Tales of the legendary instantly caught Quynh's attention. The Aishan hybrid had been lingering along the edges of a campfire, a group of older warriors entertaining one another by swapping tales, and while she had originally meant to wander away the mention of these strange traits instead had her sitting down on a nearby log to listen. Apparently both Aishans and earthlings had been seeing a few rare traits amongst their people and the rumors had already spread into some interesting stories. Quynh could only imagine what it must be like to have something like spikes suddenly growing out of your body or a second set of antenna on your head or eyes that glowed in the dark. Would she want something like that to happen and did one receive that blessing from Aisha or some other force in nature? "Strange if it can happen to earthlings as well." She murmured as she continued listening to the stories.

A small formation of Sacred Hearts blended among those sitting around the campfire. Ika’s mentor, Sena, had been asked to go with some of her sisters on a small trip to strengthen their resolve and as her protégé she’d invited Ika. Tonight was their last night in the area before traveling and by all accounts she should have been with her family, but Ika had already said her goodbyes. It was only for a month; a small time for travel, really. Far less than anything her own mother was capable of.

Once Sena was caught up sharing stories with the rest of the warriors about legendary souls, Ika felt it was time to get up. She needed to stretch her legs a little and not to mention she’d seen a similar face earlier in the evening. Unlike their first meeting Ika was now fully armed with two heavy falchion’s hanging off her hips and when she sat down on the log next to Qunyh their weight made an audible ‘thwack’ on the bark. “I’ve read about it, you know, the spikes and what not. In my brother’s books.”

Quynh shifted in surprise as someone came from the crowd and joined her. "Hmm?" It would be a lie to say that her expression didn't brighten at the sight of the familiar hybrid, a light flush decorating her cheeks as she realized she had been caught listening to the stories. "Do you think that they're real though? Some say earthlings have even sprouted feathers and could possibly fly." She shook her head at the thought. How did any of it make sense? "I guess if I had some traits spikes would be handy if I ever needed for hand to hand combat." It was an interesting image at least.

Branching herself on either side, Ika leaned back atop the log and stretched her legs out before her. Despite her almost entirely earthling appearance she’d managed to gain all the size of her Alkidike ancestors which led to its own fair share of curious looks. “I don’t know about flying, but I’ve heard of some with features, ya.” She’d heard of a traveler recently who’d sprouted feathers of his own, but nomads were prone to long tales, weren’t they? “My brother’s stories talked about chieftans of Tale who had claws for hands. They would disappear into the grasses for days at a time and come back changed.”

How much of it Ika believed was up to debate. Since it was just stories she couldn’t be sure, but with all of this talk of recent additions she had to wonder… “I think if it ever happened to me I’d hope for fangs or something. Big long ones to take a chunk out of some dolt’s arm.”

It was hard not to think of the colorful feathers she had tangled in her dreads. Quynh lifted a hand to touch one of the soft decorations, a thoughtful expression crossing her features as she tried to imagine what it would be like if they were actually connected to her. It would definitely be a strange sensation. Changed?" She chuckled at the image. "Are they now beasts from living in the wilds? Or I wonder if they conquered some strange creatures and obtained their essence or got devoured instead." It was one of many rumors that some earthlings became more like beasts from living in the wild or something that some of the more traditionalists liked to believe about the lesser species.

For Quynh it was obviously just stories but it was always fun to share. There were truly a lot of mysteries in this world after all. "So you like to bite then?" Quynh teased with a playful grin towards Ika. It seemed the older warriors were running out of interesting stories, especially now that Quynh had even more interesting company. "Maybe we could come up with some good legendary traits to spread more rumors with the others." She mused. It was always fun to watch the reactions of younglings to these sort of stories, the creepier and scarier the better.

Ika rolled her eyes; an action that actually held meaning with her as opposed to the other Aishans thanks to her pupils. “They’re hardly beasts, even if they look the part. I don’t know anyone myself whose gone through the ordeal so I’ll just have to go on my best guess of it.”

If her grandfather still doddled around Belrea, adding to the family numbers through his rendezvous’ with random women, he may very well be a legend one day. In some sense, anyway. “If you can’t stab ‘em or punch ‘em, then bite.” She shrugged with a grin of her own. “My teacher says it’s shameful, but I say if it works it works.” When the time came for Ika to defend herself she would unleash hell’s fury upon her opponent in whatever ways she could. Maybe her legendary blessing should be fire breath, then?

“What did you have in mind?”

"Shame. It would probably be pretty freeing to forget all of your worries and live in the wilderness. " Quynh could already imagine what type of stories that could spring along with others. It was a shame that Aishan culture looked down on the idea of sisters simply training in the arts. Maybe if she had been earthling the girl could have become a bard. Quynh enjoyed the hunt as well though so she wouldn't trade her blades for the world.

"Fair enough." Agreed Quynh with a laugh. Maybe there was a bit of a beast in that quality alone, but it made Ika more interesting to the Aishan hybrid. "Well there's a few younglings and other apprentices that can be fairly jumpy. What if traits can happen that aren't quite so legendary? Cursed appearances from the Dretch maybe if you arent careful or slack off in your studies?" Oh she did enjoy spinning stories. "Scales that could cover one's eyes if they turn a blind eye to someone in need...or someone greedy gaining hooves or something strange like that." Quynh gave a slight shrug. "My mothers enjoy spooky stories and it's always best to tell them around an evening fire."

At the mention of the dretch the leafling hybrid’s face made a scandalous ‘o’. “Ooo, now that’s a good one. Too bad I haven’t heard of any of this happening to younglings. You’d have to tell them if they grew up to be bad and didn’t keep up with their training that Aisha would curse them or something.”

The idea of horrifying traits was more fun to Ika. It was nice to give in to the stories being spread around them, but quite another entirely to be the one messing with the flow. “What if they got spines on their backs? Like, something so large it couldn’t possibly be of use and so heavy it would make them hunch like an old woman?”

"Hopefully it hasn't happened." Replied Quynh with a playful gasp. "We would be in some serious trouble then. But it is fun to stir their imaginations."

She made a face at the idea Ika presented before grinning mischievously. "That sounds awful. I like it!" Her pale green gaze studied the bonfire for a moment before she glanced back to Ika. "What about spores instead of flowers or vines sprouting from.their hair? Or just along their body in general? Like those stinky ones that explode in the swamps of Yael." Definitely not a pleasant experience at all.

If Sena heard the plans her pupil was making she would be incredibly disappointed. It was one thing to spread scary stories founded in truth, but falsehoods…A part of Ika wondered if it would still be amusing if it came back that she helped start it. Still, so long as she sprinkled in enough facts then it should be okay, right?

“You could also talk about those sticky mushrooms instead of vines. Imagine if they sprouted in place of antennae.” She raised her hands to the top of her head and ‘popped’ them light sprouting mushrooms. “Imagine how they would get stuck to everything.”

"That could be handy." Quynh teased with a laugh. "Imagine just hopping from branch to branch to climb a tree with them." She could just imagine someone actually trying that, the little mushrooms somehow giving them more momentum despite the odd appearance. Though it would be unfortunate if everything truly did stick to them. What a mess! Quynh shook her head with an amused smirk. "I think the stories definitely are missing some of these elements. If anything maybe some of them can have some valuable lessons hidden inside for others, once they look past the surface." She gave a light shrug as she thought of all the scary and playful stories she had been told as a youngling. Roaming constantly with a mixed heritage left little room for friends so her imagination usually went wild when she played around the camp while waiting for her mothers to return. It was nice to actually spend the time with someone else and swap ideas for once. Even if they were just making up some ridiculous rumors that would surely only scare some younglings it was still fun.

"I guess if I had to be cursed some mushrooms would be alright. I would just have to be careful and not try to headbutt anyone in a fight." Quynh crinkled her nose at the thought. "Imagine being stuck to your opponent like that. How would you ever finish the fight?"

“I’d rather run myself through with a sword to be done with it.” Ika let out a snort of a laugh. “Still…I think that if Aisha were going to gift someone with anything it would be a blessing and not a curse. So I’m not sure how far the rumors would actually go.” When Sena’s group started to stand Ika knew her time was coming to an end. They would start making their way back to Chibale soon to prepare and she needed to be ready for that.

“Maybe she’d be nice enough to give me an extra pair of eyes to see in the dark. Then I wouldn’t need torches.” As she spoke Ika started to rise and stretch out her limbs.

"True." Quynh nodded in agreement. "I guess it would be traits from somewhere or something else if they were curses." She could not imagine the great mother cursing her children either...not unless they were truly awful perhaps. But even the extremists had been given their own home and daughters in the end so Qunyh supposed the whole concept of love and forgiveness was still ideal for Aisha. The hybrid could only shake her head before finally standing up. Her mothers would surely be looking for her soon so the fun would have to end. If some rumors about legendary and cursed traits spread then so be it and if not at least it was fun to bounce ideas with a friend.

"Perhaps. Or she could give you antenna that glow." Quynh smiled as she glanced around at the dispersing group. "If you're traveling soon then I wish you the best. Maybe when you come back if it gets too dark I can help you navigate the darkness." The hybrid waved playfully towards Ika before venturing away, her steps taking her further into the jungle and away from the gathering of sisters who were preparing for their journey.

"How will I ever see you? You'll blend in with the fungi." In a sea of glowing mushrooms Qunyh's antennae wouldn't be visible at all, though that would likely come to her advantage, especially given how many antennae the hybrid had. She'd always been jealous of her brother for having them, but Ika didn't think she'd like to have some that went down her neck...

Throwing up a hand of her own, Ika waited a moment before turning toward her traveling group and making her way out of the area.
