Quote: Prompt 11 (Marshmallow Snow): Fresh-fallen snow coats Destiny City. It’s pristine and crisp, and it crunches as you walk through it. It may be a few inches deep, but it doesn’t seem to go above your calves when walking. At first, it’s easy enough to walk through, but gradually you realize that it’s getting harder to move. Every step you take feels like the snow is pulling you back in, and if you get a good look you might realize that sticky white fluff is clinging to you. The more you walk, the more it pulls, until you’re almost completely stuck. Something about the snow smells oddly sweet, and the tacky, marshmallow-like snow seems like it’s suddenly become a prison. The more you try to break free, the stickier it gets, and you’d better hope you don’t fall down. The more you struggle the harder it is to escape, but if you manage to stay still for a few minutes, the marshmallow will freeze and crystallize. When you move again, the snow will turn into a powdery dust and you can break free easily. The only good thing about this is that you won’t starve if you get trapped–the snow tastes just like marshmallows. Bernard had made a mistake. He thought he could handle going outside tonight. He THOUGHT it was just going to be an ordinary night of seeing the fresh sparkling snow outside! Unfortunately while he had wanted to stick to the sidewalks, some of the stray strands of fur on his tail had touched the "snow". Bernard quickly learned that this was not "snow" and instead something else entirely that was filling up his nostrils with a horrible smell. If anyone was to walk outside and see him right now, they would see a poor kitty halfway stuck in the sticky stuff attempting to pull himself out of it! Was there no way for him to remove himself from this horrible snow?!

It felt a little bit easier to go out as Onnie if it was a nice, clear night, with sparkling snow all around; it wasn't as if she'd, like, actually be any more protected from getting attacked than she would be on a normal night just because it was prettier than usual, but Onnie found it comforting anyway. If she didn't look too directly at how stupid any given coping mechanism was, then it was totally fine!! Kind of!! Okay, earlier today she'd fallen on her a** in a snowdrift and started crying, but there'd been snowbunnies, so it was kinda a win. Maybe. Sort of. Win-ish. None of them had bitten her, so that was an A+ overall, even if she had gotten a little bruised and managed to soak herself to the bone by sheer virtue of snow and cold little rabbit-things. At least they'd been cute? They'd been cute and snuggled up all around her until she wasn't warm anymore, which had been pretty adorable, even if it was probably some kind of murder technique for removing her warmth and freezing her to death. Anything was possible when it came to magic, probably. Feeling for auras always felt like the stupidest thing possible, like Onnie was pretending she had psychic powers of the Nth degree; but she'd never been good at it and she'd only gotten worse over her time away, it didn't come naturally and it never had, so feeling something barely a block away was enough of a triumph! The thing was - most of that triumph sort of bled away when she realized it was a cat (okay, an absurdly fluffy cat) trapped in the snow, somehow, like it was some kind of spiderwebby sticky goop and not snow. "Are you, uhhh, okay," Onnie said, and felt like an idiot for it. So there were a few options here: first off, this was a normal ******** cat, and she was being a moron and had confused herself into feeling an aura that wasn't even there - or it was an aura that had been there and had left in the time between that first reach-out feeling and now. So Onnie scrunched up her nose and tried to focus, brows furrowed: okay, no, that was definitely the cat she was looking at. Probably not a normal cat. Probably a Guardian Cat. Thankfully not Etoile, whose tiny little kitty body would've gotten absolutely devoured by the snow. (...now she wanted to put Etoile in little snow booties. That'd be so cute. She'd have to propose it to Alise later.) Not a normal cat. Was it a guardian cat? From this angle she couldn't see a forehead star, but she also didn't see anyone else around who she needed to be wary of revealing its secret to, so Onnie moved a couple of feet: yep, that was a forehead star, so unless this was some kitty with the least likely marking in the world it was definitely a Mauvian.

Benard froze for a moment and attempted to look at the one who had spoken to him. He could see that she was a Senshi, one that he had never met. She was asking if he was okay. He took a few seconds to not immediately answer her. This had to be thought out. If she was asking then she had to be suspecting that he was a Guardian Cat so the question was not a silly one. Second, while he may have seemed obviously in distress, if one didn't look closely enough then it seemed as though he had just gotten covered in some snow. The question was valid and he had no reason to be annoyed. He let out a sigh. "Unfortunately Miss I am not. For some reason this snow is... quite sticky and my tail got a bit stuck and while trying to get it out I got some more of myself stuck in it. Is there any way you could possibly help me out of this?" He asked, hoping that she might have an answer. He didn't want to be stuck in this marshmallow snow forever! And he didn't want to wander around half-covered in it either!

Onnie stopped for a moment before she nodded furiously, pigtails flopping up and down, and dropped to her knees so she could get a better perspective on the whole thing. "I got it!!" She reached over to dig at the snow his tail was trapped in, brow furrowed, focused as anything -- and then after a little bit she stopped. "Uh." She sounded embarrassed. Mostly because she was. "Um. I think my hands? Are stuck?"

Perhaps she should have reached for a part of him that wasn't covered in whatever this not-snow was, though he doubted there were any spots of him left that she could have grabbed like that. He let out a sigh of disappointment. "It seems you are in the same predicament I am in then. I guess I can't feel too bad that I was caught in it first as it appears to effect more than just cats but I am sorry for getting you stuck as well." He thought about what to do. He didn't believe water would work. And they certainly couldn't go anywhere at this rate. "Do you uh... have any ideas perhaps?"

"Maybe it's like glue??" Onnie must've known she sounded absolutely idiotic, because she hurried onto her next point: "Like, you know how glue can get peeled off once it's hard, right, but while it's still liquid it just gets everywhere? Maybe if we don't keep trying to get all wiggly it'll get... peel-off-able." She wanted to gesture, there, but it was unfortunately stopped by the fact her hands were practically stuck in place -- not a position very conductive to gesturing. "Seriously, though, um. It's not your fault?? You didn't know what it was either, and it's probably not deadly, or I'd be hearing way more stories of people getting their hands burned off by snow or something."

Bernard thought about it for a moment. "You might be right. Perhaps we just need to stay still and it will let us out." Which he didn't much like. How long would they have to wait? Would it peel like more solidified glue? He did not want to try and pick that out of his fur. He would have nodded if he could. "I thank you. I just wish I hadn't found this in the first place and who knows if it is just this spot or if this scattered throughout Destiny City." And a great way for the Negaverse to take them if they were found. But something told him that the Negaverse didn't have the ability to do such a thing. "Let's wait a few moments and then we might be let go. And we can leave this place and wait until this... snow melts to come here again."

"Stupid Destiny City," Clementine mumbled; and, then, "stupid winter," and she would've kicked snow all around her if she hadn't been stuck on her knees. "It's the worst season!! Spring's nice 'cause you've got rain and flowers and stuff, even if it's full of pollen allergies, and summer's hot but it's got beaches, and autumn's..." She paused for a moment. How did you describe autumn? "...autumn's fine. It's boring. Halloween and Thanksgiving are there, and those are pretty cool. Winter sucks, though, it's cold and wet and stupid magic stuff always happens during it here!!"

Bernard chuckled. He couldn't help but agree with her. "Yes, once it's cold then it's sometimes even too hard to go out to even enjoy the weather no matter how one is dressed for it." Luckily he didn't have any allergies to flowers so he was lucky enough to be able to roll in the flower fields during the spring. Suddenly he felt the "snow" on the side that he was stuck on start to falling and it was though he had suddenly been booted out as all of the energy and the position he had found himself stuck in had caused him to roll out of the way when it finally let him go. Landing on his back was not something he had wanted to do. "Well, it seems that I am finally no longer stuck. Though I do have a different problem..." He muttered the last part out as he attempted to roll himself over by gaining momentum from moving side to side. "See if you can move now as well!"

Onnie laughed, nervously, and tried to keep herself from talking. Ohhh, god, she was so embarrassed and a little afraid, it was creeping up on her now; she would've been a sitting duck if anyone had come along and chosen violence in her direction, just like this cat, and she would've been able to do nothing. It was - bringing back thoughts she didn't like to dwell on. Even so, she stayed as put as she could, not even wiggling a tiny bit!! Super disciplined of her! Totally! Definitely! At his signal, she pulled back hard enough to send her toppling over, knees and hands detaching from the once-sticky snow, sliding more than a few inches across the icy ground with a whine of upset complaint that sounded more than a little like wehhhhh. Which it wasn't, because that would be totally embarrassing, and she was freshly eighteen years old, which was way too old to whine that way. "Ifyou'regood," she said, all in one rushed breath, "I'm!! Uh!! Gonna get going!!" Her face was so red, she could feel it, like a furnace keeping her warm. SSBrosB fin either on yours, on this, or on the next post? wanna get this done by end of jan so i can crown token it

He nodded to her. The young lady seemed a bit embarrassed and he had to admit he felt the same. And a bit of anger. How dare there be fake snow that grabbed it's prisoners and invaded their nostrils?! He wanted to bite or scratch it but knew that he would just get his paws stuck again. "Yes, we should both get going. And away from all of this... stuff." He said, disdain dripping in his voice as he looked towards it. "I'll make sure to warn anyone who may find themselves here as well." He said, before he turned in the direction towards his home. Being stuck had made him hungry and he did not want to waste more time. Daekie Fin for me! Thank you for the rp!

"Seeyousomeothertime!!" Onnie called, waving a little frantically, and then buried her face in her hands as soon as the cat was gone. Godddddd. God. She was embarrassing herself at previously unknown rates today. Forget all those potential plans of being a Good Senshi and Going On Patrol -- she was going to power down, go home, and then eat gummy worms in front of the TV with a heater blasting on high, and maybe that'd make her feel less like a total idiot. It was super easy to just turn on her heel and get going, then, letting her fuku shimmer into petal-shaped light and away when no one was looking. Onnie Time was over for the day. Clementine Time (ClemenTime??) was now.
