Tortali was stalking someone. Well, not really stalking, but she was always ready to punch an alien b***h when she saw one, and she was pretty sure that this was one of them. He was headed towards the wooded area in the park, and she was trying to figure out just what he was doing before she struck, but finally…she couldn’t take it any longer.

Patience had never been Tortali’s strong suit, and just the very idea of this being one of the Velencians one of the people that caused that ******** up on the hill…it made her blood boil.

With a soft huff, she lunged out of the shelter of the trees and pounced on him, throwing them both to the ground and pinning the creature’s arms down with all of the strength that she had. “Are you one of them? The damn bastards that work with the Negaverse? The ones that ******** with us and tried to ruin everything? Because if you are, I swear I’m going to rip you apart for what you did.”

Okay, so obviously threats would only be met with lies, she knew that but…she was angry. How could anyone blame her for going off the handle? She had one! Right here! At her mercy.

Andreiya could have screamed. Should have screamed. He was taking a nice, relaxing walk in the park–through the woods! Appreciating nature! It wasn’t even incredibly cold anymore, he hadn’t even needed a jacket!

And now he was being attacked.

Inwardly, he was criticizing himself. He knew he should have worn his human skin, but he was trying to be careful with that. He didn’t want anyone to attack him or find out his secret identity. But this was, arguably, worse.

Now his uniform was probably dirty.

She was strong for a human and he wriggled a bit pathetically. He couldn’t find any purchase on the soft ground.

“Leave me alone!” he shouted. “I did not try to ruin anything! I have not bothered anyone. You are rude and you are hurting me, get off!”

Tortali scoffed. “Yes, that’s kind of the point. I want you to hurt. I want you to pay for everyone that you deceived. That died because of you and your stupid lying leaders. I want you to realize that you ******** up, and we won’t stand for it. Do you get that? I’m pissed, and I want you to suffer!”

She slapped him, right on the face and then gave what was almost a snarl. “Heavier Grudge!”

Her magic wouldn’t do anything, but it would hopefully piss him off. Let him know how she was feeling. God, if only her magic would cause pain to people. That would be so much more satisfying than just…making them angry too…

The same attack, only this time, instead of one ‘grudge cloud’ half a dozen come out of her hand, thus making the attack much harder to dodge, and making it possible to effect more than one opponent. The feelings grow stronger in this attack, and the effects last for thirty five seconds, allowing Tortali ample time to get out of there. This attack may be used once per battle. This attack can affect a maximum of three opponents at one time.

Andreiya had never been slapped.

Maybe he had been hit while in training, but that was different. It wasn’t standard combat practice, and accidents didn’t count.

But an open palmed slap? On purpose?

The surprise hit him before the pain did, and then humiliation and shame. He had moisture building in his eyes even before the magic struck, and with those emotions stacked on too, he really just wasn’t equipped to handle this.

He’d have been so ashamed if any member of the Vanguard had been here to see. He worked so hard to be everything he was supposed to be. He was a Corporal! Commodore Lyndin had chosen him!

…He was being slapped because of a decision he hadn’t made. Because he’d been in the wrong place at the wrong time and hadn’t been trusted to know what they were really getting into. It wasn’t exactly that he didn’t understand Tortali’s frustration—he’d been frustrated too. But he’d worked through that.

He still felt the spiral of negativity growing. Worsening. His eyes felt warm. He felt the first tear fall and made a gross, pathetic noise, and he hated it. He hated her.

“All of you Earthlings are the same!” He shouted suddenly, trying one more to throw her from atop of him. “You are all cruel and selfish! I hate you all! You do not deserve your world! I just want to go home, leave me alone!!”

His foot found a rock and he bucked, as hard as he could, off of it to try and dislodge her.

“If you want to go home, then you never should have come here! You’re not wanted, so just leave!” When he tried to throw her off, Tortali felt a surge of anger and punched the alien’s cheek. “I hate you. None of us wanted you here. Nobody wanted you to come, or to stay. I don’t care what you think, I just want you to leave.” She moved off of him and jumped to her feet, kicking him hard in the side. “Bull s**t we don’t deserve our world. This is our home. Not yours. I haven’t ever killed anyone before, but I swear that if I ever see you again, I’ll do it. And I’ll take pleasure in it. You’re unwelcome and unwanted, and don’t you forget it.”

For a moment, Tortali pondered just doing it anyway. Maybe if she stepped just right, stomped down hard enough she could break his neck…but, no. She spat on him instead and turned, her hood falling off her head as she walked away, hands curled into fists.

Damn b*****d. He was the one who didn’t deserve to be here. And the sooner that they left, the better it would be for everyone involved.

Andreiya had blanked. It wasn’t his finest moment.

She slapped him. She punched him. She kicked him and then she spit on him.

But, she left. His hands were shaking.

Andreiya wasn’t a bad Vanguardian. He knew how important it was to act quickly. He knew you couldn’t stop to think about it. If you valued your life and your objectives, you had to stay on task.

Briefly, he wondered if Commodore Lyndin had been wrong to promote him.

He hadn’t attacked her, hadn’t left a mark. But he hadn’t wanted to fight. He hadn’t wanted to make enemies. He knew they were walking a delicate line here, he knew they were unwanted guests.

He’d been attacked by Negaverse Senshi. He’d been attacked by White Moon Senshi.

He pushed himself up from the ground and looked offended, disgusted, by the state of his uniform. He’d have to sneak into the house wearing a disguise, he didn’t want anyone else to see him like this. He didn’t want them to be ashamed of him.

His glamour was up almost immediately, and he was dressed in an oversized sweater that he used to mop up his face. He couldn’t stop crying, and his face and side still hurt. His pride hurt the worst, though.

He just wanted to go home.
