Wake up, Sheeple (3): A viral video: a security camera aimed at a door in a back alleyway. A dark-clothed figure looks like they are trying to break in. It’s almost comical in how desperately they are yanking on the door, and then, in a fit of rage, they take a step back and their hood falls off. The face is obscure and impossible to make out, and suddenly it looks like a lizard person. They attack the door once more and then scramble off with an over-exaggerated run. Is this it, real proof of an actual lizard person?? Is it a youma? The internet says it’s a hoax, and it’s hard to take it seriously anyway, even if there is something strange about it. It’s become something of a local joke; people have made memes about it and are dressing up as lizards and posing in similar alleys. And yet, there have been a string of attempted break-ins, with strange claw marks around the door handles.

After enough persuasion and out of genuine concern for Lani’s wellbeing, Runelucia the white fluffy guardian cat agreed to stay at home together with her as Kalani laid low for the while. To quell Rune’s restlessness, Lani has generally agreed to let Rune play with her cell phone as long as she, Rune, behaves and does not present herself as a nuisance for the while. Basically, Lani wanted to “rest” and that’s not the worse demand she could impose. That’s fair and all to Rune for the most part as an unwell senshi typically wouldn’t do well when thrust in conflict should any rise. And yet, Rune couldn’t help but think that she as a guardian cat was being slightly neglectful.

Admittedly, despite being assuaged here and there with Lani’s brand of reasoning, Rune definitely felt concerned that Lani was probably feeling that unwell, mentally if not physically per se… and that’s not to mention their blatant turning a blind eye towards the sense of urgency or nagging from forces beyond their control. Naturally, this unknown beckoning was enough to convince Lani that instead of being hypnotized by it, they should remain stationary in relative safety. And maybe, just maybe could serve as backup whenever their world should lurch towards some kind of end. Moreover, it’s also the time of year when a plethora of unusually spooky things happen (and this year, a mysterious illness has been floating around!)… so Lani isn’t fully wrong or ignorant per se that they best stay put at home.

In any case, Rune is now left with no choice but to relent, let Lani rest, and take upon the offer of using the device Lani lent her. These days, Rune was attempting to catch up on the latest video clips regarding the idol activities her senshi friend Tochi and herself share interests in. So, this is what she decided to do for a while. One day, while she was tabbing in and out of various videos of interest, something strange and unusual caught her eye.

She normally ignored video footage that wasn’t fully within the scope of her immediate interests, but somehow this one felt… different. For once, she decided to break her usual habit by choosing to watch this eclectic video. Apparently, it went viral as far as the overall video view totals were concerned. Ignoring the description and comments entirely, Rune pressed the play button on the video.

The video in question appeared to be a fuzzy security camera footage of a dark alleyway. The camera was panned squarely on the door, so only things could appear from the edge, and so it did. Rune squinted her eyes to stare more squarely at the shadowy figure that materialized and abruptly if not aggressively attempted to tug at the door. So far, that’s not too abnormal, barring zero context. This seemed nothing-out-of-the-ordinary so far.

Rune had grown somewhat bored of the video so she nearly tabbed away to a more interesting related video… yet, something caught her eye and she froze. The figure’s hood dropped and revealed an extremely realistic lizard head. Lizard head… what? What?!

Alarmed, Rune paused the video. “W-what in the world… is that a youma? No way… right?!” she exclaimed to herself. Yet, she couldn’t believe her eyes as she continued playing the footage.

The lizard (?) man-made one more comically forceful thrust at the door before scrambling away. It was an action most confusing, but the entire situation was almost comical. To her knowledge, youma don’t… typically get captured on camera that visibly, but who knows? This one could have been lax and in a hurry. Still… the appearance of a potential youma was a concern.

In the back of her mind, Rune had considered launching one of her rhythm games to pass the time, but now she considered getting a second opinion… even if that opinion was from the very senshi that tend to have sharp things to say.
