Neryn did not enjoy their human glamour. In fact, they would rather walk around and be stared at as a Velencian than walk around and be judged as a human. Why did so many either misgender them, or assume what they were depending on their clothing and hair style? It was incredibly frustrating, and for all of Ryn's (a nickname they'd chosen because it was part of both names) judgement of humans and Earth, this was a level they couldn't understand. Why did it even matter what was 'in Ryn's pants'? Did they really have to have a nameplate that said "my pronouns are they/them"?
"Have a great day, sir!" Ryn tried to not cringe a little at the 'sir' comment as they exited the clothing store with a small bag of clothing. Sir at the very least was easier to handle than 'ma'am' but it still jarred them a little when they heard it. Ryn was just... Ryn. Why did humans have to label them one way or the other, ugh.
The mall - a very weird label for an indoor marketplace in Ryn's opinion - bustled with humans doing their holiday shopping. Apparently, there was some sort of holiday coming up and a very large sale event coming up. Ryn didn't really understand but every single storefront seemed to have some sort of 'Black Friday Sale! Up to 90% off!!' sign. If you could get away with cutting prices so much... why not just always have the prices that low...
Humans didn't make sense.
Ryn found a quiet corner of the food court and settled down with their 'veggie burrito'. They stared at it, unsure of how to eat such a creation. It sounded good, but now that they had it...
"... how does one eat this creation..." they said, perplexed.
[Mistress Morbid] Come save this alien in human clothing from staring at this burrito until it goes back pls

Remi sighed as he trudged through the throngs of people and tried to ignore the ever increasing amount of Christmas music that played over the speakers in almost every single store he'd been in that day. It wasn't that he hated this time of year but dear lord. There were more then five Christmas songs out there people! And no. Playing different covers by different people didn't count either. Ugh... Whatever. He was almost done anyway. It wasn't as if he had a large list of people to shop for... Just a few friends he'd kept in touch with from school.. That was it. Remi shifted his bags into one hand as he used the other to rub his neck. Food... Food would take his mind off all this. He dipped into the the side entrance for the food court, hoping that maybe he'd find something there. Except a familiar face caught his eye. Was that...? "Ryn??" He called, as he approached closer.

Neryn glanced up, blinking several times as someone called their name. It was very odd, especially here. Not being called Ryn, but the fact that it would be here in this location of a lot of humans. What human knew them any way? True, Neryn was a little distinctive even in their human glamour, but that didn't mean any one would necessarily recognize them...
Light purple eyes glanced around until they settled on a blue haired young human male from... where... ah, right, that History 202 course at DCU. His name was... Remi, if Ryn remembered. He was decently nice, and hadn't had any issues with Ryn's pronouns. Ryn did find his hair and eye color combination to be fascinating, and that the yellow-gold color was rather pleasing. In a purely aesthetic sort of way, of course.
There was an emotion Neryn was supposed to do when greeting a... friend, yes? Smile, maybe wave? That sounded right. Sometimes, Neryn felt this whole pretending to be a human thing to be rather exhausting. Not that Remi knew that Neryn was an alien. Ryn was just an awkward human puzzled by metal wrapped 'burritos'.
Greet your human, Ryn.
"Ah, Remi! You... come to this food court as well?" they said with an awkward little wave and raised voice back. The burrito sat still wrapped, slowly leaking grease onto the plate...

Remi smiled. "Yeah... I figured I would dip in here to get away from the crowd for a few minutes." He said, glancing down at the bags in his hand. He had hoped Christmas shopping wouldn't be such a drain but silly him... "What about you? How are you fairing??" Remi glanced at the tray in front of him, suddenly shifting awkwardly. "I uh, I can go if you were in the middle of something." Of course he was in the middle of something "I.. er.. I mean.." He sighed. "I didn't mean to interrupt you."

Conversing with humans was so frustrating. There were so many micro expressions and unspoken social cues and tonal inflections that made it almost impossible for Neryn to even begin to comprehend or learn. They sighed as Remi started back shifting and back pedalling and held up their hands. "No, no, please, you are not interrupting. I just did not expect to see someone from class here in the food court today. I still-- Sometimes I forget that people do have lives outside university," they said, running a hand through their hair, loosening some teal strands from the messy bun. How did humans do it...
"Please, feel free to sit with me. I was just getting some lunch, though I find myself a little... unsure of how to consume this veggie burrito without it exploding..." they said, gesturing to the chair across from them and then the foiled wrapped monstrosity in front of him. Logically, they should just take a bite into it, but it was so large that it, well, intimidated them.
"Why do humans insist on everything being gigantic..." Neryn muttered under their breath.
