Quote: It's that time of the year again! Time to give presents to loved ones in the typical ceremonies of the people of Tendaji. But the question is - what is the perfect gift?
[ We're looking for two things in this world event. 1) Who is your character getting a gift for and why? 2) What exactly would be the perfect gift? You can spend the whole prompt reflecting on these decisions, asking a friend for advice on the gift to give, or going out and purchasing the gift. ]

Goran had spent days begging his sister to take him out to pick up presents for his parents. He had raised enough money by helping around the hall that he could get them something for the holiday celebrations this year. He knew they didn't celebrate much, though his father loved to dote on them his mother was more of a one-and-done gift giver, but he wanted to participate now that he finally could.
So, after begging and begging Taliessin (mostly to get her to help), he was ready and excited to get out and pick something for his family.

Taliessin was busy practicing her skills with the traveling minstrel, an opportunity that was quite rare considering how long they promised to stay. She would practice from sunrise to sunset, building up her skill and learning as much as she could. As the minstrel prepared to leave, they left her with additional tools and practices she could use until (hopefully) he returned on his way back from his travels.
Unfortunately, during this time Goran decided he wanted to go out, pestering her whenever she took a break until finally she caved in. And so, as she finished up her practice that made her fingers sore, she was ready to go out and relax.
As she approached her little brother, she couldn't help but smile at his excitement. It was rare the quiet child would be so up beat, and hopefully it meant this would be a fun break from her marathon of training.

As soon as he saw Taliessin, Goran raced over to all but jump on the petite girl. He laughed a moment, also unheard of from the young boy outside of when he was excited, before leaning back from where he hung to look up at his sister.
"finally, I thought I was about to DIE from waiting so long. Let's go!"

She wasn't quite ready for him to jump, and let out a breath as the young boy hung off of her for a second. How did her mother manage this, let alone with two growing boys? She couldn't even imagine. As he let go, she let out a laugh and ruffled his hair with a wink.
"That's right, I'm here and ready to go shopping!"
She wasn't sure what the boy had in mind, but she was prepared and excited to get out of the house after such a long practice period.

Spinning around, he raced off with Taliessin's arm, pulling on the small girl who wasn't that small compared to him. His dad did say he was a growing boy, and teased that he might be bigger than him eventually. Goran didn't really care much for it either way, size wasn't important to the young buy who just loved to enjoy the world around him. So he wasn't as bothered as each time he grew, he got a little closer to the height of his small sister.

Just because Goran didn't care, didn't mean that Taliessin didn't notice. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes as her lanky brother pulled her ahead, pursing her lips as she noticed he was much taller than her hips now. Gosh, was he going to be as big as their father? Imagine if he also had the same wide build!
It would be like the many fishermen of their village, which she wasn't as used to compared to the petite dancers of the hall.
Finally they made it to the market and her brother let go of her arm, Tali rubbing her shoulder in jest (or not) as they slowed down and eventually came to a stop.

"Okay, where do we start?" He asked with a serious face, looking up at his sister as he waited for her to lead. Not like it was his choice to come here in the first place, or his money to purchase the items. But instead, he depended on his sister to make the first call - after all, she had been shopping before...usually he just lingered by his mother's side if he was dragged to the market.

She resisted the effort to shake her head at her brother. Of course he'd drag her out here with no plan what so ever. Grinning down at him, she couldn't resist running her hand through his hair and messing it up, laughing as she looked around.
"Well the first question is...who are you getting a gift for? Then we can pick the right place. Like father might want some sort of tool, whereas mother would enjoy a balm. Or if you're looking for something for Aria...we could get something to make. Like a trinket customized for her. Or something to help her with traveling."

As much as he wanted to get something for his mother and father, Goran was excited at the prospect of making something for his traveling sister. Maybe he could even do it with his older brother. Nodding eagerly at the offer, he looked up at Tali with bright eyes.
"I do want to get her something...maybe something like a bag or something she can use...but I could decorate?"

Immediately, Taliessin began to get in planning mode. As she was older, she always was one to storm in, get things done, and get back to her other tasks. This was no exception, and she moved to her toes to look out and hummed in thoguht.
"Let's see...Aria could always use a bag...and even if we can't decorate it, maybe we could make some treats that wont go bad as they travel...or even a card or letter."
She found herself getting invested, secretly excited to craft. She loved keeping her hands busy.

Her excitement got him excited, and Goran began to almost hop around.
"I saw some of the girls in the village making bracelets and necklaces out of string...they knotted them like how some of the dancers braid their hair...maybe we can do that and add some charms?"
He wasn't sure how to do that, but that didn't matter. Surely he could get someone to help or show him how it was done.

Grinning, Taliessin winked down at her brother, "Why that's the finest idea I've heard today. I'll bet we could go to the fabric vendor and get some thread...and maybe see if someone has some little bells we could put into charms. Maybe dad could help us with that..."
Pointing over his shoulder, she nodded, "That's where we'll need to go."

It was all coming together, and Goran spun on his feet and raced ahead. He waited until his sister caught up as he looked at the fabric vendor. Another patron was there, so he'd have to wait. As he pulled out his little allowance, which felt like the heaviest bag of coin, he looked bashfully at his siser.
"Do you think she'll like it?" He was keen to please Aria, a girl he hardly knew but heard so many stories he just knew he loved her. He just hoped she would love him, and the gifts he sent.

Sighing a moment, Taliessin raced after her brother before they got here. Looking down at his bag of coin, she knew it wouldn't cover everything...good thing she brought her own stuff. She'd have to make a purchase too so he wouldn't catch on to her spending more money.
As she considered her cover, she was caught off guard.
"Oh kiddo..." She said slowly, moving to ruffle his hair gently, "There's no way she wouldn't. Trust me, when Aria comes back..between telling stories I'm sure she'll do everything she can to get to know you. You're her family, there's no way she wouldn't love every single thing you do."
As the patron ahead of them moved up, she nodded in the direction, "Come on, let's go pick out something before someone else comes in and gets in our way."
