It was time for her and her daughter to leave Kiros and begin the trip to the ships. It would be a few weeks of travel across the swamps, so she prepared enough tools and resources so they could hunt for the rest of her food. She had said her goodbyes to most of her friends and family members, but wanted to make sure she spoke with her mother Zandala. Their relationship was still a bit strained, but it seemed like things were on the right track with all of the grandchildren running around.
So, Zayana approached her mother's home to see if she could find Zandala for one last conversation before her long journey with her daughter.

So many things had changed in a few years since they’d left Yael. Zandala had a hard time believing she was a grandparent. It was wild to think of their family tree, how she’d gone from one individual with a parent to a partner and then children, and then her children have their own children. It was nice though, this lull of peace that had settled on the world. Zandala didn’t know where she fit in it all, she sometimes felt lost. Especially when she awoke from her night terrors thinking her family was in danger. Those had dulled over the years too, but they always loomed nearby.
Zandala spotted Zayana before the other did.
“Zayana!” She called, stopping her work on her bow. “What brings you home? All is well?”

"Mama" She said with a bright smile, coming in to hug her tall mother. She was so grateful that both her mother and sister had joined them, even if it was strained and awkward. But at the end of the day, they were a family, and that showed with how they found each other once again.
"All is well. I just wanted to make sure I spent time with you before my trip. Looks like we're finally ready to head out, if you can believe it or not. Feels like Nayyara has been begging me to take her to the trees for years..."

Ah yes, she had heard of the trip, she had disapproved greatly even if she had kept the words to herself. She still worried about what might happen to her daughter and their daughters outside of their little encampment. Zanadala could never forgive herself if something happened to them, but Zayana was much older now and she was the mother. Zanadala had told herself she would not intervene.
"Ah yes," she finally said. "When do you leave?" And if something did happen and she got word of it, Zanadala would be the first to get on a boat. There would be blood if anything happened to her family even if there was currently peace.

Zayana smiled brightly at the question, "In a few days. Just wrapping things up." She said with a chirp, "You sure you don't want to join us?"
Her question was half serious, but still she raised her rounded brow at her mother with curiosity. She knew Lumikani's answer by heart now, and her sister's family was too young to travel, but she didn't want to just assume Zandala's response.

Zandala chuckled. "Perhaps if your sister and her family would come along, but until their little ones are of age I think it would be wise for me to stay behind and help them." Not that she thought they couldn't handle themselves but you just never know.
"You will reach if there's anything right?" Zandala starred Zayanna down. "Anything at all you, send us word and I'll be there as soon as I can." She was being extremely serious.
"And where do you plan do go first?" Zandala was xurious to know which tree she'd show her daughter first.

The woman thought over the offer and the laugh her mother gave, before shaking her head slowly, "I don't think so. She seems keen to stick around. I wonder if they are planning on asking for more blooms..."
She always wondered if she should ask as well, but felt that maybe it was better to wait. See if she could find a partner.
Then her thoughts were broken by her mother's worrying. She sighed a moment but nodded, "Of course, you know I wouldn't wait until I was back to let you know." She said with a smile, "But I'm sure we'll be fine. We're heading to Zinris first...then Chibale...and if we can Chiume."

"Perhaps, I'd always love new little ones." From either daughter really. Zandala winked at Zayanna.
"I hope they will allow you in Chiume, it would be good for all of the Alkidikes to visit all of the trees at least once in their lifetime. Perhaps Zandala would do the same... Some day, when she was sure everyone was squared away properly and safely.
"Will you visit back here between trips?" She was sure she knew the answer to that, it would be a waste of time to come back here unless really needed.

She just laughed and shook her head, "Oh no, one is enough for me right now. Go be a granny to Kanika."
Then she sobered up as she thought about it, "I do too...I feel like Zinris might be the hardest...but who knows about Chibale. I know they are a bit hesitant for most Elaria. I don't want to be the reason Nayyara doesn't get to see Aisha..."
And she wanted to see Aisha too. The tree that bloomed her parents.
"Oh no...I don't think it makes sense, we're going to just do a loop through Tendaji....it's been awhile since my single trip...and we didn't go through the desert."

Zandala's laughter boomed through the forest around them.
"Right now huh?" The Alkidike grinned from ear to ear. So there was perhaps another little one, or two in her future!
"Yes well, we're supposed to be in peaceful times." She waved her hand in the air slightly annoyed. "So they technically should allow you." Or she knew who wpuld allow her.
"You should see if your grandmothers are still alive," Zandala murmured. "See if Soyila and Zandaiya will let you see Aisha. I am sure your grandmothers would love to meet their grandchild and great grandchild."

She shrugged in response, not too bothered by the notion. She didn't mind the thought of kids, but as she said, not right now. Instead she focused on the next words, and nodded in reassurance. She would count on that, and figure it out of they were turned away.
At the mention of her grandparents, Zayana got a little sad. Women she had never met, never knew if she would. And the fact Zandala had said 'see if they are still alive' was a bit too sad of a thought.
"I'm sure they would too...and if not...I'm sure I've got an aunt or two there I should meet."

"Perhaps on Lumi's side, nit siblings for me." How strange would it be for Zayanna to see her grandchild after Zandala had left when she was barely old enough to travel on her own. Certainly would be weird.
"If you do see them, let me know." Perhaps she wpuld visit her old home again... no promises though. It certainly would feel weird.
"I wonder if Lumi would return with me to see Aisha..." She'd have to ask her later tonight. "Will you visit us again with Nayyara before you leave so we can say goodbye? We could always go to you if need be."

"I don't know if they'd even realize who I was." She replied with a shrug, before catching on to the question about Lumikani. She really wondered if her mother would ever make that trip...maybe if she saw anyone from her family it might persuade her more remorseful parent.
"I'll make sure Nayyara comes by. I'm sure she'll have questions about Tendaji. She's very excited. Especially about seeing Aisha."

"They probably wouldn't, but you never know." Zandala amended, but she knew it would make them happy. It would probably give Zayanna a leg up to see Aisha if she had a grandmother alive. But she wouldn't force her, she didn't know herself how her mothers had ended up after she had left. Perhaps the years had been good to them.
"Good good. I haven't seen Aisha since I was a teen, but I'd still like to say goodbye before you all leave even if it is an interrogation." Zan was still anxious though, or maybe she was getting old. Who knew.
"Well thank you for passing by, you know I love seeing you guys. Especially before you go on a long trip."

"I'm sorry I don't see you more...I think when I'm done with this trip I'm going to spend a lot of time at home." She knew the month long traveling would be exhausting, especially if she was gawked at by every Earthling they passed by.
"So...anything I need to know about Tendaji before I leave? Places to avoid, things you think I need to see?
