Reina thought she would enjoy traveling to Jatine. The sparkling city was surrounded by bodies of water, the cool breeze whipping around the group which was a refreshing feeling in comparison to the dry desert winds of Sulburi, and there were so many new things to do! You could take a small boat out along the lakes, actually go swimming in the lakes or even just enjoy a day along the shore. The city itself was massive with shopping, a dancing hall, xaraan racing and so many other things! The royal family had their own estate along one of the larger lakes and the building itself was very impressive. Even though Reina was constantly in and out of the palace in Sulburi the young woman had grown so accustomed to basically living there that she hadn’t paid it any mind. This place, however, was something completely new and she loved how majestic it looked against the glimmering background of the lake. Since Naevius was suddenly pulled away for business in Sulburi, Reina had opted to tag along instead so that the young princess could stay here a bit longer. It was nice to be away from the capital for a little bit after all.
Still, even Reina had her limits. The constant pressure of the guards watching over them whenever they left the house to walk along the lake or go deeper into Jatine was tiring and so when Reina thought Hana would be taking a rest, the young woman grabbed a basket of pastries and a blanket so that she could slip away from the guards and enjoy an afternoon by herself along the shore.

Hanaeko had been sitting on her bed in her room. She'd been told to take a nap but THAT wasn't going to happen. She had hated that her Mom had to leave, it was something she had been looking forward to for awhile. At least Miss Reina came with them. Miss Reina was one of her brothers good friends and as such Hana had been able to get to know her a little and thought the older girl was pretty cool. She was excited to be able to spend some time with her if she wasn't able to spend it with her Mom. It was while she was supposed to be napping that she saw Miss Reina walking outside with what looked like picnic stuff. Smiling she decided to slip out of her door quietly and follow. It took as much as she could to not make much noise and alert her guards that she was leaving but she was able to. With a small giggle once she left the house, she followed the direction she had seen Miss Reina go.

Reina had been walking along for a good few minutes when she heard the first hint that someone was following her. The young woman stiffened for a second before continuing along as if nothing had bothered her, the basket swinging from the crook of her arm. Eventually the house was out of sight and it was then, just around a grove of trees, that Reina turned on her heel and dropped into a defensive pose. "Hold it!" She called out, not certain of who or what was following her at this point, but her guard dropped when she noticed the familiar youngling that was trailing behind her. Oh! Reina's gaze widened with surprise as she lowered her arms and gave a respectful nod to the little princess. "I'm sorry! I thought you were sleeping so I wasn't certain who was behind me....wait a second." Reina glanced quickly around to see if there were any guards following them, but thankfully no one else was in sight. "Why are you out here by yourself?" It was dangerous to just be out and about by herself! Reina let out a sigh as she surveyed the area one more time just to make certain there wasn't anyone else around. It was one thing if she sneaked out but the princess as well?

The young girl jumped when she rounded the corner and had been called out by Miss Reina. A small 'eeek' escaped her before she settled down and looked like nothing had happened. "How can I sleep when there's so much to do here! Besides, I'm not tired. The real question is why are you out here by yourself?" Hana asked, acting as if she were the older one in this situation. Miss Reina didn't need to know that she slipped out without the guards right? Sometimes they just trailed behind so maybe she could just claim they were there...maybe.

A slight flush decorated Reina's cheeks as she was suddenly the one being questioned. "Simple. I'm not the one in need of a guard." She replied finally as she lifted her shoulders back proudly. "It should be fine for me to venture out on my own." After all she wasn't royalty or anyone of known importance like Hana was. Maybe that was why she felt sheepish always being guarded while they were in Jatine? It was one thing to be in the palace and another to be on vacation with constant supervision. As it was a sigh left her lips. They were already so far out..."I suppose it would be a hassle though to go all the way back to the house now." She mused with a thoughtful glance towards the princess.

Hana smiled up at the older girl. "Are you sure though?" She knew Reina had trained though she wasn't aware as to what she trained in. "I suppose it will be okay." Reina was right though, she didn't want to go back and get any of the guards either. "So what's the plan for this afternoon then Miss Reina?" She turned towards the direction Reina had been going. "Are you going to the lake? I love going to the lake! Lets go!" And without so much as a confirmation started skipping towards the lake and humming a soft tune.

Reina pursed her lips before giving a firm nod. Of course she was certain! Just because she hadn't decided on a weapon yet didn't mean she wasn't capable of fighting. So far she had been trained in the lance, the bow, swords and even hand to hand combat. The only thing she was missing was well...riding. The dreaded lessons of trying to balance on a xaraan or janarim just made her cringe. It was simply too frustrating to try to balance on one with a large weapon in the other hand! Not that Reina would admit that out loud so she always kept her mouth shut and just did her best to endure the lessons.
"The plan? Well it was to enjoy a quiet afternoon by the lake." Admitted Reina as Hana already skipped ahead of her. A quiet afternoon by myself....that was. Still, she could only shake her head with a small smile as she followed along after the youngling. "Careful that you watch your step around the edges! The rocks will be slick!" She called out as they moved along, the wilderness becoming more obvious as they left the city and walked towards the edges of the lake, the area more private since it was located towards the back of the estate and away from the public eye.

Reina's warning might as well of fallen on deaf ears. It wasn't that Hanaeko didn't hear her, she did. It was just that she knew it would be fine. She was agile enough on her feet she thought. "They're not that slick!" She said as she started to reach the lake. Looking around, she spotted a sandy spot and made her way over. Hana settled down on the sand and started making a sand castle. "Do you like it here in Jatine?" She asked. Hana knew she did when they were able to come here. They hadn't been able to come very often but she definitely enjoyed it when they did.

Hana was going to be the death of her. Why yes milady, your daughter did jump onto a pile of dangerous rocks and slip into the lake. Oh? Why weren't the guards around? I uh decided to take a solo trip with just your daughter tagging along... Reina closed her eyes and let out a frustrated sigh before joining the young princess on the sands. At least she had made it safely over and neither of them had to unexpectedly go swimming right now. Reina laid out the blanket and set the basket on top of it before going over to join Hana on the sand. "It's pretty." Admitted Reina with a small smile as she watched the youngling making a sand castle. "Sulburi has its charms but it doesn't have as much water and I do enjoy swimming." She admitted as her gaze swept over the gleaming waters of the lake. "What about you, princess? Do you like coming to Jatine?"

Again she smiled as her sand castle was complimented. "Thank you." Hana said politely. "I enjoy swimming too but we don't get to do it often. Like we don't get to come here often because my parents are often working. I think I've only been here maybe twice? Once my parents told me about when I was really little and I don't remember it. But the last time my Daddy brought me here when my Momma had to be in a lot of meetings." She knew her parents were often busy and it didn't bother her but she did miss them sometimes. It was why she had been looking so forward to this trip with her Momma but she'd try to make the best of it anyway. "I wish they were here...apparently this is where my parents met!" Hana said, letting out a fact that not many knew.

"Oh? I didn't realize this was where your parents had met." Reina replied with interest. She hadn't heard much about the love story between Nic's parents but here was a bit of insight. Jatine would have been a lovely city for a romantic story. Reina mused as she glanced about with a small smile. She did feel sad for the princess though since it did seem like her parents were constantly busy. At least Nicias had Reina for company growing up...the very thought made Reina's gaze soften. Even if Hana could be a bit spoiled surely she did get lonely some days, right? "Maybe in a couple of years Nicias and I can bring you here with us even if your parents are busy?" She offered finally with a smile. "We can find a lot of things to do together, okay?" Maybe that at least would help brighten the youngling's mood.

"Mhmm. My mommy told me about it." Hanaeko had always thought her parents love was amazing and asked about their love story multiple times. Nae had always given her the sappy story and always left out the fact that they were an arranged marriage and the love she had before she had met Vasili. With the knowledge she did have, Hana thought her parents were amazing and, as most young girls did, hoped one day she would marry a prince! The knowledge that their family and people were the only ones that held any sort of ruling line was too much above her care for the time being. Upon Reina's offer of her and her brother bringing her, Hanaeko's face lit up and she turned towards Reina. "Are you for real? I think that would be awesome! I miss Nicky when he travels but I'd really like to get to travel with him! And you too of course. I like being with you, you're so cool. And Nicky likes having you around too." She said in a matter of fact tone.

A laugh escaped Reina's lips and she gave a nod. "Thanks for that." She teased lightly as she reached over to pat some sand into place on the little castle that Hana was making. "I mean it though. Surely we can travel here at least once or twice in the warmer months. It's nice to get some cool air during those times." The very heat of summer always made her skin feel sticky when she was inside the palace during summer. Even the large structure that was built to resist heat couldn't keep out that desert sun when it was at its hottest. Reina smiled as she finished patting the one side of the sandcastle into shape. "It probably needs a moat, right? I hear older castles around water had moats full of dangerous creatures to keep unwanted visitors away."

"That would be so much fun!" Hana said excitedly. She could only imagine being able to come back here even more often. She loved getting to play in the water. She couldn't wait until she was old like Nicias to be able to travel to Matori and go to the ocean there! Smiling once again as Reina started helping her on her sandcastle, her expression turned thoughtful. "They did?" SHe thought about large castles with water around them with dangerous creatures in them. "But what if one of the people who lived there got locked out?....I guess they would just have to be careful that they made it home on time right?" Hana used her finger to start a circle that went all the way around her sandcastle. "Like that?" She asked Reina questioningly.

"It brings a new meaning to bedtime." Teased Reina with a chuckle. "You definitely would have to listen if there was a dangerous moat involved, right?" No more protesting when it was time to sleep for sure! Or maybe not? Either way Reina was amused by the idea even though there surely would be soldiers or someone around to lower the bridge whenever necessary. The teen watched as Hana made a circle around the castle and then gave a nod. "We could dig it out and then carry water from the lake to fill it in if you'd like?" She offered thoughtfully as she studied the sandcastle and imagined what they could do with it.
