Vígríðr was out on another patrol as usual. Another night, another evening spent hoping to meet the agents of Chaos in glorious combat. It was hard to feel as alive as he did when trading blows with the mortal enemies of life as he knew it. What a rush.

He'd seen that many Order members preferred to keep to the rooftops when looking out for trouble, but he himself tended to just wander the streets as he would normally. After all, his page attire may have looked a bit dated but most people just figured he was a LARPer or something similar. Still, a tad more inconspicuous ​than Japanese school girl outfits or whatever they were.

He had just rounded the corner when he sensed a familiar sort of energy nearby. It seemed to be moving at a steady pace. Another patrolling member of Order? Vígríðr looked around and didn't see anyone, then remembered the thought he'd had just a moment prior and looked up. There she was!

A quick leap into the air found him on the rooftops as well, just one building adjacent to the senshi.

"Hail!" he called, giving a big wave to announce himself.

"Hearty and hale, thank you," Vígríðr replied, grinning widely. "It's good to see you again, Vela. Strange that we keep crossing paths, but I suppose with both of us on patrol this part of the city is well-protected indeed."

The tall man crossed his arms over the bit of his chest that his tunic left exposed, glancing down over the side of the building they stood upon to watch a few pedestrians below.

"'Tis a slow day, however. I have yet to find any agent brave enough to show themselves. Perhaps word of our heroism grows! They know that their nefarious deeds will avail them not under our watchful eyes."

The page gave a rumbling chortle.

"And what of you? Anything interesting on your route?"

Vígríðr raised a brow at the request, still amused at Vela's comment about his diction. He thought he was very well-spoken, all things considered!

"Sparring eh? Normally I would find it passing strange that a tiny woman would wish to clash with a son of Jupiter for a second time, but you are admittedly quite fiery."

The page grinned widely.

"You see, because you're the senshi of bonfires... Forget it. Even small statures can hold the spirit of a Valkyrie within, and I would be foolhardy to underestimate an opponent."

Vígríðr settled into a lowered position, arms spread and palms up.

"Come then, let thunder clash with flame! We shall see which emerges the victor!"

Vígríðr scoffed at the idea that Vela might spar without using her magic. He looked visibly taken aback.

"Why would I ask for a handicap? Your magic is part of your might, is it not? I wish for you to come at me while bringing nothing less than your full strength to bear!"

The blonde man's expression broke into a fierce grin.

"After all, knights get more power in their fists than do senshi of the same rank. 'Tis inherent, but you would be putting yourself at a disadvantage to forgo magic."

He laughed then, thrilled by the promise of coming battle (even if it was just practice).

"Give your all, Sailor Vela of Bonfires, and I shall give you mine!"

Finally, battle would be met! Vígríðr would have been lying if he'd said he wasn't excited. Duel or no, there was little more thrilling than the rush of combat. Pitting one's strength against another, and emerging victorious by your own strength of arm. There were some who had accused him of getting drunk on a battle high, and he wouldn't deny it. A dangerous hobby and addiction both, but one whose price the page was willing to pay.

Vela had launched right into an attack after Vígríðr's encouragement, much to his delight. Not only that, the sailor scout had led with her magical attack. It was true to form, both a dance and a hazard. A dangerous spectacle as embers scattered everywhere. Not sure whether there was more to the magic, the knight-in-training kept his head on a swivel so as to try and avoid all of the glowing firelights... and was punched squarely in the jaw.

"Loki's a**, woman! Now that's some subterfuge and initiative!" he guffawed, rubbing his chin. "Didn't even give me the chance to react!"

As he spoke, an ember alighted upon the shoulder of his tunic and began to smoulder. Frowning, Vígríðr clamped a large hand over the small flame before it could flare up.

"Hm. I shame myself. Hit with both the feint and the true attack. Let us hope you are hardy, Vela."

As he spoke, the tall man moved seamlessly into a standing dropkick aimed squarely at his opponent's shoulders.

Vígríðr lay flat on his back following his kick, grounded for a moment before he pulled his knees to his chest and snapped himself back into a standing position. It was an attack that often wasn't expected, especially at close range with no momentum, but if he had missed or Vela had dodged he would have been at a distinct disadvantage. Smiling kindly, he offered hand to help the senshi back to her feet.

"Hah! Thank you for the kind words, it took much work to become mighty as I am. But do not understate your flames! 'Twould seem your strength lies in large battles rather than smaller duels. Were my attention divided amongst many enemies while trying to dodge your rain of fire, I would find it much more difficult to remain unsinged."

The page looked down to the street below, thoughtful.

"Shall we call the training to a close then? I do not wish to impede your ability to finish your patrol. There shall always be time for honing your skills, especially if you come visit my arena in the city outskirts!"
