There was one person Kerberos very much wanted to see. Lellouch was--grounding, for him. He knew most people probably wouldn't believe him if he said so; sometimes he didn't quite believe it himself, all things considered. But it was true. Lellouch had been important to him for a long time, and while they weren't as entwined as they'd been in that nightmare future, when they were practically one mind in two bodies--
Which was not a level of closeness Kerberos ever wanted to achieve with anyone again, thank you very much--
He loved her.
And with the growing threat of Chaos on his planet, with the strange monster growing around the First Flower...Kerberos wasn't sure what his future might be. If his planet was snuffed out, poisoned to the core, he didn't want to guess what might happen to him. But he wanted to find her. Wanted to make sure she was safe. Wanted to get her out of the Negaverse, at least.
So he went to one of their regular meeting spots. Sat under an old oak tree. Waited.

He knew she was in the tree.
She knew, he knew.
Her gaze shifted from him, to the flowers sprouting around him. She still couldn't believe that little detail... It was still a bit off putting to see honestly. But in the same breath... She thought it fit him. There was a part of her that wished it was a tad less depressing, but... then again, it probably wouldn't fit just right. Lellouch tilted her head, squinting down at the smaller form.
Something felt... different? ...Off. She couldn't quite place what it was, or why she even felt like that. But whatever it was, it didn't feel right..
Speaking of...
She swung down from her current spot, hanging upside down momentarily before dropping to the ground beside him, ignoring the way the flowers seemed to crunch under her boots. "New." She said, pointing to his arm and vine like scars that seemed to crawl around his arm. If there was anything she'd remember... Lellouch was vividly aware of Kerberos' scars...
On a level of closeness Lellouch never meant to achieve with anyone.

Kerberos expected her. Lellouch always arrived when it suited her best, and that time often coincided with when he was looking for her. Seeing her drop down in front of him managed to bring a smile to his face, even if it was a little wry, and he held up his arm so she could see better.
"Yeah, funny story, that. Decided to donate some energy to someone who was giving off volatile magic. Backlashed some. Hurt, but I'm fine now." He shrugged his shoulders, and then looked her up and down, searching for any sign that she might be hurt, or that anything had gone--well, more wrong for her in the Negaverse than it had been going.
"Everything been okay with you?"

Lellouch fixed him with a flat stare, but inspected the scars none the less. Normally, it would be up her alley to harass him, to make him realize what he did was stupid and that he could get hurt. But not this time.
He'd gotten the point.
Though when he inspected her, she paused. Lellouch's gaze shifted again, to his face this time. "...Yes?" She said slowly, eying him. "Nothing out of the usual." For whatever her usual was.
Harassing Benitoite.
Irritating her brother.
Lellouch scowled.
Boring, was what her usual was.
"Why?" It wasn't like him to fuss... Well it was... But again, something felt off. "What's wrong?"

“Why? What’s wrong?”
Such simple things for her to ask, and yet the answer was so much more complicated than Kerberos could even think to explain. So he took a deep breath. Let it out.
“Sit with me?” He asked, voice soft. “It’s a long story, and it’ll take a while to tell.” To say the absolute least. “Though I guess the start is…my planet. It just started getting life back, moths and butterflies and crickets and these round little foxes—but all that is being reversed. There’s a poison there. Chaos. I don’t know what kind, or from where, but it’;s eating my world, and if it goes any further….” He rubbed his hand over the markings on his arm. “I don’t know what it’ll do to me. And it just…made me think of you, and how you’ve been in the Negaverse all these years, and I kinda just…let it go? But if something bad is going to happen, I can’t just let everything end without trying. At least once. To ask you to come home with me.”

She sat next to him, far enough away that he had plenty of space, but close enough that he could still reach for her if needed. The senshi glanced at the marks but said nothing. She held no opinion on transcendence, and whether or not it was worth it. But Kerberos seemed to be happy with his choice. That was what she cared about.
"I've never been." Lellouch reminded him. Despite all they'd done, how much time they spent with each other, that was the one line they hadn't crossed. Since when were planets getting life back? She didn't remember any life on planets the last time she'd been dragged to a planet...
Then again though, the last time she'd been... was a few years back.
She fixed him with a look, somewhere between curious and confused. "How?" How was there life? How was there poison? How was he supposed to fix it?
Lellouch snorted, brushing off the sentiment. "What, did you let go of exactly? You did what you had to do." She didn't blame him for that. Couldn't blame him. The senshi watched as he rubbed his markings and absently ran a hand over the tattoo on her wrist. Kerberos' planet was infected, and his first thought was still her. It had nothing to do with her, yet here they were.
Sighing, she closed the small gap between them, leaning against Kerberos' arm. Was he really doing this again "Home to what?" She didn't have to remind him that Lyonesse and her have actively tried to kill each other in the past. "I don't think me changing sides is going to save your planet."

It was an automatic response. Kerberos scooted closer to her, close enough that he could lean over and rest a head on her shoulder, because she was ever a provider of comfort, even if it was a little bit acerbic. Lellouch came with bite, but Kerberos never wanted anything else from her.
“I’ll have to take you, if I can fix it.” He reached over, and took one of her hands in his, gently winding their fingers together as another little physical connection. “I’d like to show it to you at its best, not while it’s being slowly poisoned to death.” And not while she might get hurt visiting. “I….can’t really answer how any of it’s happening, but…it is.” He knew one answer, at least, but Lyndin had sworn him to secrecy, and so he would keep his mouth shut. tHe other, well…an enigma. Something he could only guess at.
A soft sigh passed his lips. “I’d like you to come home to me. We can’t keep doing this dance, where we’re on opposite sides and pretend there’s no chance of us being made into enemies. Not when the Negaverse would gladly exploit our connection—and I don’t want someone to hurt you to get to me, or worse.”

Lellouch sighed, dropping her head on top of his. "I've seen you in worse states..." She pointed out, watching as he fiddled with their hands. "I doubt your planets condition would phase me much at the moment." It definitely would not be the worst thing they'd been through.
The corner of her lips twitched slightly. "I am home to you." She pointed out. "Why else would you keep looking for me." Though, she supposed, the same could be said about her. "You're the one who changed sides..." Lellouch muttered quietly under her breath before falling silent for a moment. "You know I would not sell you out."

It felt safe, being close to her like this. The list of people who could make him feel that way was short, but she had always been on it, no matter what else went on.
“True,” Kerberos acknowledged, “but I’d like to be able to spend time with you without us having to worry about being interrupted by someone who gets all concerned about an Order Eternal and a Corrupt Super so close together.” He sighed. That wasn’t even the half of the potential problems, really. “And I trust that you wouldn’t sell me out by choice—but I don’t want to see them turn you into a bargaining chip, or something else awful. I don’t want to see some General high on his own power decide that you haven’t been doing enough, and hurt you because of it, to try to force you to be a better soldier for them.”
He exhaled.
“I’d like you to choose me, for real. Let me help you get out, so you never have to worry about that again, and we can be on the same side.”

"Could always just kidnap me to the planet. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened to me." She'd explain that later for him, if he really wanted. Lellouch shifted her position slightly. "We both know Benitoite would sooner run me through. Never did like Senshi, that one." Kerberos was just lucky her original idea had fallen through.
She tugged on her hand, gently pulling it free as she untied the laces around her wrist. "I never worried about it." Lellouch said. "I knew you would be safe, one way or the other." By her hand, or by those around him. Kerberos had people in his corner, even when she couldn't be. Pulling her glove off, she turned it, exposing her wrist to him.
"I chose you a long time ago. Or did you forget?"

Kerberos snorted, at her little kidnapping joke. He could, couldn’t he? Sweep her up there, and show her the planet he loved so much. Perhaps she might understand then.
“Maybe so, but Beni’s not the only one you have to worry about,” he pointed out. But he watched, as she unwrapped her wrist, and then, softly, he gasped.
He knew the flower there.
“Lellouch….” His voice was quiet, almost tremulous, and then—
It was a stupid, stupid urge. But he turned, and gently cupped her cheek, and leaned in to kiss her. He’d thought about it before, certainly, but seeing an asphodel flower inscribed on her wrist, he couldn’t figure out any reason to hesitate.
He held the kiss for a moment, and then pulled back.
“Lellouch. If you’ve already chosen me, what are you waiting for? Take that last step. Please.”

Now it was Lellouch's turn to snort. "I hope you're not referring to Lyonesse. He's already left his mark." As had she on him. "I don't think he's looking for a rematch any time soon."
"Hmm?" Lellouch teased, acting as if he was trying to get her attention. She made a soft noise when he turned and kissed her. "All that, for a little tattoo? My my... What will I do with you." Lellouch teased, softer this time. Then again, Kerberos never really had control when it came to her. A sly smirk crossed her face. "While I'm not complaining, your reaction to my tongue piercing was better..."
All the same Lellouch sighed, leaning back against him. "There's just one problem with that." She said, reaching over to twirl a piece of his hair around her finger.

Kerberos laughed, quietly, and kissed the top of her head. “I can’t do it for you myself. But—is there anything you want to get beforehand? Because if not, I can….there’s a being, by the name of Cosmos, and when she hears a starseed calling for aid, she’ll come. She’s the one that purified me, and Lyonesse and Nile.”
He hoped this would work. Hoped that she would finally be free.

“That is what I meant.” She said with a sigh, frowning as he moved away from her. p***k. She hadn’t told him to stop. “I can not call your dam- I know who Cosmos is!” Lellouch swatted at him with a scowl. “I may be rogue but I’m not *that* far out of the know how, Kerberos. Everyone knows who Cosmos is.” She waved a hand dismissively. “As for the rest of your royals, don’t know, don’t care.”
Lellouch leaned against him again. “No. I have nothing. Iolite didn’t belong to either of us, despite living in the house.” Perhaps she should leave the cat some sort of note… It didn’t matter. Iolite would survive one way or another. “The only other thing I have is on my civilian.” Not that it ever came off… Lellouch sighed as she stood, offering Kerberos a hand.
“Let’s get this over and done with…”
