Hikari was certain at this point something had happened to her eldest sister, she had vanished off the face of the Earth with no word for the past couple of months this wasn't normal and it set a pit in Hikari's gut. The whole family seemed worried but they didn't know something she did, Megumi had disappeared right around the time a massive battle had taken place. One in which multiple people died or were taken by the forces of Chaos. She didn't know if Megumi had powers like her but she had a feeling at least one of her siblings would. So the next time Taiki was at the house she decided it was time she got some answers.
When she saw her older brother the preteen Senshi marched her way to him grabbing him by the arm "Nii-san I need to talk to you." She said pulling him outside the house to a spot where they wouldn't be overheard by other family members.
"Onii-san I want the truth where is Megumi-nee? Was she at the battle?" She spoke plainly.

To say that Taiki had been stressed for the past few months was to--rather understate the situation. At first, he had hoped that Megumi's sudden silence after that battle on the hill was merely a coincidence--that perhaps she'd had a client that required more of her time than usual, or that necessitated her being out of town--but the longer things went with no contact from her, the more dire the whole situation seemed.
At least Hikari had the decency to make sure they were in private before she asked.
"I don't know," he admitted, quietly. "I know she is a Knight. But she made the choice to avoid most magical affairs; she felt like her time was better used elsewhere." His expression was grim. "But I think the timing is telling."
How did he square with the idea that his older sister was likely dead or corrupted? That even if they found her again, she would be lost to them forever in a very critical way?

When Taiki confirmed Hikari's suspicions it was like a shot through her heart. He didn't know for certain she had been taken but the timing was too perfect, there was no other reason Megumi would have dropped contact with the family for this long. So many were lost in that battle, dead or taken by Chaos.
She didn't know which was worse, if she was corrupted there was good chance her eldest sister wouldn't even remember her or the rest of the family, she knew that corruption messed with a person's mind. She didn't even want to consider that Megumi could have died there, what would have happened to her body? They had all been taken to the Moon so they hadn't had time to take count of the dead.
The preteen slide to ground in horror. "I knew it." She mumbled to herself. "Who was she?" Had Tachibana met her? She knew it was next to impossible to recognize someone when they were powered there was some force obscuring them, she hadn't recognized Taiki as Aokigahara and he had not been able to tell she was Tachibana. So it was entirely possible she had met had sister and never even known.

It hurt, having to be the one to deliver this news to his sister. Especially when he wasn't even entirely certain himself that he had guessed correctly, and Megumi had been at the battle.
He knelt down across from Hikari, and bundled her into a hug. She was too young for this--far too young to be struck by loss. Their father hadn't been much of one, but Megumi....
"She was Shiroyama of Mars," he said, softly. Because she deserved to know. Because Megumi's secret might not even exist anymore. "I'll look for her. Ask others to, as well. We'll find her, and we;ll do our best to bring her back."
Even if Megumi would never truly be herself again.

Hikari relished in her brother's embrace, she'd normally push him away but right now she needed the comfort of someone else who shared this horrible secret. "We need to Nii-san" She said pulling back and wiping any tears from her eyes. "We can't let them take her, we need to get her back." She refused to let the Negaverse take her from them and she would find a way to make them pay, she knew of all the horrible things the Negaverse did but this was a particularly personal offense. She need to get stronger and she needed to get more involved. She wasn't sure how she'd find her sister but she didn't care even if it took years she wouldn't give up on Megumi.
She wished she could tell the rest of the family. As painful as it was to know the truth, it was worse to be left in the dark. But how could she tell them how could she even begin to explain the war, or senshi and knights. No this was a secret that would have to stay between the two of them. That was when a thought hit her.
"Is there anyone else?" She had to know, she couldn't be blindsided again, if Taiki knew then she needed him to share. "Please Nii-san if you know?"

Taiki took a deep breath. He had to believe that there was a chance to bring Megumi home--or, at least, that there was something there that could be repaired, when they found her.
Did she remember? Would she?
He exhaled.
"As far as I'm aware," Taiki said, "the rest of our immediate family is perfectly ordinary." Kaito, their mother, Hikari's twin, and Keiichi. That, of course, didn't speak to any number of other people, and it wasn't his place or not to explain Hisaya's situation to her when he was a fully grown adult who had to make that choice by himself, but....he could at least assure her about those closest to them. "And you saw me Transcend--nothing can ever happen to me. So we just have to look out for each other, yeah?"

Hikari nodded she would accept his assurance for now but the preteen wasn't stupid she understood what the qualifier her brother had used in his sentence meant. She had many half siblings, a product of her late father's indiscretions indiscretions she had been too young to understand but now she resented the man for. But she didn't resent her half sibling and she wondered based on Taiki's phrasing just how many of them also bore magic powers. She especially wondered about Hisaya, the half brother Taiki had introduced to the family several months ago and was currently living with. But she didn't know Hisaya very well and she wasn't going to push Taiki if he didn't feel comfortable telling her something. No it was enough that she knew her mother, Hikaru, Kaito, and Keiichi were safe. At least when it came to being corrupted.
"And I'm a chibi so my starseed can't be corrupted either." She promised. "We'll keep each other safe, I'll get stronger so I can help protect you too, Nii-san." She agreed. She had all the more reason to work harder to advance her senshi powers and her fighting abilities. She was filled with renewed resolve.
