Date Night

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Love is in the air and it is exhausting. It seems everyone is so excited to meet someone new and see if they 'click'. To the point where this new trend has spread across Tendaji - Blind Dates.

The concept is pretty simple - you have a friend (or a matchmaker) set up a date with someone you've never met before. Some find this exhilarating - a chance to go beyond the same old and meet someone new. But others see this as unnecessary anxiety forced upon them by their friends or society's pressure.

Either way, you find yourself set up on a date not of your choosing, with a stranger who you've never met before. This could either be the person of your dreams...or a big mistake. Guess the only thing you can do is see where this date takes you.

---

For those who are already in a relationship, it's hard to host a 'blind date', but you can get close. It's time to surprise your significant other with a night date, just the two of you. No family, no children, just a chance to spend time with the one you love.

[ It's date night! This prompt should include a date with a stranger, either set up by your friends or by a matchmaker. If you're RPing your character with another, we ask that it be someone new (within reason to where your character is currently located). If you're RPing alone, create a new NPC and see where the night takes you.

Who knows, maybe this will be your character's future partner...or maybe an awkward enemy. What's the harm in the name of love?

For those who have characters already in a relationship, we're instead looking for a "Surprise Date" where one of the partners surprises the other with ad ate experience.

Elna blushed with a furiousness that caught her off guard. She was going on a date, but she was so nervous. Her heart was pounding in her chest.

Her brother Liio had set her up with someone... but she wasn't sure what they would be like or who they were. They had stopped in Zena to refuel on their travels and to visit their family, and she supposed it was a good time to blow off some steam.

She had a name, Nimia, and she knew that it was another woman. But beyond that she didn't quite know what to expect. To be in Zena, she expected someone local, but who really knew? She wrung her hands as she waited inside of the bookstore for her date. It was cold outside and already lightly snowing.

Nimia was a bundle of anxiety. As excited as she was to go on her first date she was also incredibly nervous about the whole thing. What if they didn't like her? Or rather, she. It was a woman, a little older than herself, who went by Elna. That was a good thing; if she was older then she would know what to do and would no doubt be experienced than Nimia.

The teen had done her best to look as pretty as possible with a bit of gloss on her lips and some scented oils in her hair to give it a shine. There wasn't much she could do about her glasses since she couldn't see well without them, but honestly Nimia wasn't too worried. Papa said they made her eyes look bigger, which she was told made a woman look prettier. Hopefully her date thought the same.

She entered the bookstore with a cautious glance around and a fluttering in her chest. All of the pseudo confidence she'd built up on her way here was fizzling out like steam from a kettle the more she looked around the room. Without anything physically to go on, Nimia instead asked, "Excuse me? Is Elna here?", to the shop at large. In a low, respectable tone that is.

Elna was locked up in her own thoughts, worrying about the what-ifs when she heard a voice above the others. Her ear twitched at the sound of her name being called. "Oh, yes?" She turned to face the direction of the voice.

It was a younger girl with dark green hair, she looked like she was a water earthling. Much different than what she was expecting a local to look like. "I'm Elna." She closed the gap between the girl and herself. "Are you Nimia?" She asked. The girl was pretty, with large glasses and very straight long hair. She wondered if Liio knew the girl personally or if he had heard of her through the grapevine to set up this date.

Oh! Nimia's face flushed a soft shade of violet for a moment before it softened into a smile. The other girl appeared to be older than herself with a cute, shorter hairstyle and brilliantly green eyes. She was lovely and while that left Nimia more than a little disarmed she was never the less determined to be cordial.

The softly falling snow had left a film on her lenses so Nimia took them off to wipe on the edge of her blouse. "I am. I'm happy you decided to meet up here." When she was satisfied that they were as clean as they were going to be, Nimia put her glasses back on. "What sort of books are you interested in?"

Elna offered Nimia a warm smile. She felt like her nerves we just the slightest bit more relaxed when the girl reciprocated her enjoyment of reading. It was something Elna felt like she had a little more control over in her life. ”I have to confess, whenever we come back into town, I always end up here. It’s become closer to a second home to me.”

She gestured to a small alcove with a couple of plush looking chairs under a lantern. ”Did you want to sit down?” She chewed on her lip in thought at Nimia’s question. ”I read quite a bit, but I guess my favorite topics are magic texts and when I’m not studying I pick up a bit of fictional reading. Fantasy and adventure sort of thing. What about you? Do you enjoy reading then?” She asked Nimia.

Let me know if you want to keep this one going, I know Nimia grew already (right?).

I'd love to continue it! <3 I really like Elna; she's such a sweetie.

"Sure." Nimia made her way to one of the chairs and gathered her skirts before settling down. After her walk it was nice to sit down for a bit; especially since the boots she'd picked were more for looks than practicality. She really wanted to make a good impression even if nothing came of it romantically.

"Oh, I do, very much." Nimia's golden eyes lit up. "Have you read anything by Rys Treefeather? His approach can be off putting to some readers, but his take on ancient transformative magic is breathtaking." Her cheeks darkened a little into a shade of indigo before Nimia sat back a little in her seat. "Sorry I, um - you didn't ask about that. Most of the time my readings are purely for study - transformation magic, mostly, and magical theory - but on my own...I love romance novels. It's always the same plot line, with the same protagonists, but it's just so fun."

Elna lit up at the mention of Rys Treefeather. ”Oh yes! I’ve read quite a few of his works. He is so insightful!” She started to gush. She didn’t even notice the blush creep up on Nimia’s face, Elna was already reaching into the back of her mind to bring up the random tidbits of knowledge she had stored away in her brain for later. ”I have to admit, I tend to study more on evocation and practices in technique and control, but transformation magic has always seemed so neat.”

Elna felt like it was her turn to blush. She knew that she hadn’t said too much but just the mention of trying to learn to control magic made her think that she had tipped her hand into letting Nimia know that she was struggling.

”But romance!” she squeaked out, overcompensating for her rant. ”Do you recommend any good authors? I don’t read them often, but if you think there’s someone I should add to my list I’m more than happy to hear it.”

"You have?!" Nimia's glasses slipped down to the tip of her nose as she hopped up in her seat. "Isn't he though? I'd give anything to meet him and ask him about his theory on polymorphing into cryptids. I know it's impossible right now, but I'm hopeful that one day someone could find the secret and he might be the one." She'd barely breathed at all during her little rant, but oh, Nimia's heart was bursting. It felt so nice to have found someone to talk to! "Or just legendary beasts in general. Could you imagine?"

Oh she would never, that would be too terrifying for her, but someone else could and so long as she had the spell for it Nimia would be happy enough!

"Oh, evocation? Have you read anything by Anders Codfellow? I'm sorry, you probably already have and I'm just rambling, but if you like Rys Treefeather then you might like what Codfellow has to say about magic control." Her excitement and adrenaline were far too high to pick up on anything other than a fellow magical reader.

But now it was her turn for her nerves to pop through and Nimia felt herself look around before leaning forward to speak. Her voice was much lower now, as if she didn't want others to hear about her naughty readings. "You should look into the Flower of the Bard series. Right now there are four volumes and - Well, it's just a fun read."

Elna stored the name away for later in her database of a brain. Codfellow. That would be good to look into later. ”Oh no! I haven’t heard of him. And he focuses on control?” It might be too much to ask, maybe the author only had one title out about control and he actually wrote something vastly different regularly.

Nimia leaned forward, causing Elna to follow suit, her mouth just slightly open in concentration. She clapped a hand over her mouth when Nimia let her in on a secret series of books. Oh - that kind of a romance! She couldn’t help but wonder just how explicit a read it must be for Nimia to be so secretive about it, but she wouldn’t let herself dwell on that. ”Flower of the Bard.” She whispered back, letting the words commit to memory. ”I’ll have to read those. And they’re still writing more? Four books so far?” She peppered the girl with questions. ”Do you have other recommendations?” She asked.

Elna was getting so caught up in talking about books that she almost forgot this was supposed to be a date. ”Oh my! I think we may have gotten carried away for a bit. Did you want something to drink from the cafe? We barely settled in before diving right into a pseudo book club.” She smiled to the girl sharing a date with her.
