Ergon 1
The walk home was dark, the moon’s light blocked by sagging gray clouds and thick, falling snow. Despite the chill and the dark, Ergon didn’t hurry any more than usual. The walk home provided him time to clear his head after a long shift at work. He wanted to be able to arrive home without bringing the stress of the job with him. After all, there was enough stress at home. A stress that he had never expected to run into. A stress that grew when nothing happened. It grew more with the passing months.. then years. Of all the things that he had been taught growing up, all of the education and training and warnings, none of it had prepared him for the realization that maybe.. maybe, without outside help, their family would forever be just the two of them..
When he saw the warm lights of home though, he pushed those thoughts away. He wasn’t a ‘positive thinking is power’ kind of guy, but letting the negative thinking run wild would help nothing. The moon might be hidden, but nothing could obstruct the warmth he felt in his heart from coming home. “Riya? Are you home?” Ergon quickly knocked his boots against the doorframe to get rid of the snow built up before stepping inside. It felt so good to get home and close the door against the bitter winter wind! He shrugged out of the heavier outer layers and hung them to let them finish melting off and then dry. All he needed now was a hot drink and a warm hug from his favorite person in the world.

Riya 1
She'd finished teaching her classes hours ago and that left her with time to spare. So She'd decided to focus on cooking. Something they didn't usually get. A goose of all things. It had been caught in one of her traps and she'd taken care of it so that they could enjoy a meal. That meant keeping busy with plucking the feathers, removing the guts, and cleaning the meat. It had taken time and that kept her mind mostly on task.
By the time Ergon got home the smell of a hot meal was thick throughout the house. When he called out she was busy in the kitchen and so she called back to him. "In here, Darling." The sound of dishes being moved could be heard. Since her husband was home she could put the food on their plates and not risk it getting cold. "Did you have a good day?" Riya always asked about Ergon's day because she didn't want him to think she didn't appreciate his hard work.

Ergon 2
As easy as that, any lingering work stress fluttered away. The smell of dinner, the sound of his wife’s voice.. Yeah, there were dark spots, but his life was good. “As if I couldn’t tell. It smells amazing.” He slipped into the kitchen and swooped in to press up behind Riya, his arms slipping around her waist for an affectionate squeeze. She was as slim as ever.. “It was as good as it could be. No ground-shattering deals, but we were plenty busy.” With a little smirk, he nuzzled his chilly nose against the back of Riya’s neck. “How was your day?”

Riya 2
She was in the middle of putting food on the second plate when she felt him press against her. Instantly she smiled and leaned back a bit. "Mm, a busy day is better than a boring one." The feel of his cold nose against her neck brought about a shiver since her skin was warmed due to the heat of the kitchen. "It was good. Lessons went smoothly with no tantrums today. The Yanvers kid was absent today." The name would be familiar because said kid was a trouble maker.

Ergon chuckled lightly. “I’m glad you got a break from that.” He had heard plenty about that Yanvers kid and he could only pray that their own wouldn’t be like that little terror. If they did have any.. His head tilted against the searching fingers, turning to press a kiss to her hand. “Something warm. I think we’ve still got some mead around here, right?” He shifted around so that he could peek at the meal. “I can get it if you’d like some as well, since you made all this. What is it?”

The affection he gave so freely was always cherished since it took him a long time to get there. Riya grinned as it and turned her head to look at him. "Mm. We should have some. Same cupboard as last time." She pointed toward it just in case he forgot.
"It's just goose. Nothing special. And some vegetables to make the flavor stand out." Normally she'd have made something more elaborate but tonight she went with simple.

He pressed another kiss and headed for the cupboard. The mead was poured into two mugs and set over the coals to heat up. “Hmm, it’s been a while since we’ve had that.” A little smirk rose at the sappy thought of how the company was what made the meal special rather than the food itself… It could have been plain sandwiches and he would have been happy as long as Riya was there. Of course, having the food be delicious was helpful. “So, any plans for after dinner this evening?” he asked playfully, slipping his hands around Riya’s waist again.

"Yeah, he was in one of my traps." She smirked. Normally it wasn't her usual prey. She finished plating the food and moved toward the table with both plates. As he came to slip his hands around her waist she set the plates down then leaned so that she could turn her head to look at him. "My evening is clear. What about yours?" She had a small smile on her face.

His own expression warmed once he saw her smiling. “Well, I do have a few ideas to keep us busy for the evening.” Flirtatious words were not exactly his forte, but he enjoyed walking the line on occasion. He chuckled lightly and released her slowly. “Why don’t we eat before your hard work gets cold though?” Ergon took his seat and looked to Riya with a mischievous grin. “Just don’t eat too much~ Ah, it’ll be hard to resist though. It really does smell great.”

"Oh?" She was used to the way her husband attempted to flirt. Riya gave a small laugh to it and pressed a kiss to his cheek before she sat down in front of her own plate. "Mm. I didn't put that much on there. Maybe don't get seconds." She winked at him.
"I uhm.. I did stop and get fertility herbs." Her voice got quiet as said that.

Smirking lightly, he plucked up his utensils to cut into his meal. As tasty as it was now, the leftovers would make for a yummy lunch tomorrow. He’d been saving a fair amount by taking lunch to work rather than stopping at the shop each day. There was plenty to spend that money on. …like those. His eyes rose to inspect the soft voice. After a moment, he tried an encouraging smile and nodded. “How are these ones meant to be taken? Should I get some water ready for tea?”

Her cheeks were covered in a furious blush. Iriyana felt that the reason they didn't have children yet was her fault. It was part of why she always took their niece and nephew a lot. Having children around didn't make her feel so useless.
"I can add them to the mead. Just might not taste the best." But what was a little bad taste if it meant getting a child? Riya still didn't meet Ergon's gaze though. She was afraid to at the moment.

The silence stretched for a moment, the wrinkle between his eyebrows deepening slightly. She was hurting... but what could he say? "I don't mind if you want an extra minute to make sure you enjoy taking them," he assured, tilting his head slightly. "Are you sure there's not something else that would be better to take it with?"

She shook her head a little. "No, its alright. They don't need to taste good to work." Although Riya was really hoping they worked. She took a bite of her food to give herself something to do and to focus on. However, once that was done she chanced a glance up at him. "I'm sorry." What else was she supposed to say? If he were married to someone else then he'd likely have at least three children by now. Possibly more.

"Okay." He paused a moment longer, but took a bite of his meal once Riya started on hers. It may have been a comparatively simple meal, but it was still quite good. Chewing on another bite, his eyes quickly rose with the soft apology that came from across the table. "You..? Riya, it's not as though you're intentionally having difficulties." He reached a hand out and opened to her in offering. "You do not need to apologize."
