Lioe was stretched out on his belly on the floor, pencil steadily scrawling along the sheet of paper in front of him. He knew his sister would be coming home any day now, so he was contenting himself with writing out a version of his adventures that had happened while Zadia had been away. After all, who had the energy to explain what had occurred over such a wide passage of time? Certainly not Lioe. That would have been exhausting for him!
Yet, surely Zadia would have plenty to tell him. She would have a whole book of adventure from visiting Belrea, surely! That, and all the details about the new baby... It was strange to think he had a little sister now. After all, he hadn't been there for any part of the pregnancy. Not that he would have been of any use, but he already knew that the disconnection there was likely to lead to even further familial discomfort on his end. Why was their family so weird?

Since it was her time traveling on her own Zadia had been sent to Tendaji with an escort. Her mother was completely fine with the idea of her growing daughter flying off on her own; after all, Isaia was already apprenticing himself aboard a ship. Still, her father was old fashioned and tended to baby his daughter's more so than his sons. That being said her escort was Ujana of all people, since she was returning home to her own family, and it was on Isaia's ship so...was she even really alone at all?
The return trip wouldn't be on his ship, thankfully, and it would be with Lioe so the only bit of time Zadia had on her own was from Sauti to Tale. Still, having her family around was nice, even if it was annoying at times, and departing from them had been...strange. Seeing Isaia working for once and not poking his head where it didn't belong? Downright odd. She was both concerned for his coworkers and...proud?
Now that she was closer to the family home Zadia felt a rush of affection for it. She reached out to touch the familiar railings of the steps leading up to their tree house and once she heard her boots clicking on the porch she felt truly at home.
Raising a hand, Zadia knocked on the door and waited for her brother to come. She'd forsaken her more flowy garments for tighter dresses and a more practical hairstyle. As much as she liked her shawls they got in the way of work and the last time she'd worn one her anti-venom had actually burned through the material.

It wasn't difficult to hear Zadia coming. Lioe had gotten quite used to the sounds of the house now that he had it all to himself. The distinct click of steps on the porch caught his attention immediately. Stacking the papers he'd been writing on, he stood and meandered over to the door in time for the knock. When he pulled the door open.. he hadn't been expecting the rush of emotion he felt upon seeing his sibling. She wasn't just his snarky sister anymore... She really was growing into a lovely young woman. Had it really been so long since he'd seen her?
With his usual lazy grin, he stepped forward and pulled Zadia into a light but close hug. "I missed you," he admitted softly. As much as he enjoyed the quiet of the house, it had certainly been an adjustment from the chaotic full house he had grown up in.

Almost as soon as the door opened a rush of affection overcame Zadia. It softened the sharper edges of her heart and brought out a tender smile when she reached forward to return the hug. She wanted to give in, to bring him closer, but she valued Lioe's space too much for that. He was getting so big...and was he taller than her now?
"I missed you too." When she stepped back the hybrid lowered a bag next to her. It was small and filled with only the basics since she didn't expect to stay in Tale for long. "We all have. Oh, but I have a question I'd like to ask before we go back."

Was it really everyone that had been missing him? In his mind, he figured his mother had been too busy to notice he wasn't there... As usual though, he kept his thoughts to himself. He stepped back to hold the house door open for them, but paused with a c**k of his head when Zadia brought up a question. "You can ask me anything," he assured, his hand lightly waving her inside.

Her heeled boots clicked on the well worn wood of the home as she moved inside. Being back was like reliving her childhood all over again. It didn't smell the same, didn't even really look the same now that everyone wasn't living here, but there was just a familiarity that made it nice.
"When we go to Belrea, how about you and I get a place together? I know the plan was for you to stay in the family home with us, but...I want out." It was selfish, she knew, but Zadia didn't really care. "We're getting older. You've lived by yourself, Isaia is staying by himself on the airship, but I can't. Papa would worry too much. So, I thought if YOU would live with me then it would be okay."

Lioe watched his sister for a long moment. Honestly, he'd never given her position much thought. She had a point though. It really was more difficult for her to get out on her own... He'd thought that she'd have more space by now, but it seemed otherwise.
Of course, he had already been planning to leave the family home once he'd saved up enough for his own place. Moving back in with his parents was going to be rough after so much time on his own. As a matter of fact, he had still been tempted to call the trip off completely! If he could skip that whole waiting period though... His answer was a bright grin and a Lioe-level enthusiastic nod.

It wasn't as if her father was the only deciding figure in their household. If she pressed her case then her mother would have backed her up, but there was something about disappointing the man that weighed too heavy on her. She wanted him to be happy and if that meant going a few extra years with an escort then...she'd just go along with it.
"Oh, good! I've been working as an apprentice at an Apothecary so I've got enough saved up for a while. It's not much, but it should be enough to get us started." They wouldn't be able to afford anything too grand, but thankfully neither she nor her brother were those sorts of people. Practical and clean; that seemed to be the going rate. "Something with enough space for us to sleep in, your books and my plants. Sound good?"

His lips pressed slightly, eyes lowering bashfully as well. Lioe had yet to keep any sort of steady job. Otherwise, he might have had more to put toward this surprise house. He had been saving, but every low-level job was essentially manual labor! It was too much work! "I have a little.. from different jobs. Make sure you have lots of space." His smile rose faintly. "I want you to have a nice place, Zadia."

Not one to just sit around, Zadia pushed up the sleeves of her coat and started looking around the place. She hadn't expected it to be fully packed up so she already had a mental map of where to start to maximize her time there!
"As long as you're there it will be a nice place, Lioe. Who else can I trust to proof read my notes for me?"

His cheeks flushed lightly at the compliment. It was surely going to be nice having Zadia around as well! It was sure to be a nice middle ground between having a house alone and a full house with their parents and the baby. His gaze drifted around when he noticed Zadia's attention. Already? "Are you hungry? I can make you something."

She smirked. "Nice try, but we need to get started. I wasn't able to take off work for long." While they didn't need to get everything done that night they still needed to get things going and knowing Lioe that might be a little difficult...
Still..."Well, maybe a little something. It was a long trip." And it would give her a chance to rest up. As fashionable as heeled boots were in Belrea walking in them could be a pain on the most level of terrain. Walking in Tale, though? She was a fool for even trying.

He stuck his lip out in a faint pout but nodded as well. Yeah, there was still plenty to be done around there before they could go. He had packed a few things, but his earlier hesitations had kept him slower than was usual even for him. Just thinking about everything to be done was a little daunting... Ah! And then the save! He brightened up again when Zadia gave in and turned for the kitchen. Living on his own had required him to learn as least a few basic cooking skills. He pulled out some sliced meat and leafy greens to put together a couple sandwiches. Oh, right. He could have saved some more by not asking the store to cut everything for him first, too... "There's already water in the kettle if you want tea or something. Just needs to heat up."

Reaching over, Zadia placed her hand atop the nearest piece of furniture and set about taking off her boots. It wouldn't do to track dirt throughout the house, even if he wasn't going to be staying here for much longer. Once she'd slipped out of the fashionable things she set them by the door and slipped out of her overcoat as well.
It didn't take long for her to get comfortable and follow him into the kitchen. "Would you like a cup?" She would never turn down tea! It was Zadia's one true weakness. The alchemist in training made her way over to the kettle and delicately lifted the instrument in one hand. The other was placed, palm side up, against it's base. With a burst of magical infusion the water within started to boil and within seconds a nice, steamy whistle came out.
"Do you have any honey to put in it?"

"I'll have one," he replied and pointed to one of the cupboards to where the tea was stored. "It's where it always is." Though he had essentially made the place his own, most of the organization was based on how it had been when everyone else had been there. He'd seen no need to change where anything was. He nodded a moment later. "Honey's there, too. I'd like a little." He stacked the meat and leaves, and wrapped it all together in a corn wrap. "How different is the food there?"
