Discord RP with Cornetified

Vilasini adored exploring Jahaur. The young hybrid perhaps was a bit too bold with how far she ventured into the more dangerous areas, the wilderness more obvious as the chaos of the crowds from Neued faded into the melodic sounds of nature. Today she was gathering some rare herbs to trade in the market and the best time for some of the flowers was right after a rainstorm. So while everything was still glimmering with drops of rain the girl was darting about the larger trees along the Alkidikes' territory which was admittedly further than she probably should have been. Still, all Vilasini could think about was her prize and not the threat of any radaku or menzuri as she peeked around some heavy foliage and reached for one of the gleaming leaves. The whole plant had unfurled itself from its tangled vines after the rain and the silvery leaves were a perfect ingredient for the more expensive teas that sold in the markets. Time to truly get some coin saved up for Rek and my future travels as a performer. She grinned happily as she reached out to pluck the leaves from their vines.

There was a comforting familiarity with being back on Chibale. That comfort even followed Vermina on her trip into Jauhar. She still wasn't keen on the trip, but one of the elders had mentioned being short of a certain berry that only grew in Jauhar. Having made the journey several times in the past, she had offered to fetch the berries herself. With Danika busy and their youngest girls getting lessons, what else was there to do?

Having taken shelter from the rain, she was now able to go back on her foraging hunt. She was crouched down in the thick underbrush, plucking berries and only idly aware of someone rustling around not far off.

Thankfully she had gathered a lot of leaves from that vine. Sini grinned triumphantly before holding the final piece up towards a ray of sunlight like a final trophy. Good deal! She secured her basket on her arm before twisting backwards, jumping and tumbling into a stance on the ground floor. Too bad she didn't have an audience to show off her acrobatics to! But rather than being disappointed Sini just gave a simple shrug. That was fine, eventually she would be brave enough to do an actual performance. For now though she was content to just gather some leaves and whatever else she could find that would have value back in the markets.

Of course that would have been the plan if she actually hadn't earned the attention of an audience member....a radaku that emerged from the brush and startled Sini into darting backwards where she tumbled into someone else while the whole pack of radaku darted by. "Ooops!"

The disturbance in the distance had caught Vermina's attention. She paused in her gathering to raise her head. That was certainly a lot of movement... It didn't sound troublesome though, so she didn't pay it much further mind. It was better to put her focus on picking only the best berries!

Well, then the noise got closer and she froze. Was that some earthling tromping around? The one sounded like radaku running.. Then suddenly, a body was toppling into her. She jumped to the side with a yelp, basket hooked on one elbow. "Goodness!" she gasped out, standing fully once the pack had passed by. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine!" Gasped Sini as the pack rushed by. The girl had found herself pressing up against the Alkidike and a light flush decorated her cheeks before she took a step backwards. "Sorry about that." She smiled towards the Alkidike almost sheepishly before letting out a sharp breath of distress. Her basket! Sini twisted around so that she could survey the area, her gaze widening as she realized she had dropped the basket. Oh, no no no! Her gaze watered as she glanced between the Alkidike, the bushes where the radaku had rushed through and the destroyed pieces of her morning's gathering. What did she do now?

"You didn't happen to see any silverferns, did you?" She managed quietly once she found her voice again though she stayed focused on the ground to try and hide how distressed she truly was from the stranger.

Vermina took the moment to let the girl's appearance sink in. This... was a hybrid.

Well, that was better than an earthling.

The young lady seemed quite upset with something though. "Silverfern?" she asked out loud, leaning forward to look down the path caused by the radaku pack. "I know there's a long set of vines among that patch of birch trees somewhere south of here. I have collected from there before." Her lips pursed slightly. Surely there was more to the distress than silverfern. "Are you sure you're okay? Did the radaku harm you at all?"

Sini let out a soft sigh. "They usually only sprout after the heavier rains...do you think they would be growing there now?" The hybrid shook her head at the question before turning back to look at the Alkidike. "I know it's a lot to ask but would you be able to show me the way?" She found herself pleading, her hands twisting together nervously as she studied the stranger. Would she help her? Sini was honestly nervous since she rarely interacted with Alkidikes despite her heritage. It wasn't like she had anyone connecting her directly to the warrior women and being raised by pure Shifters had made her feel mostly earthling to the point that she honestly forgot about her roots sometimes. Obviously her appearance didn't hide that aspect of her blood from anyone but Sini just didn't know a lot about them and their culture. Had her mother been an Alkidike perhaps? Someone that just left her because they decided they didn't want a hybrid after all? Did she have Alkidike cousins, aunts? So many questions that she would probably never get the answers for. Sini closed her eyes before opening them again and focusing on the stranger once more.

"I know it's a lot to ask but I truly would appreciate the guidance. I'm not too familiar with this area and the radaku destroyed the few leaves I had gathered..." She explained as she glanced towards the ground again with a frown. Even her basket had been slightly crushed. Sini felt her heart sink as she crouched and tried to fix the handle, her hands tugging at the woven pieces before trying to salvage whatever leaves she could find.

Vermina raised her nose to sniff the air. It would be the right season, right? "It should be there." It had been a while, but surely the area hadn't changed that much. After all, the berries were still there! The request for help made her brow rise. Admittedly, she took a moment to debate whether or not she wanted to. After the moment, she nodded. "It's no trouble. I'm sure the elders wouldn't mind a few silverfern themselves." Maybe she would keep a few for herself as well, and make some nice tea or something for her family. That would be a nice surprise!

Ah, so the girl had already collected some only to have it trampled. "The basket can be replaced. I have spare pouches if you need for gathering. I have finished here, so why don't we move along?" She watched for a moment before heading toward where she thought the plants would be.

"You're so nice." Sini blinked away the tears and quickly shook her head. "That sounds lovely, thank you." She managed as she tugged her basket back on her arm. This time she would make certain it was truly secured so no radaku could trample her belongings ever again! Once she had finished gathering her scattered belongings, Sini brushed off her leggings and stood so that she could properly face the Alkidike.

"My name is Sini and truly I do appreciate your help, miss." She gave a polite nod of her head before following after the Alkidike. "Is there a specific path to follow? It's my first time venturing this far and if the silverferns grow here often I would like to come back if that's acceptable."

The alkidike smiled lightly. At least the girl was polite. She clearly wasn't being raised on Chibale, but she had good manners. Vermina reached for the belt on her hip and unhooked one of the cloth pouches. "My pleasure, Sini. My name is Vermina." She held out the pouch and shook her head. "Not quite. It's more watching for the landmarks." She gave a half-smile. "It's honestly been a while for me, so I hope those markers are still around. It is definitely south of that berry patch though." She thought a moment and shrugged. "You are welcome to collect whatever and whenever you wish, I'm sure. Like anything else, just do not overharvest."

"Duly noted, Vermina." Replied Sini eagerly as she walked alongside the Alkidike. "So there's the berry patch and I noticed that tree over there has a large lightning mark on it." Perhaps a huge storm had marked the tree? It was crazy to think how destructive nature could truly be and even more startling for such a storm to hit the forest. Certainly there was always rainstorms but those were so common in Jahaur. It was one thing to have a muddy ground floor but another thing for lightning to strike and for thunder to rattle the trees! The hybrid glanced around as she tried to spot other unique features in the deeper forest though it was harder to tell with how some of the colossal trees started darkening the path, the clusters of faintly glowing crystals the only markers the deeper they went.

"Silverfern tastes nice and is supposed to be good for pain." Sini offered after a moment as she continued studying their path. "It's very popular with earthlings...does the same apply to Alkidikes?" Surely that was why the elders were mentioned maybe? After all having something to ease troubled joints seemed ideal for anyone, especially elder earthlings who needed the warm tea to help calm any aches.

Her head quickly turned to note the tree that had been struck. It would be an obvious wound that would take years to grow around, if it ever happened in her life. She nodded her approval with the hybrid's attention. "I recognize this rock mound here as well," she said, pointing to a small outcropping they passed. It had more flowers than she remembered, but the shape was the same.

"I suppose it is. It can be used for pain relief, but I think most just enjoy the flavor. It has a calming effect that works well for meditating." She cocked her head slightly. "I suppose pain relief and calming are similar traits though, don't you think?"

"So berry patch, lightning strike and rock mound." Repeated Sini with great attention despite the abundance of energy making her steps bounce. Visual things like this she could easily remember thankfully. It was only studying books that she struggled with but images? That was easy for the girl who constantly memorized movements and landmarks. Hopefully this was a good patch of silverfern so that she could come back in the future and bring a good amount back to Raisa to sell in the markets!

Sini pursed her lips thoughtfully at Vermina's comment before nodding. "I suppose so. It would be hard to meditate while in pain, right?" She offered almost teasingly before noticing how the cluster of crystals seemed to spread out again as the trees separated a little bit more and allowed some sunlight to flicker along the path. "I prefer teas made from fruits and the golden flowers though silverfern isn't bad, especially since it has more benefits." Sini admitted as she started noticing the more familiar trees that had the vines wrapping around them. Aha! So it did look like they could find silverfern here. Sini smiled happily as she darted up towards one of the trees, her fingers trailing over the smooth bark before finding the feathery plant. "Found it." She stated with a glance towards Vermina. "Looks like there's plenty here if you want some too."

"Some use meditation to ease pain, so I suppose it just depends on what the primary need is," she remarked, oblivious to the teasing nature of the other's comment. "It's especially useful when one doesn't have pain relieving items readily available." She had needed to pause and focus on a few occasions herself! Meditation was a key part of life! When she spotted the familiar trees, she felt a gentle wave of relief. It felt good to know that her memory was still functioning well enough. Plus, the girl was sharp enough to notice it herself. Good.

With a small nod, she knelt and plucked at a few of the plants further from where Sini was collecting. Just enough for home and to treat the elders. "And what need have you for this? You're quite young to be having aches and pains yourself~"

"True." Vilasini found herself fascinated by that logic. Rek often meditated whenever he was recovering from an injury so perhaps it truly did help relieve pain. I'll have to be more considerate of that. She noted before glancing over at Vermina. "Earthlings also have a lot of healers...do Alkidikes all heal or is that specific?" Now that she was actually spending time with a kinder warrior the girl couldn't seem to help her questions. There was just so much that she didn't know after all!

"I am." Admitted Sini with a chuckle. "Surprising, right? I'm collecting it for others who need it as well." She offered after plucking a few more and making certain to leave a couple here and there so that they could spread out again. "I work with an herbalist and she asked me to go pick some so she can prepare teas for clients." The hybrid continued along before pausing again. "I tend to do a lot of errands and even collect beans for a drink that we locals call kilfee. Have you ever had that? It's a strong bitter drink that earthlings love as a pick me up in the mornings." Maybe Alkidikes also enjoyed something similar?
