he had his hands occupied with the contraption else he would have gotten a wave of water back in return! Still, it did feel nice especially since the afternoon sun was starting to really beat down on them without many clouds in the sky. "Yeah, yeah." He replied with another chuckle before shaking the box. "Can't take root when I'm too busy flying all over the place with errands for the students." He teased lightly. That and between all the dancing practice it was surprising if Omari actually got more than a few hours of sleep at night let alone even time to eat two meals a day! He did miss seeing his family though and a small flush covered his cheeks as he realized how caught up he had been in his studies as of late.

"Sorry." He started before something shimmering caught his attention. "Look! I think we got something!" This time the silt had a silvery sheen to it or was he imagining things?

Oly smirked lightly. "I guess you have a point there. Like that old rolling stone and moss saying that old people like to remind us off all the time." He wasn't entirely sure what that phrase meant, but it seemed to fit there. He could say with a fair amount of certainty that no one in his family was the type to gather any sort of detritus buildup. They were always on the move.

His brow cocked slightly with the beginning apology, and he looked to his twin with a light smile. "Hey, nothing to be sorry about.. What?" He turned back to wade over to Omari's side and peered into the box. Brow fully rising, he reached in the separate the shining piece from the brown dirt. "Yeah! Looks like we got some silver!" His excitement was short lived though, the bit of metal looking rather small even in his petite hand. "I was hoping for something more.. substantial."

"Pfft. Definitely." Omari nodded with a laugh. "I think we'd self destruct if we stayed still for too long." That was probably why his family was all over the place like they were. It was rare even when he was a child for the whole family to meet up especially with the oldest siblings already traveling and in the process of starting families of their own. At least they seemed to have a good connection by sending packages and letters all the time, something which Omari always looked forward too especially whenever said letter came with a package because he adored all of the various gifts.

"Hey everyone starts somewhere, right?" Teased Omari as he held up a couple more pieces of silver. It wasn't a lot but at least it was something. The hybrid shook his head before offering his pieces to Oly. "Maybe we can pool together and get a meal before I go back to the school? It'd be nice to explore the market and stop by a tavern for once." It had been a bit since they had simply hung out for the whole day and Omari was willing to put aside his studies for once. It wouldn't destroy him to not dance for a few hours today...if anything he probably needed the break in all honesty. "Buuut first..." Omari reached down with his free hand so that he could splash water towards Oly. "We should cool off some more."

Oly chuckled along and nodded. "I'd believe it. I think the only one of us I've ever seen even nap is papa, and that's not too often." His attention returned to the box, pleased to see there was more than just the one piece in the collection. "We could get ourselves a decent meal with this," he replied, grin rising. "I will be ready for food by the time we get back." And a little more time with his brother? Yes, please. "No running around once we're there, either. Let the servers get everything for you."

He might have said more, but he let out a yelp of surprise when the chill of the splash hit where he was still dry. "I mean, it is pretty hot out here." He laughed brightly and bent to get another scoop of water. At the same time, he backed away to put some space between the two of them for a proper splash battle.

"He's the bravest of us." Joked Omari before plopping a couple more silver pieces into their collection. It did look like their pile was growing which was nice. "I'm craving seafood. Can we get something like that? Oban fare is nice and all but the spices can only do so much when you're craving crayfish and the like." Omari did terribly miss Matori meals whenever he was in Oba for months at the dancing school. Being raised mostly in Matori had given him a deep appreciation for fish and the like and even though they had Oban meals often enough it simply didn't have that feeling of home like a good meal from Matori.

And then they were rushing about and splashing each other. Omari found himself laughing as the water bounced around them, his hands continuing to scoop the water towards his brother as he made certain their collection of silver was secured. It would have been bad if they lost all of their hard work because they played around a bit! Eventually Omari would call for mercy but he wanted to make certain he got a good few splashes in first.

It was nice to just feel like brothers playing around again. There were so many responsibilities as they grew, but he wasn't quite ready to be a complete grownup. There was a lot of time before they got "old" like their parents!

Soaking wet, he waddled out of the water while squeezing out as much of the liquid as he could. "So, yeah, seafood. Sounds good to me. I doubt the tavern will be too pleased if we walk in with wet clothes on a perfectly sunny day though. Think we'll be dry enough by the time we walk there?"

A grin crossed Omari's lips. "We should be fine in this heat." He could imagine the walk towards town would definitely give them plenty of time to dry off. "Unless you accidentally fell into more water." Omari teased playfully with a gentle nudge against his brother's hip. Omari finished wringing out his own clothing and pulled his damp tunic back across his chest before slinging an arm over his brother's shoulders. "As tempting as the idea was I'm starving. Onwards towards food!"

Thankfully, Matori clothes tended to be made light and somewhat easier to dry. Omari was right; even if not completely dry, they should be well off enough by the time they got there. The nudge brought another chuckle from Oly and he hip bumped right back. "We'll have to thank Cahira for helping us get dinner. I bet we could even go to one of the nicer places with what we found." The bits of silver weren't much, but he wasn't going to complain too much. After all, he was getting more out of this than just some shiny trinkets. Time with his twin, with anyone in his family, was worth its weight in gold.
