She had put a lot of effort into looking good. If her water friend Adila was going through he trouble of setting up a date for her then the least she could do was represent.
It was fun to dress up. Most of the time she had recently was devoted to studying the art of magic and little else.
Occassionaly she and Syaa went book shopping at the place they both liked that was run by a Lightning lady, but that was about it for her social outings.
A date was a treat.

It wasn't in Xipili to casually "date". He was much too busy to bother with romance at the moment, but his mentor insisted it was important if he wanted to properly empathize with their clients. She thought he could use it as an opportunity to grow, and even once his father knew about the ploy he'd agreed. Even if it wasn't someone who could help their status it would be valuable practice. So, he'd dressed himself well, though when did he not, and made his way to a natural oasis near the edge of town. To honor the approach of the long sun, 'summer' as some called it, a few minstrels were said to put on a show once the evening was upon them. There would be food, dancing, and music so surely that would be a good place to meet with a date? Finding his date wasn't difficult by any means; he'd already been told she would stand out, and that she did. It wasn't uncommon to see Matorian's for him, but the white hair was new. "Would you happen to Zyura?"

Well if he wasn't the most interesting looking man this side of the desert. "I would indeed which means you are Xipili I take it?" She was glad she had dressed up for this, at least they matched. "This is a nice palce you chose." It truly was beautiful, a breath of fresh air compared to the city. She was determined to have fun and enjoy herself. The music that was playing was lively and bright. She hoped to get a dance or two in tonight. If she was going to take a night off from studying she was going to make the most of it. If this fellow did not want to dance later, then she could go herself after the date was over. But for now she would enjoy the date. She tapped a toe to the beat.

He 'hmmed' in agreement and looked around them. Xipili's critical eye made every crime of fashion immediately apparent to him, but he did his best not to comment on it. This was a date and as much as he wanted to talk he also didn't want to scare her off. He could be a little... intense, as his step-mother called it, and sometimes that rubbed others the wrong way. "So, Zyura, what would you like to do first? Would the lady care for a bite to eat or a dance?" Either way he spend a little time getting to know her better and judging by the way her whole form seemed to light up with the changes in tempo he had a guess as to what she'd prefer.

"Oh, a dance before food would be most welcome." That way she could properly enjoy the energy of the music while not being weighed down with a meal. Besides dancing always made her hungry. This date was already turning out to be pretty fun. Better than she could have expected in fact. He seemed like a decent fellow so far. "The next song then?" She hadn't felt this good in a long time, perhaps once in a while it was okay to put the books down and just have fun.

"Sounds like a plan."In the span it took the current set to wrap up Xipili could continue to study her from the corner of his eye. Was her hybridity the reason she'd been offered as date potential? Or was there something more he hadn't discovered yet? Surely it couldn't be that simple. He wasn't one to believe in coincidences, certainly not those that didn't benefit his coffers, so- "It's our turn". Holding out his hand with a winning smile, Xipili made room for their in the group as a new song started up. It was a jaunty little diddy that was as much a jig as it was a waltz. He'd never heard anything of the like before, but it didn't stop him from reaching for her hand before falling into line. "Do you dance often?"

"Not as much as I would like of course. I have been very busy studying to become a magic user. It is quite difficult but more than rewarding now that I am starting to make good progress. I have been told I'm very strong in it for my age." Her quick turn of wit and unstoppable determination was making a potent student indeed. That being said just having a break from the constant brain crunching was making her feel better than she had in months. "I'm afraid tonight was long overdue."

"Magic is it? Can't say I've had much experience with it beyond seeing a few illusions here and there." It wasn't uncommon for Obans elite to hire mages for their parties; a smattering of dancing lights and a few well places echoes could make any musical talent far exceed their own abilities. "I'll have to keep an ear out for your name as you rise. There may be a day in the future that I'll need to call on you." Illusions were powerful in their own right, but Xipili was always looking for more. Even as they danced around with other couples he was making sure they stood out more which wasn't hard given their striking appearances. Her comment brought a smirk out. "Well, in that case hopefully I meet your expectations-" And with a flourish, he gave her a twist and a 'casual' dip' "-and exceed them."

"I'd be delighted to help you out when you need it. What is your chosen profession?" She asked curiously. She bet it was something very cool. He had a certain charismatic air to him, that was just accentuated by his next words and actions. Her heart skipped then started to race off like it would never come back to a normal rythym. Something it had never ever done before and she was shocked by its sudden happening. "Well," she smirked back, "I cannot yet say that I am disappointed." She could be spicey too, when the situation called for it. If she complimented him too well, he might not try his best and she was now very interested in what his best was.

"An artist, of course." The thick length of his hair momentarily fell over his shoulder before he pulled them both to their feet and into the next steps of the dance. "I started with paint and charcoal, same as many, but found a real passion in ink. Tattoos, to be specific. I've founded a studio in Sulburi named Tatouché that I've grown attached to." He wasn't so prideful to claim his tattoos were the best in Tendaji, but then again, art was subjective. What may be a masterpiece to one would be repulsive to another. Even if he'd had the funds to open his own parlor Xipili was still learning, but one day he would dominate the trade. "A sensible answer from a sensible girl." Anything less and he may have grown bored. "I'll have to do my best to keep you on your toes."

Post 6 She grinned saucily at him. "Likewise." Well this was certianly going better than she had expected. If romance were not to blossom for them for whatever reason, maybe she could snag him for a friend at the least. "I would love to see some of your work sometime." Arts were gorgeous, like still magic to her. "How did you get into the tattoo world specifically? Did you want one? Or did you observe it being done?" She was a bit full of questions as any good scholar aught to be. She span away in the dance putting all the flair and emotion into the movements that were strangled away into stillness during her studies. She let her emotions run, yet her mind was calm like glass as she moved. This was great fun! "When I think of a suitable tattoo perhaps I could hire you to immortalize it?"

"You can! Look across the way there." Xipili pointed with one elongated nail at a well kept woman some distance from them. While the collar of her dress was high the entirely of her back was exposed and every inch was covered in ink. "Do you see the way the keldari tangle around her spine? The way the mist encircles them, the flecks of gold acting as a mystical barrier? She wanted a piece to honor her daughter who has yaeli blood. I made it happen for her."He naturally omitted the parts where she cried during the piece and begged for mercy after receiving a single dot of ink. Xipili wasn't in the business of outing clients, but she was rather dramatic. "Artists are all too common in the elite circles of Sulburi. Nobles and the rich with nothing better to do will paint pictures of perzi and call it a masterpiece. I wanted something fresh." And that he had gotten, twice over it seemed. His 'date' was something new all together and he quite liked it. "I wanted one, of course, but father wouldn't allow it until I was old enough. Now I have these." He motioned to the gold outlining his crystals. Now, there was a work of art! Zyura was really letting herself run wild it seemed and Xipili was a steady, ever moving force to give balance when she needed it. "When you think of one, come find me. I will make you the talk of Tendaji."

The piece he pointed out was truly exquisite and had her mind whirling with possibilities. She was very excited, but perhaps not as excited as she was for the next dance with him. To be able to move again, without worrying about memorizing stuff was good. Perhaps she had been overdoing her magic studies..maybe she was meant for ..something else. It was a thing to ponder. She truly loved to dance. "That tattoo is exquisite." She also admired the gold around his crystals as well. "That is clever." His anchor and frame allowed her a greater range of movement than a less skilled partner would allow. "Anytime you need a dance partner," she gasped, her chest heaving, but not interupting the sassy wink she gave him. "Let me know." This was turning out to be the best night ever. And he was cute too! She was so lucky. They were attracting glances now, at their uniqueness, ferocity and skill at the dance. She felt like a completely different person at this point in the night. Exhilarated hardly covered it.

Several locks of Xipili's rosey hair fell out of their bindings and his pale skin had a nice, healthy flush to it. He may not have liked sweating, but the dance had been good for his spirit. Moving around as freely as she had only spurned him to step out of his boundaries and now he found himself all the better for it. "Watch yourself; I may take you up on that." Tonight was perhaps the first in months that he wasn't focused solely on building connections and securing his good name. For tonight he was just like any other young man in Oba enjoying some time with a pretty young girl.
