It'd been kind of a long while since he'd hung out with Gideon. Months, definitely. Years, maybe. Their once-close trio of Tanwyn, Gideon, and Nataniel hadn't been that way since they were teenagers. Tanwyn had kept up with Nataniel. They were close enough in age that they'd always been doing a lot of the same things. Gideon was Tanwyn's junior by seven years, though. Hardly anything if they'd been in their forties, fifties, sixties, but as Tanwyn was going to college, Gideon was still in middle school.
And it had been all of their parents that introduced them to each other and gave them opportunities to hang out. Once Gideon's parents were out of the picture, the red head was less available, to put it politely.
It had only taken the mention of Gideon's name for Tanwyn to internally wince at the sorry situation. Tanwyn hadn't been able to relate with his friend's losses, and they'd grown apart. But now Tanwyn felt intimately familiar with what a very young Gideon must have experienced, and guilt tugged at him for not really being there for someone he was supposed to care about.
Really weird to think that it was the Negaverse that gave them all something to connect and communicate over again. Weissite had messaged Feldspar at his general's instruction. Better to not patrol alone, and he was sure Feldspar needed a partner too. Wasn't sure if Gideon wanted that partner to be Tanwyn after all this time, but it seemed only fair to let Feldspar know who he was and maybe apologize if it seemed appropriate.
It probably wouldn't.
Weissite waited on a bench outside a McDonald's, cheeseburger in hand and sack of half a dozen burgers next to him to share, if Feldspar felt up for it.
