Date Night

Love is in the air and it is exhausting. It seems everyone is so excited to meet someone new and see if they 'click'. To the point where this new trend has spread across Tendaji - Blind Dates.
The concept is pretty simple - you have a friend (or a matchmaker) set up a date with someone you've never met before. Some find this exhilarating - a chance to go beyond the same old and meet someone new. But others see this as unnecessary anxiety forced upon them by their friends or society's pressure.
Either way, you find yourself set up on a date not of your choosing, with a stranger who you've never met before. This could either be the person of your dreams...or a big mistake. Guess the only thing you can do is see where this date takes you.

For those who are already in a relationship, it's hard to host a 'blind date', but you can get close. It's time to surprise your significant other with a night date, just the two of you. No family, no children, just a chance to spend time with the one you love.
[ It's date night! This prompt should include a date with a stranger, either set up by your friends or by a matchmaker. If you're RPing your character with another, we ask that it be someone new (within reason to where your character is currently located). If you're RPing alone, create a new NPC and see where the night takes you.
Who knows, maybe this will be your character's future partner...or maybe an awkward enemy. What's the harm in the name of love?
For those who have characters already in a relationship, we're instead looking for a "Surprise Date" where one of the partners surprises the other with ad ate experience. ]

The festival passed in a blur as Kalpana could only think of Malea while his customers came and went. He never would have guessed that she would have taken up his offer and was glad he finally listened to his old man for once and helped with the stall.
As he finally got the okay to leave, he tugged his apron off and raked his hands through his hair, hoping it looked okay.

Malea had enjoyed the festival day and was anxiously waiting for Kalpana to be done. She was hovering nearby, watching as she pulled his apron off and seemed to end his shift.
She floated toward him, tugging on her hands. "Well... I told you I would find you later and here I am." She commented with a tentative smile. "Are you ready?" She asked him. She thought about their previous encounter and how up front he had been. If this was anything like that, it would be a night to remember.

Kalpana 2 Kalpana smiled a wide grin as Malea joined him, glad she actually showed up. He had the whole night planned and was ready to enjoy it with her. He held his hand out and they began working their way towards more shallow waters. "I'm glad you're here. Not going to lie I wasn't sure if you would come." He said with a small laugh. Quickly realizing what he said he began to stutter. "N-not that I thought you were going to stand me up or anything. I just thought that.. you know..." He said before trailing off. "Sorry I'm nervous." He said before laughing once more.

Malea giggled at Kalpana's stuttering, it was endearing.
She held onto Kalpana's hand and let him lead the way through the waters and toward the shallows. "Well... I'm a person of my word I guess." She threw a smile to the menehune boy.
"Where are we going?" She asked him, curious as to what was planned. The festival had wound down but it definitely wasn't over. He had promised drinks, but wasn't sure if that was still the plan.

Kalpana 3 As the two wandered through the festival, Kalpana noticed he didn't feel as nervous anymore and felt comfortable with Malea. They made their way to a small hut where some were gathered and drinking while some where playing games and he pointed at the sign. "This is where I go usually. It's not the best place but they make really good drinks." He said with a chuckle. He hoped it wasn't too casual and didn't want to mess up his chance.

Malea looked toward the small hut Kalpana had pointed to. It was a little hole in the wall type place, but the energy from inside was jovial rather than intimidating. It seemed like the kahikinans inside where having a fun time for themselves.
”If you vouch for it, I believe you.” She smiled to him. She waited for him to lead the way inside. She had never been here before, so for her to be in front was intimidating.

Kalpana 4 Kalpana smiled at Malea's response and lead her inside. Folks called out to him and he said his hellos before making their way to a small table away from the chatter. He heard the taunt of his family in his mind about being a 'true gentleman' and quickened his pace to pull out the chair for her. "Here you go." He said before sitting down. "Their barbeque is nice. Y-you know, If your hungry. But you don't have to be hungry. I'm just giving you the option." He said in a nervous spew before catching himself and slowing down. "So what do you like to do for fun?"

Malea let Kalpana lead the way and took the seat that was offered to her. It wasn't hard to tell that he was a regular there and everyone seemed to know his face.
Kalpana's words came out faster than Malea could take in and she looked up at the menehune lost before what he was saying sank in and caught up with her. "Oh! Well, I could eat. I mean, I ate some at the festival but it was mostly sweets. Something hot sounds nice." She smiled to him and leaned in closer to put her elbow on the table while they talked. "I... well, I don't really have much for hobbies. I've been trying for a while to come up with some new elixirs, but it's been taking up most of my time." She thought hard about it, but free time hadn't really been in the cards for her lately. "What about you?" She asked him back. She didn't really know much about him if she thought about it really.

Elixirs… Kalpana looked at Malea blankly for a split second, trying to process what he was hearing. Did he know she was a witch? Was she a witch? Is that what this was? His brain made the jump from one thought to the next while his mouth moved more slowly. “Soooo… you… make magic?” He felt like he was dumbing down something incredibly more complex, but had no other way to put it on the spot.
“Yeah, that’s cool too. I mean, I don’t really know much about anything like that, I mostly just work and when I can I fish.” He leaned his arm against the table they were sitting at, trying his best to also sound interesting.

Malea giggled at Kalpana’s reaction. She was starting to feel like he was just trying to impress her, but couldn’t quite get into the swing of things. She put a hand out and onto his arm. “That sounds fun! And relaxing, though I guess it depends what kind of fishing you do, right?” She turned her head and smiled to him.
“I’ve been wanting to try out some new hobbies, maybe you can take me fishing sometime?” She asked him sincerely. She didn’t know if fishing would be her second calling, but she should probably work on something other than her brews.
“And you could say I ‘make magic’ I guess. I’m trying to start my own business with potions and elixirs. I trained in enchantments.” She offered, though to someone not acquainted with magic it probably sounded like a second language.

Kalpana felt his head growing larger and his grin widening on his face. She liked him. She even offered to go fishing with him, which he could obviously tell was just because he was interested in it. Malea did not look like the kind of girl that would normally want to go on a fishing trip.
“Yeah! I would take you.” He hesitated a moment, trying to figure out if he should push his luck. “So… I know we’ve only known each other for so long but… I would really like to get to know you better… you know…” He felt flustered and could feel a blush growing on his cheeks.
“I guess what I’m saying is I want to get to know you more. And maybe see each other again? I know we have the rest of the night to go, but I feel like we’ve got something and maybe you feel it too already?” He chuckled and waited to see what she said. He was being forward, but that just seemed right.

Malea blushed furiously at his words. It sounded like a confession of some kind, like he was already trying to woo her over, but she swallowed and tried to get the words out steady. “Well… I mean… I think I would like that.” She answered him.
Something about Kalpana had her heart beating faster and she just felt like there was electricity in the air. Everything felt sharper, and it was a welcomed feeling.
She wanted to find out where this would go. Maybe their friendship would be deeper than she realized and fate had brought them together.
“We have so much to do still tonight, but I would love to see you more. It sounds like you owe me a fishing trip and I think to pay you back for that maybe you can visit my shop.” She smiled warmly to the menehune.

Kalpana felt his cheeks hurting from smiling so broadly and it took everything in him to keep him from hollering inside of the tavern they were in. Still he couldn’t keep inside the small hoot that escaped before he hushed himself. “Listen. I think that’s a great idea.”
He looked around the room and snapped over the waitress. “We need some celebratory drinks.” He rambled on to the waitress and thanked her for her help as she left them to get the drinks he had ordered. “You’re giving me a lot to look forward to.” He grinned to Malea again, wanting to take her up in a large hug but definitely not doing that so early in their relationship.

Malea laughed out at Kalpana’s show of excitement. It was cute, and Kalpana was a handsome man. Though she shook that thought out very quickly. She was agreeing to a friendship, not anything… like that. Or so she assumed at least.
He called the waitress over and rambled on to her about his new friend and she grinned with Kalpana and couldn’t wait to see what the rest of the night had in store for them.
