He strode back to the camp where his stew over the fire waited. The hearty scent was already making his mouth water. There was nothing more tasty than outdoor food. Plus he had finally managed to master this dish. He patted Xerius's head companionably and gave the radaku a leg bone to chew on. He had been fed earlier. He sighed in utter contentment. It was a beautiful day in summer and the air stayed balmy but gentle as the night wore on, a heavy cloak over the world. His mother told him that was why it felt so right to snuggle up under a blanket on cold nights. It was because the sun was doing the same thing. He looked up when he heard a twig snap, he got a clue as to who was when the radaku ignored the sound.

Thallassa grinned when he saw the joy break on his friends face as Rao guessed who was visiting. The two had consistently bumped into each other on their travels, walking calmly intoeach others camp to partake in coffee, food and other companionship. They had formed a solid bond over many nights spent in the bush together. Now it felt like he had another brother. He strode forward to grasp the other man's forarm in a friendly greeting. "It's been about a month where have you been hiding?" He tilted his head curiously. "On a grand adventure were you without me? How dare you sir. "

Rao gave him an unimpressed look. "Actually I was escorting your aunt Ristadis on some of her adventures." He flicked his finger insultingly at his friend, even men sometimes behaved like small boys when they were alone. Just as close girlfriends are apt to get a little giggly. "Aren't you glad you asked?" He had a lovely time with Ta as he came to call her after quite a bit of time together. She was fiery and he was drawn to her laughter like a moth to a flame. He wouldn't be all that worried but she kept mentioning a water mailed named Umen. What a stupid name.

Thallassa grinned slowly, an evil glint in his eye. "Don't tell me you're going to be my new uncle. "He made strangling noises and pretended to die in theatrical fashion. He had an odd family arrangement with his aunt not being all that old and also an adopted sister to his mother. Unlike Ny, he believed that one should get to marry who they wanted. So if love did bloom between the two so be it. The more the merrier on the ever wandering path. It was sure a fun way to tease his friend though.

Real gave his hysterical friend look of sheer disgust for his antics. "Your aunt is a beautiful woman and my dear friend, and you should be so lucky to have me as your uncle, fool. He sneered the last out rather fast, being unable to resist the blatant taunt. "Get off the ground. You're behaving like a child." He tossed his silky mane of hair that looked very much like Kiyelt's except without the white streak. Rao crossed his legs in a superior manner then proceeded to dig into his bowl of stew, waiting patiently for Thallassa to realize he was also hungry. Anytime now.

His stomach didn't deed notice the fragrance stew simmering merrily over the open campfire. Thal peeled himself up off the ground. With as much dignity as he could muster he dug out his bowl and ladelled some stew and they ate in companionable silence as good friends. They were finished and the dishes were done. Thallassa prepared some coffee for the evening, chit chat that was the ritual when they were together. "In all seriousness, having you in the family wouldn't be so bad," he poured them a coffee and handed a rustic coffee mug to his friend before returning to a seat on the log to enjoy his own. The first sip augmented with cream tasted like a warm hug. He moaned happily.

Rao thanked his friend and accepted the coffee gratefully. "I appreciate your sentiment but first she must also choose me. On that note who is this human fellow she keeps nattering on about?" Rista had kept mentioning the man throughout the whole trip, which did nothing but irritate Rao. The only person she should be mooning over that hard should be himself. He was handsome enough at least he felt like he was so, when he looked at still pools and his own reflection. He looked at Thallassa are hoping to hear that Umen was hideous and preferably asexual.

" He is a waterborn who might be one of the prettiest males out there. Many females do a double take when he walks by, he is also quite mysterious. He has chosen the beast tamer path and has been around since Aunt Rista was just a prentice." When you added all of it up Rao might not have that much of a chance. However, his aunt had always been one to look underneath the skin deep level. He felt like her sparkly yellow eyes were quite decent at penetrating souls

"Okay, okay, stop talking. I don't want to know any more." He was slightly concerned that he might be a bit green. The odds seem to be stacked against him. "What should I do? What can I possibly do to compete with a hot beast tamer? I mean the man carries a whip." He buried his face in his mug and Idly wondered if there was enough to left drown to drown in. Just hisshitty luck that the woman he might be destined to be with with was potentially taken by another male without so much of the by your leave.

"How about being more your usual self and less of a big baby. It's tradition to compete as men to win the lady's hand. Make sure it is her choice though she is a free spirited woman and would not take kindly to being fought over. Even he knew that much. Boys tended to forget about that important part. . Thal hoped that it had sunk in for his friends sake. Thal felt jealous for adventure Rao had gone on. He was going to ignore that it had been with his aunt.

He blinked a bit taken aback by the bluntness and also the sheer primal beauty of males competing over females like the mamuu with the most weight and the biggest Raptrix who got his choice with the ladies. Thal was also not wrong in the idea that the woman would have the final choice, after all if there were no Umen guy then Rao would still have asked Rista to for a date. He would made his intentions clear or just be himself? What should he do?

It looked like all Raolvar was getting an awful headache, girls looked complicated. He was more than a little grateful that he didn't have these problems in life yet. He was a lone free ranger and it felt good. He sometimes wished there was someone to hold and talk to at night but then he thought about how some men, case in point, turn themselves completely inside out over a woman or about how scary Kina was and he got over it. "Get yourself together man."

Rao realized he was panicking and spotting the cold water decanter poured some seriously cold water over himself. Sputtering he admitted, his hair slicked down over his eyes, "Alright I feel better." It had been enough of a shock and he stood to dry his hair in front of the fire. "It will work out I will try my best." He would work hard and build up money and a name for himself while he worked on charming that beautiful woman.

Thal could basically hear the gears grinding away in the other man's head. He stood and grabbed something from the bag for a bit. He stood and handed the flask of alcohol to Rao after he took a drink. "A toast to the victor go the spoils."
Well, maybe. Anyway his aunt was a special woman that a great many underestimated. He did not doubt that she would have these two whipped into shape in no time. She was scary good with those swords.

Somehow Thal's words made sense, whoever was the victor would win, there would be an awful lot of feelings involved but hers would be the most important. If he could remember that when his blood wanted to boil over something his rival had said he might just have a chance. "This is going to be a long year a very long year. What about you? No prospects no interests, is ignorance really bliss as they say?" His friend looked entirely too comfortable over there.
