His wanderings had brought him all the way into the heart of Tale and he decided that while he was here it would be good to gather herbs that Rangers often needed, he was sure that Thallassa and his little brother were probably low on some of the ones endemic to here just like him and he might be able to trade for some they had gathered on their random long journeys throughout tendaji, idly he wondered when they would all join up for a change. Being a lone ranger forever was great until you got lonley. Then it sucked.
He came to a meadow and was eager to see what rare Tale herbs were out there that he might harvest. He liked working with plants, especially herbs...except licorice. Gah.

With nothing else do to, since she'd finished the last details on her latest commission, Masika was spending time in the meadow. The hybrid hummed as she bent down to pick a flower. She knew the petals of that flower could be used for tea and she happened to like the flavor it gave. A small smile stayed in place as she thought about making tea for Shui(Skeena). The little girl she'd taken in wasn't quite so little anymore and they still hadn't found her real family but she enjoyed taking care of her. Her orange eyes went to the small basket that hung off her left arm. "How much should I get for tea?"

He got a good look at the clearing and had no idea how he had missed the woman in it. Perhaps because she seemed a part of the nature to fit right in, she seemed to be holding one of the herbs he had been potentially looking for in her hand. Good for her, she had this meadow first..though if she was looking for herbs too they might be able to trade and save themselves some gathering..he sighed. He should go talk to her as tempting as it was to melt back into the woods as if he had never been there.
He started to whistle a tune slowly getting louder until it was noticable before walking past where she could see him. Maybe he should just keep walking...but herbs. Sigh.
He looked across the glade paused and approached her. "Hey there, I uh have some herbs to trade if you want, some stuff from Matori and Oba mostly. If not I won't take anymore of your time." He had places to be, ale to drink...eventually when he made camp, and herbs to find.

The sound of someone whistling had gotten her attention, her antenna giving a small twitch. Masika lifted her head and looked around before she spotted the man. Of course by that time he apparently had decided to approach her. At first the hybrid had on a look like an aldabuk that had been cornered by a predator. But when the man spoke and seemed to just want to trade herbs she relaxed a little and smiled at him.
"I only have a little to trade with." Masika had originally thought about tea but if she got Matori spices and cooked with those then Shui(Skeena) would surely enjoy it.
To show the small bit she had she held up her little basket.

Raolvar 3 "Its okay, I don't have any of what you do have and I have a variety of stuff from back home, besides there is something fun about the trading itself that I have come to enjoy." It was nice day and he was more than happy to have someone to talk to. He spent a lot of time in the bush by himself honing his craft but that was getting old. He would always enjoy it he just wasn't sure if that is what he wanted to do all the time. Tale herbs were high in demand. They were quite popular.

"Then sure. I was just going to use it to make tea." If he had a better use for it then he could have it. Masika wasn't that picky really. "You said from home... do you live in Matori or Oba?" It would be a lie to say she didn't miss Oba. The desert air was something she'd gotten used to. She was doing the weird traveling thing. Her little version of an adventure. In truth she was trying to find Shui(Skeena)'s family still. While the little girl wasn't so little anymore she didn't want to just give up. Of course she was attached to the girl now. She was family.
"I used to live in Oba. Sulburi actually." The hybrid offered him a sweet smile.

"Thank you," He smiled at her. "I was from a band of nomads in Zena originally but my tribe got scattered on a dark and bloody night and I have yet to find them."
"Currently I travel in and out of Matori, I suppose you could say Matori is home for me but I do tend to wander...alot."
"Oba is nice too." Kinda hot, but it had other charms.
He opened his satchel and offered her a selection of herbs and spices.
"I'm hoping to find at least someone else from my family that survived. But as time goes on I begin to feel maybe I am the last.' He rubbed the back of his head. "Sorry I didn't mean to get so serious."

While the topic of conversation was dark she didn't seem to judge. Of course mention of blood made her pale a little. Masika never handled blood that well. "I'm so sorry." Her hand went to her chest and she looked away from him to spare him any look of pity.
"My family is scattered too but not for the same reason." She offered.
When he opened his bag she chanced a look in and smiled again. He had a nice selection, or what she thought was nice. She wasn't a barterer.

"Take what you think it is worth, I have loads of the same spices at home."
"What er..what happened to your family if you don't mind me asking?" He didn't mean to pry but if she needed someone to talk to well he was there and in no real hurry.
It had just been a long time since he had talked to anyone really and being alone in the bush wasn't exactly the best way to work and maintain one's conversation skills, but he remembered how to listen just fine.

She shyly tucked her hair behind one pointed ear and ducked her head a little. "Uhm.. my father and my twin kinda disappeared one day when I was younger. He took my sister with him one day while training and they just... never came back." It was upsetting but Masika had long since gotten past the point of tearing up. Instead she just had a sad expression on her face. "My mother tried to find them so she wasn't home much."
As she spoke she leaned closer to the bag to look at everything inside. A hesitant glance up at him was given before she reached in to grab a few of the herbs she was familiar with. "I got another sister and a brother out of my mother's travels, so it's not too bad. But my little sister lives in Matori as a healer and my brother is in Zena visiting his biological family." One small shoulder came up in a shrug.

So he had more in common with this woman than he had previously thought. "Thank you for sharing that with me." It hadn't been an easy childhood for her either. "I find that some people don't quite understand. Anyway, I don't mean to bring the mood down so. Usually I have a hard time opening up to people but maybe its all the wildflowers making the world seem ethereal." Or it was the lady standing before him. It took a special soul to enjoy herb gathering. For him it felt as natural as breathing to give and take with the earth.
He dug out a freshwater shell on a necklace. "I er, this was my Mother's and well, I can't wear it." It was definitely fine jewelry. Elegant it looked like vines embedded with green stones. "As you can see its a bit well feminine. I can't bring myself to sell it. But something tells me you might give it a good home. Or know of someone who would."
"I have many other mementoes of hers." He had a quilt that he packed with him everywhere. a small comb and some less lady ish jewellry.
"It would make me happy to think that someone out there was wearing it. More use than I would ever give it, and its too pretty to be kept hidden away."

With the herbs in her hand she leaned back and seemed busy inspecting them, mostly looking for the flavor bits. When the male pulled out the necklace she blinked at it then moved her eyes from the pretty object to his face. To say she looked shocked was an understatement. There was also a very bright flush creeping across her cheeks and reaching the tips of her ears. "O-oh.. uhm.." It was beautiful to look at though. "Are you sure?" She questioned. While the necklace was beautiful she wasn't sure if he really wanted to give it away. "Its so beautiful and if you want it back some day..." She trailed off a bit. Her eyes dropped back to the necklace to admire it before she looked back at the male.

Rao 7 "I am sure. My mother would rather see it worn, I'd feel better knowing it was safe, I travel a lot and have come across bandits more than once on those travels. It makes me nervous, because Id rather the necklace go somewhere good. Not in a thieves pocket." Besides it suited the delicate lady in front of him. In his heart he felt like he was doing the right thing. "Its a piece meant for a lady. I would look a bit foolish in it."

Masika had been lucky enough to not come across bandits. Then again since she'd gotten past the Oban border she'd more or less had a guard with her. Eurig had traveled with her and Shui(Skeena) for a time. Mostly due to Masika's bad directional skills and Shui being too young to help her read a map. Now they were staying in a small town for a bit to rest and get resources before they continued on. So she offered him a smile before she held her hand out for the necklace. "Alright. I'll keep it safe then." The hybrid wasn't sure she'd wear it but she could definitely put it in the hidden pocket of her shirt for safe keeping. "If you ever want it back or want to see it then just find me." She wasn't that hard to find really. There weren't too many of her mix about but even if she managed to find a village of them she stood out in a crowd.

Rao 8 He nodded happy that at least the necklace was in the hands of someone who could wear it. Bandits were real and one day he might not be crafty enough to avoid them and loosing his Mother's necklace to thieves would have been a travesty. "Im glad we ran into each other, it has certainly made my morning more enjoyable. Nice to be able to chat with someone who isn't my radaku familiar. He is not quite as talkative back." Rao looked around. "There are quite a few herbs here that I don't have, you wouldn't mind if I harvested a bit would you?"
