Mi-Hi had found herself uncharacteristically excited about powering up–
Which was something that hadn't happened in - well make it a while.
She was excited however, to the point where she had found herself humming a little as she had packed some snacks for the evening excursion - mainly shrimp crackers and the honey butter chips that she tended to snack on a lot, although she'd also snuck in a few assorted biscuits from the biscuit tin.
She had added in a notepad and a couple of blue biros to her bag too and then added in some cat treats for good measure, in case some of the stray cats that she had taken to feeding happened to be around. Said treats were of the shop bought variety this time around however, so Mi-Hi was very much hoping that the strays wouldn't mind the substitution.
At some point between leaving the house and powering up however, she had found the nerves starting to settle in.
She had gone ahead and powered up anyway, was already Sadalsuud by the time that she reached the small park close to her workplace where she had first met Arnica–
No make that where she had first officially met Arnica.
It had seemed like a good place to meet up however, prior to going into Mirrorspace - and certainly convenient - at least on her end.xxxKyuseisha no Hikari Hope this works as a quick start Kyu - I think that this was supposed to mostly happen in Mirrorspace so hopefully I've also put it in the right place - but as always let me know if anything needs changing

Arnica had thought the same; the park was a comfortable place, easy to reach and full of doors to lead to Mirrorspace. On the off chance that somehow they wound up in different areas while arriving separately, it had made sense to just arrive to Mirrorspace together and avoid the whole ordeal.
He hadn’t come with any visible bags, but by now Arnica was an expert at shoving things into subspace. He arrived after Sadalsuud; there was a mirror nearby and he exited promptly. She must have been early, because he knew he wasn’t late, so he eagerly made his way towards the energy signature.
“I hope you haven’t been waiting for long,” he called. He walked with particularly long steps, just to make crossing the distance between them a little faster. “I was going to try and get here before you, but you beat me to it. You excited?”

It seemed that the stray cats' opinion on her cat treats would have to wait for another evening as none of the usual suspects appeared to have been around–
Then again there didn't appear to be any felines in and about in the small park point stop tonight - usual suspect or otherwise.
It wasn't long before she felt the aura of another dark mirror senshi - the aura that of another super senshi.
Sadalsuud's lips curved up in a bright smile as the aura's source came into view and raised the gloved hand not currently holding on to her satchel strap in a wave.
"Good evening Arnica" she said as he got closer and into speaking distance and shaking her head slightly at his question "No I haven't been here too long." Because it appeared that he hadn't been that far behind her.
"And I'm a little nervous" she admitted, because she had no idea what they would find, if anything "But I'm excited too." Had been excited enough to actually voluntarily power up for the evening.
Once Arnica was ready, Sadalsuud started to walk towards one of the nearby mirrors.
A thought occurred to her "Oh and I bought a few snacks too - nothing that fancy - just some shrimp crackers and some honey butter chips." She remembered the biscuits "Oh and some biscuits of no particular variety that I found too."

Arnica blinked and looked at her, unable to resist the urge to grin. He held out a hand as he reached the mirror, just to make sure that they’d arrive at the same place together.
“Shrimp crackers and honey butter chips sound fancy. It sounds good, I’m excited. I think I’ve got some granola bars and drinks, but you definitely win on most creative snack. I brought a camera, too. I’m not sure if they work in Mirrorspace, but I feel like this place is always changing, so I wanted to see if I could spot any similarities across a few visits. Not that you have to come with me for all of them–you’re invited to, though.”
He paused by the mirror, slid one hand into it. “Gonna be cold for a second, I’m gonna pull us through when you’re ready.”

Sadalsuud laughed "I guess I'm used to them, so I don't see them as particularly fancy" she admitted.
She carefully adjusted the strap of her bag before reaching out with a black gloved hand to take the offered hand "Although of the two I like the honey butter chips best."
Her laughter faded into a smile "But they are really, really good and very moreish."
She thought about it for a moment, before amending it to "Well at least I think they're really good."
Because whilst Sadalsuud was admittedly somewhat addicted to the simultaneously sweet, salty and buttery chips, it didn't mean that others would necessarily like her favourite snack.
She gave a small nod both to let Arnica know that she was ready and in acknowledgement of his comment about the brief coldness that seemed to be part and parcel of walking through mirrors.
It was something that she'd thought of as strange once, although Sadalsuud had somewhat gotten more used to it over the years.

Arnica cracked a grin at her response before he tugged her through the mirror with him. The trip was quick, and the coolness was a bit refreshing. Though it only lasted for a second, he still shivered. When they entered the common room, he made sure that Sadal was in good shape next to him before he released her hand.
“Well, you’ve got me interested in them both, now. I’m looking forward to trying them. Hopefully Mirrorspace won’t give us too much trouble. But I’m looking forward to seeing what we can find. You know, I came in here one time with Remarque and there were some weird carvings on the mirror? We couldn’t make out what they said, but I took pictures. The mirror was smooth on the outside. I touched it. He told me not to, but.”
Obviously Arnica couldn't help himself.
“It was like it was carved from the other side. This whole place is wild.”

Whilst Sadalsuud had become somewhat used to the coldness that for some reason seemed to be part and parcel of walking through mirrors, it didn't stop her from shivering slightly at the sensation–
But as Arnica had promised, the cold have only been for but a moment before the two of them were through and in the common room.
She absently patted down her bag once Arnica released her hand although the action was more subconscious habit than out of any real need "I hope so too" she agreed at his comment about Mirrorspace not giving them too much trouble. "Especially as I don't think I've ever been in Mirrorspace when there hasn't been any trouble before."
And then a thought occurred to her "Oh!" And whilst Sadalsuud couldn't say whether her magic would be useful or not given that she wasn't really sure what it did, she decided to call on it anyway "Clover's Luck" before holding out the medium-sized glowing four-leaved clover that formed out to Arnica to take if he so chose.
"I can't promise that it will do much" she said, because she had already admitted to Arnica that she had no real idea what her magic did "But clovers are supposed to lucky. Well at least the four-leaved ones."
Green eyes glanced at the mirrors lining the walls in curiosity as she listened to Arnica talk about some strange carvings that he had come across when he had come to Mirrorspace with Mr Rem.
"Mr Rem is very kind" she said after he finished speaking "He was there when I awakened into the court." Adding "And that sounds pretty cool" she admitted, "Although now that makes wonder just what carved them" because Sadalsuud really didn't think that it was a mirrorwraith somehow.

When Sadalsuud exclaimed, Arnica tilted his head at her to make sure she was all right. She used her magic and offered it to him, and she did so with such earnesty that he couldn’t help but accept the closer.
“Four leaf clovers are a superstition I prescribe to, fortunately. I’m always in the market for a little extra luck. Thank you.”
Whether it did anything or not, the gesture was obviously appreciated.
“Maybe we’ll have some luck figuring out what did carve them, hm? Come on, let’s go take a peek.” He reached for her hand and gave her a little tug before heading off down one of the connecting corridors leading away from the Common Room.
“Sometimes I’ve found crystal around here, too. Sometimes just neat rocks and weird little things. But fingers crossed for no trouble. What are you hoping to get out of today? Just a little fun?”

Sadalsuud gave Arnica a bright smile as he accepted the clover and pulled out the notepad and one of the biros so that she had them to hand in case something interesting cropped up.
It was a cheap standard soft cover A4 wiro notepad, with the sort of paper that was easily to tear out as needed, but the cover also had the words 'very important notes' with the important in caps and was decorated with cartoon kittens and paw prints.
It was bright and cutesy, but then again she liked cute and they had been cheap enough that she (or rather Mi-Hi) had a whole bunch of similar notepads back at home.
Sadalsuud nodded in agreement as Arnica asked her if she was hoping to just get a little bit of fun out of the trip "Pretty much - at least this time around" she admitted as she followed after Arnica, frowning slightly as she continued "Do you think that it's strange that I can pretty much count any voluntary trips here on one hand and still have fingers left over?"
Green eyes glanced at the sides of the corridor in curiosity, as Sadalsuud did her best to take everything in - or at least as much as she could in.
"I don't know that much at all - but I'd like to learn more."
She listened as Arnica mentioned that he'd found crystal whilst exploring, green eyes openly fascinated.
"I have another crystal that I found here too" she admitted once he finished speaking, because truthfully Sadalsuud was finding it easy to talk to Arnica "Although I pretty much leave it in subspace and I'm not really sure what it's used for if anything." She added "But I think that the nicest thing that I've ever found was my music box."
Sadalsuud gave another thoughtful frown "Although I'm not sure if the music box exactly counts as being found here. It had the prettiest song though."
She'd used the past tense, not the present.

Arnica seemed to be enjoying himself; Sadal was easy to talk to and there was something gentle and easygoing about her that made him visibly relax. “I don’t think it’s strange. If you haven’t had the proper motivation, there’s no reason to go here. I think it’s a sorely overlooked ability we have. I like to think of it like treasure hunting.”
He’d noticed the change in tone but hadn’t thought much about it. He was curious about the whole thing in general.
“Where did you find your music box? Did something happen to it?”

Sadalsuud smiled "I always used to enjoy treasure hunts when I was little" she admitted, before thinking about it for a moment and amending it with a laugh to "Well when I was younger" because she knew that at 4'11" she was pretty short and was used to most people towering over her.
"Although they tended to be of the chocolate variety as Papa always used to hide chocolate eggs at Easter time."
Not many, because it was a treat, but it hadn't made it any less fun or special.
And she found herself thinking of how nice this was - and it wasn't just because Mirrorspace wasn't currently trying to squish them.
Arnica was good company and didn't seem to mind that she wasn't a particularly great senshi or very strong.
Her smile faded slightly when Arnica asked her where she'd found her music box, although it was more because of the memories attached to it than his question.
"I'm not really sure if it counts as being found since Queen Altea gave it to me" she admitted. "She kind of saved us on one of those occasions when Mirrorspace was kind of trying to squish us."
Because despite everything, Queen Altea had saved them.
"She told me that she thought that I must be strong and brave and clever even though I'm not really and I thought that she was really pretty and kind, but I turned out to be wrong about the kind part."
Her smile turned sad as she pulled the small wooden box from subspace decorated with carved flowers that had been painted with paint that had at some point faded and offered it up for Arnica to take a closer a look if he so chose. "The music box is really pretty though and it had the prettiest song - but it got broken at some point and doesn't work anymore."
In fact it hadn't worked since the battle where she and the rest of the court who had been trapped had faced off against Queen Altea.
She sighed as she admitted "I know that maybe I should throw it away, but I can't really bring myself to so I mostly just keep it in subspace."
Mostly, but sometimes she took it out to just look at it too.

For a while, Arnica listened quietly. He had questions but felt no need to interject or interrupt her story. Sadalsuud had a gentle way of speaking, and he found it easy to listen to her and want to hear what she had to say.
The box was pretty and he could understand keeping it for that reason alone, but it had something extra about it. A legacy. Memories, maybe turned sour by time.
“Have you ever thought about getting it fixed?” he asked. He wanted to reach out and touch it, as if to see how real it was. But, he trusted her. And it certainly didn’t look like an illusion.
“Remarque works with antiques, maybe he knows someone? It seems a shame to let something like this just rot in subspace. Especially if it brings you any comfort.”

Sadalsuud nodded her eyes still on the box "I have" she admitted, "But I've not really sure who to ask." A rueful note slipped into her voice as she admitted "Fixing magical boxes isn't really something that I can go and ask about at the repair shop."
Or any shop really.
At best they'd laugh at her and at worst they'd probably think her crazy - because even though Destiny City was weird and there was a tendency for weird things to happen around the holidays. There was weird and there was weird - and magical boxes was something that most likely something that would fall under weird.
Although to be fair Sadalsuud was aware that a lot of people would probably consider that the whole being Sadalsuud thing was something that would fall under weird.
She gave Arnica a curious look when he mentioned that Remarque worked with antiques "I didn't know that" she admitted, because she didn't know much about Mr Rem apart from the fact that he had always been kind to her.
She hesitated "But Mr Rem is probably busy" because he was also a Prince, and her broken box was kind of a small thing - at least in the scheme of things.

Arnica shook his head. “Not too busy for the Court. Not too busy for something magical, either. You should talk to him, I bet he’d be interested in helping you. And if he doesn’t know someone who can fix it, I’m sure he knows a Mauvian or something. They’re supposed to be clever, maybe they could do something? But–yeah, you should check with him first.”
Arnica seemed pretty relaxed about the conversation, but smiled encouragingly. She seemed a bit shy about it, but he was happy to reassure her if she could. “Or if you want, I can ask him if it’s something he might be able to look into. He might be busy, but I don’t think he’s ever too busy for us. I don’t go to him all the time, but he said that if I ever needed anything I could. I’m pretty sure that goes for everyone in the Court, you included. If it’s important to you, he’ll help.”

"I guess it probably wouldn't hurt to ask" Sadalsuud admitted, "I just didn't want to trouble Mr Rem with something that's kind of small."
But in truth Sadalsuud knew that she would love it if the music box could somehow be fixed, because the song had been such a pretty one–
And Arnica seemed pretty sure that Mr Rem wouldn't mind.
Maybe she could bring something along with her - kind of like a thank you in advance.
Maybe.
Sadalsuud visibly brightened when Arnica mentioned that Mr Rem might know a mauvian.
"I like mauvians" she admitted, although that probably wasn't so surprising given that Arnica had seen her in the small park with the stray cats "Miss Kitten is the one who kind of brought me into all of this and is how I met Mr Rem in the first place."
It had been a while since she had last seen the cute star cat, although that could have been down to the fact it had been a while since she had been particularly active as a senshi.
