Varinia stood and stretched her limbs. She'd been working on some new ideas for clothing but was having trouble getting things right. Her favorite people to make clothes for were her family and now thay the girls were getting older, and bigger, she found it harder to make things she thought they would like. Varinia sighed, deciding she would take a break and seek out her husband. Honestly she wasn't sure if he was even home. She'd been too absorbed in her work. "Reil?" She called out. [Vari 1]

Reil had in fact just come home from the baths and was feeling rather good. "Yes my love?" He poked his head around the doorframe. "Whats wrong?"
She looked kind of put out. He came over to her took her hand and kissed it lightly. "Your wish is my command."
He had worked hard to get a promotion so that he could spoil them all more. They were his everything.

With a sigh, Varinia wrapped her arms around his waist and just held him close for a few moments. "Nothing is actually wrong. I'm more frustrated than anything." Pulling out of his arms she looked up at him before taking hold of his hand once more and gave him a gentle pull. "Hungry? Vari asked as she pulled her husband behind her towards the kitchen.

Reil enfolded her in a hug. This was the ones place in Tendaji that he truly felt at home and safe, within his wife embrace. Each time they hugged it was like the first time, when his heart was racing so fast he thought he would pass out. She was still the one that made his heart beat, her and their two beautiful daughters.
He grinned at her question. "Always. I'm sorry you are frustrated, its not always easy.
'"Maybe going out for a spar or a hunt would help. I know I have raced away from the walls of the city somedays, the fresh air seemed to help." Inevitably in the army there would be disagreements. Not as bad now that he had advanced some.

Varinia felt some of the tension leave her just from having her husband around. Her steps slowed as he made a good point. She changed her route and made her way to the front door. "Maybe you're right. Let's go to the market then and see what all we can find to eat." she liked doing that sometimes, just finding good street food and walking the shops. As they started walking to the market, Varinia decided to get Reil's input on her current issue. "I've been getting so frustrated on my designs for the girls' clothing lately. It seems like I can never get the proportions right or fit what I end up designing to their own style. It was so much easier when they were babies... they couldn't say no when you put them in an outfit they didn't have their own opinions..." Vari sighed. "it's so quiet now that they're bigger and able to walk their own paths..." And honestly she didn't know how she felt about that. Vari looked up at Reil and poked his side. "We're getting old. "

“Is it old? Or wise?” He pondered the issue for a while. “I think if you give the girls a few years to work out their style it might be easier, Variel switches minute by minute.”
“At this age I think they are meant to be difficult.” They were his pride and joy but they had no small amount of stubborness. “Eventually they will settle down a bit, I hope.”
He loved going to the market with her. It was fun to just be people among the crowds. He always felt his stress come down a bit. Of course food helped. “You can dress me up any way you like.” His proportions hadnt changed jn years. He hoped to keep it that way.

Varinia play shoved him with her shoulder with a laugh. Sometimes they didn't feel as old as they were. Sometimes it was like they were just kids again. "You're probably right. " The girls were definitely the age where they were finding themselves which meant there was no end to decision changes and life changes. "What are you going to do when one of them finally brings a boy home?" She raised her brows at him in question before nudging him again. "I suppose I could make you some clothes if you wanted. But men's clothes are definitely not as much fun as little girls clothes. Unless you wanted little girls clothes to fit you then I'd just be in the same predicament hmm?" She teased.

Reil smiled. She made him feel young. “As to the girls coming home with a boy… I suppose i will guage them on a case by case basis and potentially have a quiet heart attack in the corner… then I will sharpen my sword… for hours in front of them and hope for the best.”
“I probably wont look as good in a dress but I’m sure they will come round. Especially when they do bring a boy home.”

Varinia laughed pretty hard at that visual, able to invision it much easier than she probably should. "No dresses then." She confirmed. "I don't want to be chasing the younger generation away from you AND the girls." A faint smell of grilled meat caught her nose and she adjusted their path towards where she thought the source of the smell was. "Mmmmmm. Do you smell that?" Varinia was looking up and down the stalls for the source of the delicious scent.

"That would be rather difficult." That kind of attention was the last thing he wanted. He lifted his head and scented the air, yes there it was succulent meat. "I sure do." Varinia had a wonderfully keen nose. "Smells really good. You always do find the best places." She had great taste. "I don't think its too far away. Should be over there from the direction of the wind."

Almost like some kind of animal, she lifted her nose in the air and sniffed somehow managing to keep ahold of Reil's hand and pulled him through the crowd behind her. Her eyes lit up when she saw the sticks of roasted meat. "Oh that looks amazing. Shall we eat here?" Vari asked him. It looked too good....if he didn't agree she might very well get some anyway and let him get something from a different stall. As long as he shared of course.

Reil smiled. He was always delighted when she put on a show like this. Plus she nearly always found whatever place it was, just like this time. "I think we shall~ My treat love." She had found it and he would pay for them both. She deserved all the spoiling she kept both the royal family and her own in perfect order and that was no easy thing. He was pretty much salivating at this point. "Great job finding this place. I am so glad."
He gave her a few sticks and a large side of rice for them. "You know we should do this more often. I'm sorry I got caught up in training for so long Var,"
"Let me know if you want more food."

Varinia smiled at him as she accepted her portion of the skewers. Wasting no time, she pulled a chunk of meat off and could have melted with how amazing it tasted. "Mhmm." she said as she finished her bite. "We'll definitely have to remember that place!" She pushed their way towards the edge of the market where she knew there was a little seating area so they could finish their food a little easier. There was no way she was going to let any of this yummy food end up on the ground.
It took her a few moments to reply to his small apology. In part because she was enjoying the food but also because it wasn't unwarranted. Life had just gotten busy, for everyone. But they let it into their relationship in a way. They didn't spend the time together like they once had. Reil trained hard to try and advance. Varinia worked so closely with Naevius and taking care of both sets of children that even she hadn't been as present in the relationship as she probably should be. She shook her head slightly before speaking. "It's not that, Reil. I think we both just got caught up in what we had going on. But as you know, I stepped back a little from some of the duties with Naevius. I haven't been watching over Hanaeko like I did with Nicias. I hope to be home more for you and the girls too." Sometimes you didn't realize the stress and pressure on you until you backed up a little.

"I'm glad that Nae is giving you that flexibilty." By working as hard as they had, they had ensured the best financial situation for their children. He had achieved his promotion but he also felt like he had missed a lot with the girls too. "At least we can now enjoy it.
He scooped rice into his mouth and moaned. "Yes this place is perfection."
He was busy munching for a while as he had been quite hungry by the time they had made it to the market. He always found the lights comforting and he could think of no one he would rather spend this night with.
"How long do you think it will be before one or both of our daughters brings a boy home?" He had a feeling he wouldn't like the answer. But that was the price of having two of the most gorgeous daughters out there.

"Mhmm." Vari was thankful for her friendship and employment with Naevius. It let them lead a completely different life than they might have otherwise had.
"Honestly, I have no idea. Teenage girls opinions change so quickly. Only time will tell!" She wasn't the kind of Mom who would be wishing away the time. She could definitely wait for those days!!
