Quote:
Prompt 11 (Marshmallow Snow): Fresh-fallen snow coats Destiny City. It’s pristine and crisp, and it crunches as you walk through it. It may be a few inches deep, but it doesn’t seem to go above your calves when walking. At first, it’s easy enough to walk through, but gradually you realize that it’s getting harder to move. Every step you take feels like the snow is pulling you back in, and if you get a good look you might realize that sticky white fluff is clinging to you. The more you walk, the more it pulls, until you’re almost completely stuck. Something about the snow smells oddly sweet, and the tacky, marshmallow-like snow seems like it’s suddenly become a prison. The more you try to break free, the stickier it gets, and you’d better hope you don’t fall down. The more you struggle the harder it is to escape, but if you manage to stay still for a few minutes, the marshmallow will freeze and crystallize. When you move again, the snow will turn into a powdery dust and you can break free easily. The only good thing about this is that you won’t starve if you get trapped–the snow tastes just like marshmallows.

Starlight was stuck. In the snow. In the tacky, sticky, goopy snow. It wasn’t slush, it wasn’t firm, it was gum-like, so much so that it looked very much like marshmallow, but he hadn’t heard of any freak marshmallow accidents.

He’d first gotten stuck when he was cutting home from a quick trip to the store, and when he got stuck there he’d powered up to try and get a little extra strength.

That hadn’t worked, and now he was getting frantic.

If a Squire couldn't get free, what use was more power? And he was a Polaris Squire, too! This cold shouldn't feel so cold!

He felt trapped, and he was anxiously wiggling back and forth, and jumping in place, and trying to kick the snow. Something was watching him from the forest, he just knew it, but there wasn’t anything he could do.

He didn’t like what he couldn’t see, and he just wanted to get out of here.

“Come on,” he muttered to himself, and the desperation and panic was very much sinking in. He didn’t want to have to call Whisler for help, but at this rate–

He glanced over his shoulder once more and was certain that he saw something moving, so he tried again to pull himself free. Was this glue? What was this!?

Dria really shouldn't have out this late, but she had been out searching for places to live - which were scarce on the day after Christmas. Why was she going through the woods though? It was one of those things, she did and didn't understand why. She'd probably end rescuing a Civilian or fighting a Battle with a nega. She sighed.

At that moment, she hear the signs of struggling. She siliently hid behind a tree and looked towards the struggling, where she saw what could only be an Order Knight or at least of one of the Knight she thought, stuck waist deep in the snow and struggling to get out. She frowned. The slight scent that drifted over to her... She'd been where were he was stuck in Marshmellow Snow... She heard a branch crack - and it wasn't her.

Her instincts - her civilian instinicts told her something was here watching them.. Something not entirely of this world. There was only one choice. She had to save him, He after all was an Order Member, fighting for hopefully the samething she was Holding out her Henshin Pen, she yelled out her transformation call and transformed.

As Super Sailor Pasithee, she ran up to the Squire as much as she dared, definitely sensing the youma presence in the woods around them, in this form. Standing 5 feet from him she called to him in a frantic tone, "I am Super Sailor Pasithee of the Blue Lotus. I am going to try to help. But you must to me carefully. The snow you're in? I've been stuck in it before - it's been changed by the annual Holiday Magic in Destiny City that is warped by our (the Powered Beings') very own magic." She looked frantically this way and that as she called to him. "It has been turned into, and this is going to sound crazy, but it's been turned in Marshmellow snow. The only way to free yourself that I know of is eating it." She was still frantic.

"I would help, but I'm sensing youma activity in this area, and can't leave you unprotected - " A rather large porcupine type youma launched itself out of the woods at her at that very moment, cutting her off and the two of them struggled for a moment.

What?” Starlight blurted, because–what? She sounded like she might have been drinking or daydreaming before she showed up, but he was glad that she had if only because he wasn’t a sitting duck for the youma when it decided to show itself.

The youma waddled towards them, and the quills on its back seemed to be releasing a toxic fume. Even though it was still a good distance away, Starlight was still smart enough to be nervous about it. There was no way he was going to eat any of this, no way that he could eat this much snow.

Stuck in the snow next to him were a few rocks, and it was a fight just to get them out of the snow. When he did, he twisted as best he could and hurled the rocks at the youma.

“I’m sorry, Pasithee. I didn’t mean to get you involved.” He was glad she was there, though; if she hadn’t shown up, this could have gotten much nastier.

The rocks knocked the porcupine youma back and it growled, it's fumes getting worse. Pasithee fanned her nose. She kicked it back.

Pasithee nodded in answer to what the Squire had to say, and replied, "No need to apologize. I was already involved - this after all is our duty, right? Now eat!"

She turned her attention back to the youma, who was now very angry and making its way back towards her. It was now pulling out its own quills and throwing them at her. They would embed themselves in the ground like enormous incense rods and emit a vapor that, no they did not make you feel calm and relaxed or clean the air. Instead, they made one feel sick and noxious.

Pasithee coughed a bit and her stomach rebelled. Then she said, "Two can play at that game!"

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Poison of the Blue Lotus
Pasithee brings her hand out in front of her, and a Blue Lotus appears in her hand. She raises her hand to the sky and the wind blows out enough of the Blue Lotus essence to make the enemy a little sick or delusional. 25 seconds. 2 uses. Range of 1 Powered person, or 2 civilians.

Starlight still couldn’t bring himself to eat the snow. At this rate, it was just going to get stuck to his mouth, too! He was desperate, and just pushed and pulled harder. The snow turned strangely dusty, like the composition was somehow papery and ashen.

He didn’t know what it meant, but it was different, so he kept at it.

Pasithee seemed to be having more luck with the youma; it looked like it was getting dizzy. It stumbled, wobbling off course. It coughed, a sickly little noise, but the quills on its back began to glow, and glow, and glow and then, between one cough and the next, it exploded.

Quills shot out in every direction, and while the youma seemed to have exploded into dust, not all of its quills did so at first.

Which was how Starlight wound up with a quill in his arm. He yelped in pain and tried to grab at it, but thankfully it faded to dust before he had to worry about yanking it out.

But it still hurt, and he was left clutching his arm and standing in snow that seemed to be rapidly turning to dust, too.

Pasithee exhaled slowly, as she strode over to help him out. "Hmm, I guess there's more than one way to get out of Marshmallow Snow. By the way I never got your name, Squire?" She brushed herself off. "While in Civilian Form the other night, my family and got stuck in that stuck. We fought it for like twenty minutes, trying to get a show, and finally, uh," here she paused, she wasn't she wanted to give civilian family details to a Squire she had just met and didn't even know the name of yet. "One of us took a bite and found it was Marshmallow. So, we ended chowing down." She blushed, smiled and held the top of head. "Of course, none of us felt well after due to too many sweets - but....you know.." She trailed off.

Starlight nodded and kept wiggling until he freed one foot, and nearly toppled out. The momentum yanked free his other foot, and he caught himself just before he fell into the ground. It was difficult to act like the quill that just pierced him hadn’t been enough to nearly bring him to tears, so he held onto his arm tightly as if that would ease the pain.

“Starlight, Page–um, no, sorry, Squire of Polaris. It’s still new. I’m glad you were okay after that. I’m not a big fan of marshmallows, it sort of makes me sick. Sorry I didn’t take your advice, I just. Really didn’t want to throw up on myself and then be stuck in it.”

Ugh, he wanted to sit down, he felt so tired from all of that kicking and wriggling. He probably needed to get home and make sure his arm was okay, but he really wasn’t looking forward to explaining that to Arias or Nick…

Pasithee nodded when he said his name. She'd have to tell Etamin this new World source of Knights for his paper, she didn't think he knew of it, she certainly didn't.

Pasithee smiled. "It's fine, I'm just glad you found a way out. And I'm happy we worked so well together." She pursed her lips. "I'd ask for your number to put in my Senshi Phone so we could join up again sometime, but if I'm not mistaken, those of the Knight Track, send paper messages with something called a 'Signet Ring'. I'm not sure how that would work with a Senshi Phone?" She ended it as a question, even though it was more of a statement.

She then caught sight of the way Starlight was holding his arm and frowned, "Is your arm all right? It looks injured?"

Starlight flushed a bit and looked like he was about to just squirm out of his skin. He stayed still and just rubbed at his arm a bit uncomfortably. “It hurts, but I’m just going to head home and get it taken care of. It’s okay, I’ve got everything I need. And people who can help. Um. I don’t have a Signet Ring.”

He’d heard of them, he just…

Hadn’t been to his Wonder yet.

“I–can I give you my real phone number for now. If you want. If that’s not weird.”

Pasithee thought about this for a moment. "I don't want to compromise your identity. Even to me. You don't me well yet and I don't know you well yet." She bit her lip. "Perhaps we could, but only, under a code name, or password for now, how is that? Would you agree to that?"

She sighed. "It's not that I don't trust you, but... there have been.... corruptions... and not all of them willing... My partner, long before I was awakened, witnessed just such a corruption - it was horrible. However, the point is that I'm worried that if such a thing were to happen, any identities, either of us know... I think you get the point." There was a sadness in her eyes and voice. Etamin, her brother had never forgotten the young Squire that sent out a distress beacon and hundreds on both sides had flocked to help... but that evil Nega Queen, there had never been any hope. Etamin had just been a basic scout, and as his twin, she felt his pain also as deeply as when he had sensed, had felt the Chaos driven into the Starseed. She had felt his despair.

Finally, a smile appeared on her face again. "Would that be accepttable?"

Starlight faltered; it wasn’t like he didn’t understand, it’s just that he wasn’t expecting it. “Um, yeah,” he said. “No big deal.”

He didn’t really know many other powered people. Whisler and Newgrange didn’t count–he lived with them. Well, they adopted him. So like, that was obviously different. But other people? Senshi? He had very little exposure.

It could be argued (easily) that he didn’t have much experience with others, so maybe it was just natural that he didn’t know how to interact with them or what to do. He flashed a quick smile that he hoped didn’t look as uncertain as he felt.

“Whatever you want works.”

Pasithee smiled, "That's not to say I don't want to work with you again. I do. I just might call you up tomorrow. By the way, my codename will be 'Nicole'." She grinned and held out her hand for him to shake.

Starlight didn’t seem sure of himself but he nodded. He kept one hand over his injured shoulder but carefully extended his other hand. “I don’t have a codename, sorry. Um. I’ll think about it and if you reach out to me then I’ll let you know, if that’s okay. I just–I don’t feel very creative right now. Sorry,” he said again, and even though he felt silly about it, he fumbled to give her a scrap of paper with a phone number on it.

“I’m, uh. I’m going to head home and get my arm patched up. But thank you for helping me. Please be safe.”

fin?

Pasithee nodded and watched him. "Talk to you soon." He didn't know how close she had gotten to telling him her name - Nicole was her middle name after all. She turned and went home.
