He was in a different park, in a part of the city that wasn’t quite as bright as the area he met Meridiana in the night before, but still. The stars weren’t nearly as bright as he would have liked. Langite stared up at them, giving a soft, thoughtful sigh that almost sounded wistful. What did he long for? He wasn’t sure but. It must be something. And lately, the idea of the stars has been such an interesting one. One that he wanted to know more about. If there was a way that he could get up there. That he could see them more closely…
It would be…an adventure. Something he had never truly thought of wanting before. He prided himself on being down to Earth, literally. Everything was organized. Everything was planned and easily in its place.
This…yearning to see what else was out there was new and…not unwelcome.
When the feeling of a senshi came into his area, he paused and turned to face whoever it was, blinking in surprise. “Dagon. Greetings.” Langite inclined his head at her, and then let his gaze wander upwards again.

It was a pleasant surprise, to find Langite at the source of the aura Dagon had been tracking. At least she knew that this was someone she could speak to--even if he seemed...a bit....distracted.
"Langite," she said, even if that name still tasted wrong on her tongue. It did not feel to her like a Senshi's name--but who was she to tell him he was wrong?
"I had hoped to have the chance to speak to you again," she said, "but if I am interrupting you, I can go, and we can find another time."

He paused and shook his head, looking back to her. “You’re not interrupting anything, Dagon. I’m simply stargazing, and wishing that we could see things with more clarity. The light pollution in the city is disgraceful. Langite sighed softly, turning to face her, his full attention on the alien senshi. “What would you like to speak about?”
Hopefully it would be something that he could assist with, if not…perhaps he could refer her to someone else. Or they could plan something else when he found whatever answers she was seeking.
“Is it something about the Earth? Or the city?” He fell quiet for a moment and then sighed, eyes drifting upwards again. “What do the stars look like from where you live? Are they beautiful?”

Dagon moved closer, and looked up at the sky with him. A soft sigh passed her lips--it was true, you could see so few of the stars. A tragic thing, because the tableau was beautiful, when it was visible.
"The stars on my homeworld...are quite different," she said. "Hard to see from land, with the fog, but my world was constantly shrouded in night, and so the stars are our lights, especially on the seas. It is an entirely different sky, I think, from the one you are used to--Dagon is quite far outside your solar system--but the stars are the stars."
But that was not why she was here.
"As for why I wanted to speak to you," she said, and she looked over at Langite, expression serious. "An ally of mine encountered a Negaverse Lieutenant who purported that it was her mission to 'clean up' your city by killing its unhoused residents. That struck me as quite at odds with what you told me--that you intend to protect your planet. Does protecting your planet not also include protecting all of its citizens? Especially the most dispossessed among you?"

Langite nodded slowly and hummed softly, but then blinked, looking towards her and frowning. “What was their name? That isn’t how I have understood anything. That goes against the whole purpose of us. We are here to protect this planet. Our home. Our Earth. Are you sure that the ones that…were being killed…weren’t invaders? Weren’t trying to…do something against us?”
He looked truly unhappy with the accusation, and moved closer to Dagon, shaking his head. “It may have been a misunderstanding.” Or the lieutenant might have been just…bloodthirsty. Power hungry. Doing things wrong. If she knew their name, Langite would report them to Lopezite right after this conversation. It was the least that he could do.
“I can understand if they were invaders. I don’t condone senseless killing or death in general, but it is necessary if there is a good reason. But the homeless should be helped. Not killed. That does nothing to solve any problems.”

"I wish I knew," Dagon said. "She did not give her name to my ally." It was hard to describe Raksha as a "friend," though she was an apprentice of sorts. Still, Langite didn't need to know all of that, necessarily. He was still on the other side, and she didn't want to give him information that could be used to harm someone else.
"She wears blue, buns in her hair, and wields a coin as her weapon," Dagon described. Perhaps Langite might know her name--or might have better odds of tracking her down. "She does not seem to keep her activities a secret, or at least she is all too glad to brag of them to us on the other side."
It was good, to hear that he seemed distressed by these allegations. Perhaps Langite at least still had his sense of right and wrong intact, and sincerely believed what he had told her.
"As far as I was told, they were simply people, living the lives they had scraped out for themselves, and those lives were stolen. Two permanently, with no chance at reincarnation and another try."

“I truly…don’t like that. It seems that someone has recruited someone who doesn't have any morals, and honestly that is someone that we don’t need with us. I understand that this is a war. That there are casualties, but.” Langite looked pained and his eyes flickered towards the stars again, sighing.
“Those not involved should not be forced to become involved. Someone who is just trying to live their lives should be able to. Now, again. If there was some violence involved, if they were attempting harm…I could condone that…but someone bragging about murder…” He shook his head. “I will do what I can. See if I can find out who this was, and see that they get a reprimand at the very least, if I can.”
He swallowed, bowing his head slightly. “I apologize that your ally had to deal with such a monster. I apologize that you have had to hear of such things.”

"I will leave that in your hands," Dagon said. "I hope that your superiors will take action. Such behavior is....disgusting. To take a life, solely to mock your enemy...."
Dagon's expression darkened.
"It reminds me of those who invaded my world, a thousand years ago. The ones who murdered my wife and daughter. They liked to do things like that. Kill one as a show, as an effort to intimidate others who might resist." She moved her gaze to hold Langite's eyes, firmly and seriously.
"It did nothing but breed resistance in my people. We were angry. Killing innocents made us angrier. If nothing else, even if there is no morality left in your superiors, I am sure there is practicality left. And they must know that such displays may intimidate some, but they galvanize others."
A slightly bitter smile did work its way across her face.
"I hope that you can convince them to take action, and that this rogue agent might see some penalties."
And if she didn't, perhaps Langite might see that Chaos was not, indeed, about protecting anything.

Langite was quiet for a long moment and after he thought through what he wanted to say, he nodded. “I am sorry that you and they had to suffer so much. I hope that your wife and daughter have found peace, and I hope that they have found a new life. I know you would rather have them with you…but I hope they were reborn and have found every happiness.” He swallowed, looking sad for a moment and then shaking his head.
“I truly can’t imagine what you’re going through. What you’ve gone through. I wish that I could have been there to help save your Dagon. To help save your family. And I will do my best to convince them. I am sure my General will listen. He’s a very good sort. He cares.”
Lopezite did care. About the Earth. About him. About everything. Or at least he seemed as though he did, and sometimes that was good enough.

Dagon's gaze became very far away, and she looked back up at the skies. Her planet likely wasn't visible from here--not with the naked eye--and nor was the world Kalari had come from, initially.
A sigh passed her lips.
"I hope so, too. I hope they have an easier time in this life than in the last. And if I'm very lucky, I might meet them again someday."
A breeze caught her hair, lifting it and blowing it around her.
"Let me know what happens with your General, yes?" She didn't take her eyes off the sky. It tugged at her, that she ought to return home. It had been a while, and with the link opened to Earth, she was sure she would be able to get back.
"I'll see you again, Langite." She flashed him a small smile, and a nod. It was good to know that not eveyone in the Negaverse was a monster, as she'd hoped.
And perhaps, as Viatrix had suggested--that made him a candidate to be saved.
