Picking Out The Perfect GiftSolo or RP Format

Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7It's that time of the year again! Time to give presents to loved ones in the typical ceremonies of the people of Tendaji. But the question is - what is the perfect gift?
[ We're looking for two things in this world event. 1) Who is your character getting a gift for and why? 2) What exactly would be the perfect gift? You can spend the whole prompt reflecting on these decisions, asking a friend for advice on the gift to give, or going out and purchasing the gift. ]

The trip across the sea a second time was not as bad as it was the first time. Sure, she still felt a little sick, and stumbling around the boat was no fun, but the seas between Yael and Matori weren't as bad as those from Kahikina.
Now, they were resting at the port and taking a look around, ignoring the leers from the Earthlings that they were all but accustomed to. Especially Nayyara, who was such a unique Aishan that most Earthlings had yet to see an Elidae in Tendaji.

Zayana spent a lot of time remembering her travels to Tendaji ages ago. When she and her sister joined the young mystic in her journey to learn about Earthlings. The adventure they went on was something that defined her childhood, and she also got to witness the founding of Belrea.
It was ages ago, and to be on this journey again with her daughter was something that made her both sentimental and a little bit excited.

The little settlement they were at was mostly a port town, and it was clear with all of the items they sold that they tailored such items toward those visitors. It meant an opportunity to find gems she could purchase for her trip and to send back home.
"What do you think auntie Kanika would like?" She asked her mother curiously as they looked over the wares.

"Hmm..." She replied slowly with a smile, "You know, she does loves those shells she finds down on the beach. Maybe we can find something here..."
She pointed over toward a stall with strings of shells and jewelry, "What do you think of that one? I see some colors not normally found with the Hapuna vendors..."

What a great idea! Her mother was becoming more of a reflection of the colorful life of Kahikina, so she'd probably enjoy the pretty items she found here.
"Okay, let's do it." She said with determination, ignoring the stares from the vendors as she passed by and marched with determination toward the jewelry one.

She smiled at her daughter's back, happy to see her full of life and excitement and appreciating her desire to give back to her family. It was her way of giving them a little bit of the trip she was on. She made her proud, and that was always a nice thing to feel when your daughter was growing up to a strong, independent woman.
Following behind, she glared at those who seemed to be rude, but smiling at the younglings who were curiously peering around their parents.

"I'm looking for some shells for my aunt. Something local that can't be found anywhere else...especially not in Kahikina." She said quickly in greeting to the water earthling.
She watched as the vendor swallowed before quickly moving to a second and pointing out some shells for her to peruse. Smiling in response, Nayyara looked down and studied each shell carefully.

Rolling her eyes at how her daughter charged into the situation, Zayana lingered behind and watched the interaction cooly. She wondered if Nayyara would find anything to her liking, or if they'd have to go hunt down some shells on her own.
Maybe she'd hold off on that recommendation, because Nayyara probably would agree and race off to the beach right away.

After a long moment of consideration, Nayyara hummed to herself and finally picked out a few shells that were unique colors she hadn't seen before. They were pearly and had pretty shapes, and were in quite good condition. She'd probably be able to take them with her or send them back as a delivery to her family.
"Momma, what do you think?" She asked, turning her head and waving the older woman over.

Walking over toward her daughter's side, she looked down and considered the colors as well. Nodding after a moment, she looked at Nayyara.
"Looks perfect. I'm sure my sister will love them. Are you going to ship them back?"

"It's settled then. We'll take all of the ones you selected. Here's our coin." She said with a nod, making sure that the coin was accepted before directing the vendor to pack things up very carefully. Once she had her package, she turned back to her mother.
"I know there's risk, but I'm going to ship it back. I don't want to accidently lose it or break it while we're traveling...and what if I find more stuff?"

"If you insist, let's go find someone to ship it back. I think there are some ships heading to Kahikina soon."
She directed them away from the vendor, smiling one last time at the youngling thinking how adorable the earthling children were. They were so tiny, so innocent.

As they wandered toward the merchant ships, Nayyara too took a look at all the Earthlings. This was only the beginning, they'd see so many more on their travels. She hoped that their curiosity was all they'd face, and not conflict.
She hoped this trip would be peaceful, but it was hard to tell with how far they would go. At least she was strong now, strong enough to fight with trainers helping her along the way, and she had her mother by her side.
Smiling, she trekked on, excited to send the first of many gifts back home.

Zayana smiled at her daughter one last time, before she began to scout out where they might grab some food after they sent off this gift. Everywhere smelt so delicious, she couldn't wait to dig into the fish a delicacies of this region. Hopefully they wouldn't get too sick of it before they headed deeper into Tendaji.
