Love is in the air and it is exhausting. It seems everyone is so excited to meet someone new and see if they 'click'. To the point where this new trend has spread across Tendaji - Blind Dates.
The concept is pretty simple - you have a friend (or a matchmaker) set up a date with someone you've never met before. Some find this exhilarating - a chance to go beyond the same old and meet someone new. But others see this as unnecessary anxiety forced upon them by their friends or society's pressure.
Either way, you find yourself set up on a date not of your choosing, with a stranger who you've never met before. This could either be the person of your dreams...or a big mistake. Guess the only thing you can do is see where this date takes you.
---
For those who are already in a relationship, it's hard to host a 'blind date', but you can get close. It's time to surprise your significant other with a night date, just the two of you. No family, no children, just a chance to spend time with the one you love.
[ It's date night! This prompt should include a date with a stranger, either set up by your friends or by a matchmaker. If you're RPing your character with another, we ask that it be someone new (within reason to where your character is currently located). If you're RPing alone, create a new NPC and see where the night takes you.
Who knows, maybe this will be your character's future partner...or maybe an awkward enemy. What's the harm in the name of love?
For those who have characters already in a relationship, we're instead looking for a "Surprise Date" where one of the partners surprises the other with ad ate experience. ]
Up until a few weeks ago Ilsa had never been able from Chibale. Her mothers had talked about visiting Zinris a time or two over the years, but when it came time to set plans into motion there were always obstacles. So, she'd stayed, and was happy enough doing so until they went out into Jauhar with some of Mama Kanai's friends. A friendly trip, they'd called it; a week away for some adventure and fun. She was growing older so it was to be expected that she might show some inclinations toward the other young girls in their group, but when Ilsa stayed away her mothers grew concerned.
A few conversations with the innkeeper later and suddenly Ilsa was being set up on a blind date.
She'd been horrified and begged to get out of it, but once Kanai's mind was set that's all there was to it. If she wasn't interested in Aishans then maybe an earthling! Ultimately they just wanted her to be happy and she just wanted to go back home.
And yet, here she sat, on a bench in the village center with a red ribbon tied around her wrist. It was supposed to help her date find her easier, though, judging by those around her, she doubted she blended in at all.

Yejide shifted uncomfortably from foot to foot. She was supposed to be meeting someone here, but had only a name and was told she was wearing a red ribbon.
Yejide was still new to town and needed to start feeling like this was home. It was only a matter of time before she could stand on her own in Jauhar, but for now the innkeeper was nice enough to let her have a room to herself with the promise of paying her back later. Though now it came with a condition. There's a lovely lady looking to go on a date - a blind date, she was told by the innkeeper. The innkeeper had a broad and devious smile on her face, like she enjoyed matchmaking, and Yejide felt like she couldn't refuse. Not after all she had done for her out of good will.
Yejide spotted the red ribbon tied to a very colorful body and had to give her a double take. Well, she supposed this was Ilsa? She hesitated for a second before making a beeline for the... much younger... girl. "Ilsa?" She questioned, holding a thin hand out to the girl she assumed couldn't be older than eighteen.

Ilsa looked to be almost brooding when she was approached. She'd been ruminating the consequences of simply leaving and what that would do to her reputation when her date arrived. When she looked up from her knees she was surprised to see an Oban woman. Even though she'd been told to expect an earthling Ilsa had just assumed it would be a shifter or at the very least someone with shifter blood so Yejide was certainly a surprise.
She was...most definitely not a teenager. This was a woman well into her prime and not still in the same awkward phase that Ilsa was, but...well, she couldn't be rude about that and say it, could she? Instead, she rose to greet Yejide, instantly putting her more than a head above her. Even among Aishan's Ilsa was growing into quite the behemoth so compared to an earthling...
She took the smaller, thin hand in her own meaty paw and gave it a careful squeeze. "That's me. And you're Yejide?" Her head tilted a bit to get a better look at the marking - no, ink - on the Oban's arm. "Is that a tattoo?"

Yejide watched the woman stand and immediately tower over her, which was surprising. Yejide was already a tall woman for an earthling, but still Ilsa was clearly a full head taller than her, if not more. She had met aishans before but Ilsa was clearly taller than her own kind.
The hand reciprocating was strong as well, even the little squeeze showed the power behind it. She nodded to Ilsa and widened her eyes at the question. "Oh yeah, this one." Yejide lifted her arm out to showcase the tattoo that covered the majority of her upper arm. "It's just one of three." She patted her side, suggesting that there was another one under her clothes. She assumed the one on her chest was noticeable enough. "Do you have any?" She asked. Aishans came with their own markings but she didn't know if they also chose to tattoo. Ilsa's seemed to be a very pretty teal against her dark skin.

If she were being entirely honest Ilsa expected Yejide to be shorter. Most of the earthlings she'd encountered coming here had been, but the gap wasn't nearly as obvious here. Relatively speaking, that is.
When she lifted her arm Ilsa instinctively dipped her knees and tilted her head down, a few of her dreads tumbling over her shoulder as she got a closer look. "It's pretty. Reminds me of a lotus bloom." As she straightened back up the earthling was patting her side, and then the other one...Well, Ilsa wasn't going to look at that one for very long. A side glance had been more than enough, thanks.
"Ah- Uh, no, I don't." Goddess, her mothers would flay her. "I was taught that Aisha gave me all the markings I'm supposed to have, but maybe one day I will." Chances were incredibly slim, but Ilsa didn't feel as if she were completely lying. She did like the look on them on Yejide, but the thought of having as large of a piece on her own bicep didn't sit well with Ilsa.
"How long have you been in Jauhar?"

Yejide flashed Ilsa a smile when she mentioned the lotus bloom. Yejide didn’t have much of a history with Aishans but even she knew that the lotus was what gave them younglings. It wasn’t her intention but it was a nice interpretation from another’s perspective.
Ilsa answered her question and it made a lot of sense to Yejide. Why add more to what your goddess made already, right? If Yejide believed that one of her gods had given her something, she would be hard pressed to change it… or at least she guessed she would feel that way. Her gods had never shown up like that for her. ”Well it’s hard to improve what’s already beautiful, right?” She answered Ilsa. The teal color of her markings were gorgeous against her complexion. She had never seen anything like it before on an Aishan.
”It’s been a little less than a year.” She thought back on her history through the years and offered more detail. ”I used to live in Jauhar a long time ago, but I wouldn’t say that I considered myself moved in. Do you live in Jauhar?”
She had no idea where this girl would call home, whether it was Jauhar or somewhere totally foreign. Maybe she lived on the ever mysterious island to the west that the alkidike came from.

It's all good x3
Already... Ilsa's eyes widened in surprise and she closed her mouth with an embarrassed swallow. Was she saying that the markings in general were beautiful or that hers were-? Focus. If she'd been complimented more growing up then maybe Ilsa would know how to handle one, but goddess was her heart supposed to beat that quickly?
"H-have you found that much has changed since you were last here?" Ilsa took a steadying breath to calm herself and tried to stand with a little more composure. "I imagine it must be hard adjusting to the area after some time, especially if you've been traveling. I've stayed in Chibale my entire life, but one of my mothers is from Zinris and we're branching out a little now."
Which was why she was here at all. In her younger years they'd kept her close to others of her kind for safety, but now was as good a time as any for exposure. Ilsa, to her credit, was handling it about as well as anyone could in her position; with apprehension and a great desire to go home.

Yejide thought back to when she used to live in Jauhar. She was probably this woman's age or even younger. It had been a long time. "Oh yes. I'd say it's been more than a decade since the last time I lived in Jauhar. Between the wars and rebuilding, I can barely recognize the place."
Zinris... Yejide tried to imagine where that was. She wasn't so sure, was that the one on Yael? Or overseas? "You'll have to forgive me. I'm not too familiar with the Aishans territories. Is that Yael?" She decided to just ask aloud. She hoped it wasn't an offensive subject to Aishans. She wasn't trying to hurt feelings or cause tension. Yejide was starting to genuinely like the girl.
"It's a tough adjustment, but after so many years away I missed it here." She hadn't known anywhere else besides Jauhar and Oba and she was more than ready to leave her family behind after she had reconciled with her parents.
"Would you think you would travel more if given the chance?" It was something she asked herself and it sounded like this Aishans woman was facing the same choices she had to make herself.

"Yes," She answered a little too quickly and caught herself. "It's west of Pajore, if you've ever a mind to visit Yael. I wouldn't recommend you getting too close to Zinris, but mother always says nice things about Yael. She's told me about stones that reach for the sky and moss that covers everything like blankets."
The distance between the ages wasn't as apparent in the beginning as it was now. Yejide had already experienced so much where as most of Ilsa's information on the world had come from her mothers. She was as envious as she was curious and skeptical, but the thought of traveling...
"I...yes? No?...I don't know." It felt rude to lie, especially since this earthling had been so forthcoming. Ilsa took a deep breath and let it out on an uneasy sigh. "Honestly I've never given it much thought." She may not have fit in perfectly with others her own age, but at least there she was guaranteed safety. On her own, traveling the world, anything could happen. She's done it though; she did it and she lived.
"I wouldn't mind seeing an airship. I've heard a thing or two about them, but I just don't see how they can make a ship fly."
Posted: Sat Nov 11, 2023 11:24 am
Yejide tilted her head to the side. ”An airship, huh? Truthfully I never made it that far east.” Belrea had never really been on her radar, though she did remember an excursion to Sauti and Zena when she was younger, but that was before even the idea of airships had permeated the thoughts of Tendaji.
”What if we went together?” Yejide pitched the idea nonchalantly. The date was turning in unexpected directions, but she didn’t mind. What had once been a favor for her landlord seemed to be becoming grandiose ideas for major plans. Though she didn’t even know if the young aishan woman would even bite at the offer.

"It just sounds off to me." Ilsa gave into an awkward chuckle. "Ships can't fly; it has to be something else and they're just calling it that." She'd spoken to a few sisters who had seen them up close, but it still didn't sound right. Ships were for water, wings were for the sky and that was that, right?
"To...together? You and me?" Ilsa motioned between the two of them with her index finger, her dark eyes wide as she processed the offer. Was this something that normally happened on dates or was it just Yejide? She could go...see the world beyond the sea with this charming woman...that she'd just met! It was crazy, she had duties, she had training-!
"I have two gold." Ilsa nearly blurted and then immediately wished she hadn't. What kind of line was that.

Yejide looked at the young aishan woman with a blank stare as she blurted out about money before slowly breaking out into a laugh. ”I can’t tell if you’re trying to bribe me to go away or if you’re worried you don’t have funds for a trip.”
She shrugged her shoulders and looked off into the canopy of Jauhar. ”Money isn’t really an issue. I have… means.” She offered to Ilsa. If it was something the aishan was interested in, this could be the next leg in Yejide’s journey. Maybe Jauhar wasn’t the end to her story at this point. She still had places to see.
She turned to look at the aishan woman out of the corner of her eyes, her smile creating small wrinkles in the folds of her cheeks. ”You can think on it. The airships aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. If you don’t mind an old Oban woman as company my offer still stands.”

Last from me <3
Ilsa's cheeks burned and she raised her hands in a panic. "No! It's not like - it's nothing -" She didn't think she'd ever tripped over her words more than in that moment! "It's just - erm, I don't have much use for coin so I don't have a lot of it. My mothers help and the rest I usually just trade...for..." Was bringing up her mothers bad in a date? Was she babbling? Ilsa scrunched up her face with an uncomfortable mumble. "Thank you," She murmured at last.
"Where can I find you, if I want to go? And how soon do you need to know?" There was something about that smile that calmed her a little. Being laughed at still burned, but Ilsa knew it was over what she'd said and not because she was being judged. That...helped a lot. "...You're not old until your knees snap when you sit down."

Yejide laughed out at Ilsa’s comment. ”Then book me a crypt. Everything pops if you beat up your body enough while you were young.” She grinned and looked at the younger girl with warmth.
”If you want to go, I’m staying at this inn down the way.” She pointed her thumb back the way she had originally come from. ”I’m in no rush, just find me when you’re ready. I have no where else to be yet.” She offered to Ilsa. She hadn’t had any plans to travel when the day started, but it was sounding more and more like it was going to be a new chapter in Yejide’s journey of life. The gods had more plans for her after all.
