16 - 20: What Luck! Wow - this is a rare gemstone not seen around these parts. While not big, it's still something you could add to a necklace or ring.
Cyrus was excited. He was traveling through Sauti with his mother and they had stopped at the local village where the nearby shop had been selling these sifters that apparently could drag treasure out of the nearby stream. His mother had some artisan meetings this morning and had thought it would be a fun idea to give the boys something to do while they waited. Now Cyrus was wading in the stream waiting on Sylas to join him while trying to figure out exactly how to use this sifter.
"So you take the dirt and stuff from the bottom of the stream and shake it free to reveal the treasure?" He mused as he shook the thing back and forth as if that would help him to understand it better.

Sylas had hurried through his morning chores doing them slightly less as good as he should have but he was just excited to go and meet with his brother. Apparently he had something fun for them to do today! He wondered what it could be. Some fun new game? Perhaps a new place to explore? He would really like to go exploring in the unused portions of the home again but they hadn't had the opportunity to do so yet. As he ran down to the stream where Cyrus had told him to meet this morning. "Take dirt and do what with what to get treasure? Are we going on a treasure hunt?" Sy said excitedly.

"Yeah." Cyrus grinned towards his brother and held up the sifter. "This apparently helps to shake dirt away from gemstones. A lot of people said that the stream hides gems and even gold sometimes!" He made a face though as he just shook a bunch of dirt free. Was it really possible that this little open box could do so much? Well there were the wires....but still.
"Wanna try?" He handed it out towards his brother as an offering. "Grab some of the stuff at the bottom and we'll see how fortunate you are."

Sylas narrowed his eyes at Cyrus' explanation. "Surely that can't be right. I mean, wouldn't the water just wash everything away and we'd be able to see gemstones or gold up top? Doesn't make sense to me..." Why would gemstones or gold even be in rivers? It's not like it was a safe place to store your valuables. Or maybe it was because people wouldn't think about it! Except they had these....boxes that were specifically made for it, so he was probably right in the first place. "I don't know about this but at the very least we get to dig around right?" Sylas took the box as he smiled and bent down into the water. Hmm how was he supposed to do this. Perhaps he should have let his brother go first. He tried to use it like he would a little shovel but that didn't work very well so instead he set it down on the stream bed and pushed it down a little so it wouldn't float away. Then he dug his hands down as deep as he could into the muck and shoveled whatever he could into the box. He struggled to lift the box again but ended up being able to in the end. "Okayyyy..." He let the word drag a little bit with his suspicion. "Now what?" He asked Cyrus.

Cyrus shook his head. "Apparently the dirt and silt from the bottom clings to the rocks." He made a face before shrugging. "Either way that's how the adults said it worked so we may as well try?" He nodded in agreement as his brother decided to join in with him. Surely they could at least find some cool rocks if anything! Cyrus was honestly curious to see what they could find and if there were gemstones hiding at the bottom of the river then maybe he could buy some treats while they were in town.
"You rinse off the dirt by holding it carefully and shaking everything around." Cyrus made a face as he realized how much of a disaster that explanation could be. "Gently that is. Just let the water rinse off the dirt and we can look at whatever rocks stay behind."

Sylas sure was glad that Cyrus knew what they were supposed to be doing with this thing because he sure didn't! He had just been about to shake the thing as quickly as he could in order to see if he found anything when Cy made sure to tell him they were supposed to do it carefully. "Oh okay." He said before starting to gently shake the box back and forth. "Do you think there'd be anything in this river? Seems a little bit crazy to me." Wouldn't they have found something by now with all their time of playing in this stream? He'd like to think so. They were boys after all. Getting dirty and into trouble were practically what they were made for!

"I mean anything is possible, right?" Cyrus pursed his lips thoughtfully. And so to be encouraging the youngling decided to try his luck again. This time as he demonstrated to Sylas, Cyrus actually found something shimmering in the dirt. A bluish stone with green and orange streaks through it?!
"No way..." He rubbed the dirt from it and held it up towards the light. "I uh mean...of course I believed there was treasure here!" Cyrus managed as he held the stone out towards his brother to show off his find.

"WHOA!" Sylas shouted excitedly. "I really didn't think there would be anything here..." Sylas had been pretty skeptical about this whole thing but they had actually found something! He reached out and took the stone from his brother. "What kind of whatever do you think this is? Think it might be worth something?" It had a lot of potential. Maybe they could buy something with it...maybe!

"Maybe." Cyrus blinked at the thought. What if he could get a lot of money from a trader for it? But then again he shook his head just as quickly. "If it's super rare then I think it would be cool to hold onto it! Maybe I can ask mama to craft a necklace or something." He beamed towards his brother happily. That would be super neat! "Now what if we find something for you? We can both ask mama to craft us some jewelry!"

"I'm okay with that too! It can become something like a family heirloom thing if we don't lose it!" He could only think of it being super expensive and then everyone wanting it but they keep it in the family because they found it together! "Yeah let's keep looking! Maybe we can find another one to match for me and we can having something that matches. I think that would be pretty cool." And he did, Sy didn't mind sharing things with his brother and could only hope that it stayed that way. "Do you think we should keep looking right here or should we move somewhere else?"

Cyrus nodded. A family heirloom was an awesome idea. It made him feel like he had contributed something to his family which made his chest puff out a bit. Now if Sylas could find another stone that would really make this an amazing day. While Cyrus was proud that he had found something it always felt better if he could share with his twin so he was determined to look especially hard. "Maybe we can find something with more gold in it for you. That would be cool." He mused before gesturing up the river. "Maybe further up? I'll leave it to you though. I probably used up all my luck." He teased playfully as he started splashing up the stream, his damp tunic dragging slightly against the current.

Sylas nodded back to his brother. "That sounds like a good enough idea. Maybe I'll grab hand fulls of stuff on the way down there! I'd be okay with something that looks like the one you have though. Isn't there such a thing as fools gold? That would probably be what I would find!" He laughed. They'd gone a little ways down the stream and he had a little bit in his little sifter box so he grabbed a big hand full once more and added it to his box before shaking carefully. "Wait....I think I have something here! You look! Tell me what you think it is!" He smashed his eyes closed, enjoying the excitement of it all.
11 - 15: Golden Treasure! Gold, and a good amount! It's not a bar or anything, but you could use it to make some jewelry.

"Oh!" Cyrus moved so that he could help Sylas uncover his discovery. The boy's gaze widened as he recognized the gleam from his mother's own favorite jewelry. "Well you may be a fool but I think that's actual gold." He commented with a laugh as he rinsed off the rest of the dirt to reveal the golden piece of ore. They could definitely use it to make a pretty piece of jewelry! Oh wait! Cyrus grinned as an idea formed in his head.
"Maybe we can ask Mama to make jewelry using this stone and your gold? We can have matching pieces." He was certain that their mother could easily cut the gemstone into pieces and use the two shards as amulets! So maybe this whole looking for treasure thing wasn't such a bad idea after all. Cyrus would definitely consider it a successful day, even if they weren't coming home with piles of gold they still had fun and gotten something special out of it.

Sylas made a mocking face at his brother when he was teased. "Maybe you'll end up being the fool when Mama tells us its not real. It would be preeettty cool if it was real though!" He managed part of a whistle though it sounded a little pathetic. He was still working on those. "Oh you think so? That'd be pretty cool. We should think up what we want them to look like! We'd have the coolest amulets around!" Even in his excitement he made sure to keep a good grip on his treasure. "Okay I need to know if this is real. Let's hurry home! We need to keep these boxes though, we're definitely doing this again!" Sy laughed as he splashed out of the stream, happy as can be.
