Solo or RP Format Counts as 5 RP growth Points Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7
It's that time of the year again! Time to give presents to loved ones in the typical ceremonies of the people of Tendaji. But the question is - what is the perfect gift?
[ We're looking for two things in this world event. 1) Who is your character getting a gift for and why? 2) What exactly would be the perfect gift? You can spend the whole prompt reflecting on these decisions, asking a friend for advice on the gift to give, or going out and purchasing the gift. ]

[ Liio 1 ] Liio was looking for a gift at one of the local markets. After traveling quite a bit with his sister, he knew he needed to figure out a solution for both her and his parents. Sure, he hadn't seen his mother and father in awhile, but he loved to send them gifts or bring them something back when he visited. Especially when he went to the remote settlements that had their own unique culture and wares. Traveling through Tale was a big part of seeing the vast different cultures depending on each of the tribes. He loved exploring them with his sister, but wondered exactly what he could get for his parents.

Ziel had decided it was time to return home and at least settle down a bit. Her itch to travel and see the world had been quenched. She’d seen every nook and cranny that she could, touching and feeling out as much as she could. The world no longer held any secrets for her. Now she wanted to spend time with her family before it was a little too late. Wise words that had been given to her buy one of her many random travel companions on night after she had mentioned losing her mother before she could return and properly say goodbye. Ziel didn’t want to make that mistake.
She was in Tale for now, on her way down back to Matori. She’d stopped at the market after overhearing some folks talking about giving thanks and she’d wanted to buy something for her parents. She was currently looking at some table wares and pots that they might like, but she hadn’t spoken to them face to face in a while, so she wasn’t sure if they’d like such a gift or not. Picking put a blue pot and turning it over in her hands, she turned to the person next to her.
“Do you think this looks nice?”

Liio wasn't certain he found anything to his liking, though everything was interesting. Maybe he could find some sort of pelt for his father, and possibly some sort of crafted arrows for his mother? It wasn't really specialized, but it would work for now. The question is, what would his sister like...beside a magic scroll or three. Huffing a sigh, he was about to turn away when a voice spoke up to his side.
Turning, his green eyes caught sight of a seemingly tall girl, a hybrid with dark shifter skin and vibrant golden eyes. He glanced up and down quickly assessing her looks before he caught sight of the pot in her hand.
"Depends on what it will be used for..." He said in response, assessing it critically for a long moment, "It's a nice color, but if you're looking for something more local and unique, I'd recommend one of those with the etching. It's pattern is specialized to this tribe."

Ziel didn’t miss the looks he had given her, but she was so used to them that it went over her head. She didn’t get offended at it anymore, she wasn’t going to change herself anyway, so she’d stopped caring. He looked like a hybrid too though now that he had turned towards her and she could see his eyes didn’t match his ice skin. That was cool! The eyes gave him away as ice and leaf. And considering his knowledge of the local stuff, Ziel guessed he might have been from around here. Which meant his advice would be sound.
“I’m not sure, I’m just picking up a gift for my parents.” She put the bowl down and picked up one of the ones with the etchings.
“Something like this?” She held it up to look at it’s pattern.

He smiled his little smirk, putting on the face he mostly did to strangers as she too examined him. It was a sort of hybrid greeting, realizing each was their own unique thing and accepting it easily. That's why he enjoyed traveling, especially when he was done visiting Zena. It was refreshing to meet the mismatched of Tendaji.
Glancing down at the bowl, he looked at it before turning to look at the set. She seemed keen to pull in blues, so he quickly found one in a deep turquoise color with rounded white etchings. It was a delicate piece, but often used for food display or as a bowl. It helped that it had tall 'legs'.
He grabbed it and smiled as dashingly as he could as he offered it, "This one is rare, but the color is usually only seen in this part of Tale. Something about the clay and flowers."

“Then this one it shall be!” Ziel took it from him, offering him one of her own smiles before handing it to the merchant. It really was beautiful and she knew both of her parents would love the gift.
“Please wrap it for travel,” then she turned to the man. “Thank you stranger, I think this is the perfect gift.” And then she extended her hand to him. “I’m Ziel, nice to meet you.”
She wondered briefly if he too was looking for a gift of some kind or was just passing along. The market seemed awfully crowded on this day for it to only be a passing thing, but again she could be wrong.
“Are you also shopping around for gifts?” She asked him while waiting for the merchant to finish up his wrapping job.

His smile turned gentle as she turned away, before disappearing as he realized he still needed to find a gift for his family. Deciding to just go with his gut, he shook his head as the merchant looked toward him, thankful the merchant was pleased with the girl's purchase and not frustrated with his indecision.
Taking her dark hand in his own, he smiled with his teeth, "Nice to meet you, Ziel. I'm Liio. The pleasure is mine."
Then, like the absolute cad that he was, he moved to gently kiss the top of her hand, before dropping it as he stepped back. He didn't linger, but he also couldn't help but schmooze a little bit.
"I am, though I'm finding myself not as decisive as you. My parents are a bit...tricky..."

Ziel face lite up beet red when he kissed her hand, was he flirting with her?! Once the initial shock wore off, she gave him a languid smile, wasn’t he just fascinating!
“Nice to meet you as well,” she murmured trying with all her might not to laugh. Flirting had always been a bit of a game to her and one she hadn’t played in a while either. Maybe she could indulge just a little, he was cute, she couldn’t deny that.
“Maybe I can help you look.” She asked innocently enough. Ziel took the package from the merchant, handed him payment and put the bowl into the safety of her one shoulder bag at her hip. “I’ve got lots of time to spar really.” It was her way f hinting she didn’t mind hanging around him if he didn’t mind hanging around her for a bit.

Flirting was a game of keeping the other on their toes, and Liio enjoyed the dance when he had the right partner. This was more of a casual test to see how she would respond, and the deep blush was just noticeable enough for him to casually smirk in success. Pulling away, he'd let her take the next step.
As she casually offered to join him, he realized this might be a nice change of pace really.
"How delightful. I'm sure you can give me some insight, or at least some friendly company." He gestured away from the vendor toward some of the clothing areas, "I've resigned myself to picking out some clothing for my parents, but maybe you can give me some advice on what to pick."

“Friendly company I can guarantee.” She chuckled as she followed his gesture. She wasn’t too sure she’d be helpful in the clothing department, but she knew at least what would look good and what wouldn’t. Or at least she hoped so, her own mother had never approved of anything she liked to wear. Ziel liked to wear clothing until they were worn out and barely holding on and since she traveled a lot that meant they got plenty of wear and tear with lots of holes.
She wondered briefly if now that she was going to official find a home some place if her clothing would last longer. She’s certainly have to change up her style… And just like that her train of thought and the quest of finding something for his parents went out the door for her. Ziel only returned to reality once they were already in front of the clothing racks and she’d accidently gently bumped against him while on auto pilot.
“Sorry, yes as you were saying. Why don’t you tell me about your parents? What kind of colors or styles do they like?” She was really going to have to concentrate really hard on this one. So she stared intently at him.

Little did she know, she was exactly the right type considering his mother and father. They were both more practical than fashionable, and even Liio had that sense. While he liked to look clean, his travels meant he didn't carry much, and often would sell his clothing for a new batch if needed. Or donate it to the local orphanage.
When she bumped into him, he gently steadied her on her lower back, a lingering touch for a moment before letting go and smiling charmingly.
"No worries." He replied brightly, before slowly answering her question, "Mother is very practical, and father is a bit of a wild one. They don't really make sense, but they work. I think my father would appreciate anything light, easy to menuver in, and practical. My mother is simply practical. But needs room for her to move with her archery."
He looked around at the outfits, pointing to a few as the merchant quickly grabbed it and held it out for them to review.
"Nothing flashy for mother, but father probably doesn't mind...as long as he can move."

Truth be told, they sounded like her kind of people. Alassiel had brought her up with the same practical mind set and her father wasn’t far behind either. He didn’t look like the ostentatious kind either, in fact he looked like he also liked to travel quite a bit. Ziel found herself liking that about him, liking his mannerisms too. People usually didn’t react well when she spaced out.
“You could get a nice leather belt of some kind for your mother, one never has enough of those.” It wouldn’t get in the way of her archery as he had mentioned, and it was pretty useful. She would also be able to attach things to it like pouches if she saw a need for it.
“Your father is a little trickier though I think.” She looked over the items. “A hat perhaps? Though I do suppose it depends on where they live.” It would be the difference between a warm hat or one that blocked out the harsh sun.
“How come you don’t get them something for their hobbies?” Usually that was what everyone sought when they tried to gift others. “And do you travel a lot?” Ziel closed her lips after her second question, she had to remind herself that it was one at a time. She brushed her hand over some of the fabrics, looking over all the pieces.

He hadn't thought of a belt, and nodded to the belts with a request to look them over as well, "Great idea, she would appreciate that." He said with a smile, before looking them over and picking out one in a darker color that had places for additional bag attachments. She would appreciate the customization options.
"A hat?" He said with a friendly chuckle, "I think he'd rip it off right away..." He thought over some more, before shaking his head, "His hobbies...not quite sure outside of hunting but..." he always loved the sashes, so Liio decided to pick out one that was made of a more sturdy fabric.
Once both of those items were packed up, he placed them in his own pack and noted he'd need to send them out.
Then he turned to Ziel, ready to answer his second question, "Right now I'm traveling with my sister, mostly back and forth but we've talked about extending our paths. We're mostly just training with our magic, and Sauti makes it easy to cast spells away from people..."
He found himself wanting to spend more time getting to know her, "You seem like a traveler as well. How about I pay for something to eat and we can share some stories?" He'd enjoy hearing about where she had been and see if it made sense for them to go there, "Could see if my sister is around too, she'd like to meet you."

“Good choice.” Ziel said with a bob of her head, both items were very practical. Should she have gone with something like those too? She played with one of her braids as she worried about her choice, but she also knew that her parents were particular about their clothing choices…
“Oh! What kind of magic around you doing? I’m also a magic user.” Poof, the worry was gone at the mention of magic which Ziel snagged on. She too was a magic user. “I’m studying to be a summoner in the future.” She loved the power of nature at her fingertips.
“That’s not an offer I can refuse.” She almost purred. If there was one thing she really enjoyed it certainly was good food and stories and she was truly curious to know where he had been. “Oh, I would love to meet her!” It would be nice to spend some time with people and not out traveling for a little bit. Or at least as long as he’d have her for now.
"Lead the way!"
