Omari was feeling surprisingly somber today as he stared out across the ocean. The teen was wrapped up with a light shawl to block out the early morning chill of the ocean breeze. Even though they didn't get the cold weather that many other countries received the teen was still more susceptible to a chill and preferred wearing something across his shoulders, it also gave him something to fiddle with while he was lost in his thoughts. Already his fingers were twisting the frayed ends of the shawl, a tell tale sign that he was contemplating a lot of things as he watched the morning mist rolling in across the beach.
He had already picked gifts out with Olokun for all of their family, but today he seemed rather caught up in the realization that they were all doing their own things. Omari was thankful to everyone and he just hoped that his presents would reflect his feelings towards them. Even if the family couldn't always come together anymore the teen would cherish the moments that he had gotten to spend with his siblings, each one a beloved spirit in his life that he would always be thankful for. Omari knew that it would be unlikely for them to all come together at a feast this year, especially with his oldest siblings having their own families now, so he would have to settle for something else this year.

Taking advantage of the cool morning, Oly had gotten up early and headed out for some fishing. He enjoyed the peacefulness of the boat, just him and the water. It allowed for a lot of time to let his mind rest. He could only handle so much quiet though! Before long, he was back on land with a full basket of fish on his back. He saw his brother out when he approached the house and smirked. "You look like you're thinking too hard again," he teased.

"Why? Is the steam coming from my ears again?" Omari didn't miss a beat as he reached up to cover his ears in response to his brother's teasing. The hybrid grinned before lowering his hands and noticing the fish that Oly had with him. "Fishing again? Here I am thinking about all of this gift giving stuff and what to be thankful for while you had the much better idea." Fishing could be relaxing even though Omari was not that great at staying still. He didn't blame his brother for going solo considering how antsy he could be the few times that he had tried to go fishing.

Oly snorted and nodded. "Exactly. I can smell the burning." He dropped the basket carefully with a grunt of effort. "Well, that's some teamwork. I go to catch dinner for tonight, and you come by being thankful." He chuckled lightly and plunked onto one of the nearby chairs. "Really though. You're thinking about thankful stuff? What's got that going on?"

Omari grinned but only shook his head as his twin went along with his antics. "Good timing then. I'm super thankful for that fish, especially if I'm not the one cooking it." Omari teased back before making a face at the question. Honestly he wasn't even certain why he was so bothered by these things lately. It had to be the season for sure. Omari let out a sigh as he plunked into a chair next to his sibling. "Just the season, ya know? Usually we had family feasts while growing up and giving gifts but this year we're all so spread out. I'm just trying to think of another way to celebrate the season and let everyone know I'm thankful for them." It would probably irk the gods if he was conceited and took everything for granted so Omari truly didn't wanna mess up this season.

Oly gave a slow nod. It certainly was the season.. and they certainly were all spread out. "It feels a lot different," he agreed with a softer tone. Being the youngest of the brood, the twins were quite unaccustomed to the smaller family gatherings as of late. "It stinks when you have to factor in how well a gift will travel rather than just how much they'll like it. Don't get to see them open it or anything..." He sighed and tipped his head back. "Do you think we'll be like them? Living off somewhere else?"

"Yeah. I think I miss that part the most." Omari agreed with a frown. He did enjoy seeing his family actually opening their presents and watching the reactions on their faces. It was even better when he was younger and often found more joke gifts than anything else for his siblings, something that usually got laughter from everyone. Now though he had to rely on letters and hope that they would mention them either through those correspondences or at their next in person meeting. "Somewhere else?" Omari made a face at the very thought. "I don't think so." He shook his head as he couldn't even imagine living far away from Matori or Oba. "I'd like to focus on dancing more than anything so maybe I would travel to learn more about it but that's that." He could not even imagine how his siblings lived in places like Zena or Sauti! It just wasn't the same.
Still, the idea of letters had him thinking. "I know we can't travel to them and we've bought gifts but maybe a note or something could work? A reflection of thanks?" It seemed cheesy but maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to include at least a little line or two with their presents when they sent them out.

The reaction was one of the best parts about giving a gift! In person, the real reaction was clear to see and he could tell right away whether or not he'd made the right choice. Sending it off meant they had too much time to think about their response. He wasn't worried that his gifts would be disliked, but it did provide relief to see an instant smile when it was opened. "But wouldn't it be fun to go deliver the presents ourselves? Then we wouldn't have to miss their reactions." He sighed with a smirk and shook his head. Surely he was along the same lines as Omari. He'd never given much thought into traveling outside of the trips they already took between their homes.
"A letter?" He tapped a finger to his lips thoughtfully. It was often easier to say the things one wanted to say in writing as opposed to in person. That was a benefit to distance. "You know what? It has been a long time since I've written any of them anything." His lips spread with a pleased smile. "I like that idea."

Omari shivered at the thought of venturing that far north. Maybe during the summer he would visit Sauti, but it would be a very rare occasion for him to visit Zena. Still, he was glad his twin liked the idea of letters and Omari immediately brightened up. "Right? We can toss in some personal things that we appreciate about everyone. That would be a nice touch instead of simply sending the presents without anyone else."
"We have some colored ink at home and I could look for some nice parchment if you want to be a bit fancier than usual. " He added with a small grin. Maybe some of that parchment with the faded watercolors of seashells on the back? To remind his siblings about the beautiful ocean they were missing out on?

Anything could be put onto a piece of paper. Appreciation, well wishes, lamentations of how much they were missed... well, maybe not the last one. It would be best to keep the letters happy.
Speaking of which! He laughed and shook his head. "As long as it makes it to them in one piece. Mom and dad send letters all the time, so I'm sure they'll know what'll work best for long trips." He glanced over to his basket of fish and felt another smile rise. "I bet it would look cool to use fish scales! It would keep the letter light, too."

"Sounds like a good plan." Omari nodded. They most definitely would be able to help them seal a package of letters so that nothing got lost! He did make a face at the offer of fish before pondering the idea. "I guess as long as the fish is super clean it could leave a cool imprint. Do we just roll the fish in watercolors first?" He asked as he tried to figure out exactly how to utilize his twin's idea. Sometimes a lot of ideas escaped him but thankfully he was at least skillful with dancing, something that he was thankful to his mother for.

Oly chuckled and nodded. "I was thinking about sticking the scales right to the paper, but we can do both." His expression lit up with delight. "Oh! We can put some scales over the paint imprints! That would look so cool!" He jumped to his feet and looked into his fish basket. "Why don't you grab the paints while I get these ready? I'll leave a couple for the paint and use scales from the others after I've gotten them cleaned."

Omari grinned. "Great idea!" That would definitely show how hard they had worked to make these letters! The teen shifted so that he could grab his belongings. "Don't forget we'll need parchment too! I guess I can grab that while you do this." He teased playfully before dashing away to gather the supplies

Oly scooped the basket back up and headed for the kitchen. "Yeah, be sure to get the envelopes from mom, too! I'll be busy with the fish." His end of the job was messy, but he was determined to make this brilliant idea work out. If it came out as planned, surely their siblings would really be able to tell how much their little brothers cared. Perhaps others their age might think their enthusiasm a little silly, but this was what their family was all about. It was easy to take for granted, but when they took the time to think about it, there was truly a lot to be thankful for.
