Picking Out The Perfect Gift
Solo or RP Format Counts as 5 RP growth Points Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7
It's that time of the year again! Time to give presents to loved ones in the typical ceremonies of the people of Tendaji. But the question is - what is the perfect gift?
[ We're looking for two things in this world event. 1) Who is your character getting a gift for and why? 2) What exactly would be the perfect gift? You can spend the whole prompt reflecting on these decisions, asking a friend for advice on the gift to give, or going out and purchasing the gift. ]

Tiam was left to his own thoughts as he walked the familiar path back to his hometown. He’d spent the day in the town over where his mentor was. He’d been learning more tricks of the trade. Being a healer was a tricky thing. But then his mentor had mentioned that they needed to go out and get a gift for their husband to show that they cared. That comment had left Tiam thinking. While he didn’t have a wife or husband to give a gift to, or even a boyfriend or girlfriend, he did had a mother. She was a single parent and did everything for him to make sure he had what he needed and was successful. Tiam wanted to show her that he wasn’t an ungrateful son.
So that meant he needed to think hard about what to get her. Normally his mother didn’t ask for much and what she did ask for was something that the house needed or was food for her to prepare for him and his grandmother. Syqvara never asked for something that was just for her. He had never thought to question that until now and it made him feel like a bad son for all of five minutes. Then he shook himself free of those thoughts and set to thinking about what his mother would like.
He knew she was a summoner. She was good with the elements. Most of them anyways. She still had some trouble with a few but she hardly used those ones. There was no need to. Tiam thought about a new staff but his mother was really attached to the one she had. So that thought was quickly tossed out the proverbial door. Then he wondered if she might like a crystal orb. Hadn’t he seen a few of those in the market the other day? He wasn’t sure what color would be best. His mother didn’t really seem to have a favorite. All colors were everywhere in their house. And in equal amounts too.
He sighed to himself as he kicked a rock and watched it bounce along in front of him. His eyes followed the trail before he tilted his head back to look at the clouds. She took note of the different shapes but none of them provided him with any inspiration on what to get for his mother. He wanted to get her something special. She deserved it for all the hard work she put into raising him without his dad. Not that the man could be called that in his book. Sure he was still friends with his mother but he wasn’t exactly a parent. He was too busy with his new wife and their new baby.
When he brought his head back to normal he saw that he was coming up on his hometown. He let a small smile sit on his lips as he made plans to go to the market before heading home. If he could find something while window shopping then that would be all the better. Tiam picked up his pace just a little so that he could get there faster but not so much that he was jogging.
By the time he reached the outskirts of town he had an idea about what to get. Or the beginnings of an idea. He knew that his mother had been wanting to make a new blanket for her bed since the one she had was ratty and had a few holes in it. Sy didn’t want to buy one since it wouldn’t be personal and comfortable, his mother’s words not his. So Tiam figured he could buy the fabric for her to make it and then surprise her with it. It would give him a chance to pick out the different fabrics for her to use but also allow her the choice in how to put it together. And if she wanted the help he would be more than willing to sew a few pieces together with her.
With the idea made and him settling on the choice he knew exactly where he was going once he reached the market. He just hoped that the shop he was looking for had the fabric choices they usually did. Tiam knew there was one that his mother liked because it was soft. He planned to use that one as the back, the one that would line the inside and keep her warm at night. As for the rest.. He was thinking that maybe he’d go with a dark green and a gold with a little bit of dark brown thrown in. Those rich colors would go good with his mother’s room anyways.
