This fog is particularly thick and difficult to see through; Destiny City has issued several weather warnings and cautions being out or driving at night. It’s easy to get lost and difficult to see obstacles. Not to mention the strange, smothering sensation of dread and fear that rolls in with the fog. While there is sometimes the sensation of being watched, it worsens when the sun goes down. Some have even said they’ve caught glimpses of a tall, horned figure traveling with the fog. The news has reported that this is probably just a side effect of climate change and suspects that weather patterns should return to normal towards the end of the month. Senshi Actaea was near her home at the edge of town as she watched the fog rolling in from what seemed like nowhere, her family lived on a large farm outside of the city and that was the way she liked it. She was worried though what was this fog and what might be roaming around in it. She was already powered up and planning to head to the city but she hadn't gotten the chance yet and she wasn't sure what she fog would mean for her or her family home. She felt like there were eyes on her as the sun sunk lower and lower in the sky.

Meninx, Page of Mars, did not like this weather. He hadn’t started this evening powered up, but as soon as that weird fog rolled in, he knew something was amiss. This didn’t feel like normal weather, and it didn’t feel right. He’d taken a jog to clear his head after a hard day of studying and work and wound up running right into more trouble.
Maybe.
He’d picked up on the sensation of being watched, and it felt like the more he tried to avoid the fog, the deeper he got into it.
He knew he’d seen movement, and he wasn’t really the sort to get anxious but there was something so much more beyond him than this--and it didn’t have an energy signature.
Thankfully, someone else did, and he found himself gravitating towards the aura of the senshi in the area.
He could hardly see her, but he felt her--and then, finally, a splash of color.
“Hey,” he called, and he wasn’t really good at being friendly but he managed not to sound hostile. “Do you know what’s going on here, or...have you seen something else in the fog?”
He’d rather be overworked and hallucinating than then alternative.

Actaea was surprised when she turned to find a figure she didn't know coming out of the fog, she still didn't know much about being a senshi or about the other factions. "I'm not sure but I think there is something out there and I don't like it." She grumbled looking out into the fog. "I'm Actaea by the way." She looked over the figure in front of her. "You aren't a senshi are you?" She asked straight forward. Actaea had never been one to beat around the bush when it came to anything. Besides if she didn't ask questions she would be stuck in the dark forever and that wouldn't do.

Meninx bristled, not at her but at the unease in the air. He looked around again and clutched his weapon tightly as if he expected something to jump out at any point in time. “Not a Senshi, no. I’m a Page. Of Mars.”
He seemed reluctant to give his name, but she’d been polite enough to offer her own so he relented and introduced himself a little better. “Meninx. I’ve felt like there were eyes on me ever since this fog started to roll in. We’re at a disadvantage if there is something in there. Are you going to stay out in it or are you headed somewhere else?”

Actaea smiled and nodded "Nice to meet you." She shrugged "I don't know much about the factions, I only started learning about being a senshi recently. Maybe when we aren't dealing with creepy fog you can tell me more about being a mars page." She said and then shivered looking out at the fog and seeing what she thought was a figure with horns. She pointed "Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" She shook her head "I don't want to go to far there is a farmhouse near here and they might be the target of the fog. Not many order members are going to think to patrol this far outside the city. I can't just leave them to their doom." She said firmly. She couldn't tell him that was her human family. She couldn't risk letting anyone know who she was in her human life and in turn putting her family at risk. She felt guilty nothing like this had ever happened to her family before she had become a senshi. She felt like it was likely that her powers drew in the darkness. Following her power signature to her family home. She grit her teeth. "You can go if you want to I'll patrol this spot and make sure nothing attacks the civilians." She said trying to sound more confident than she felt. She wasn't sure what she would do if the page left her on her own. It didn't matter though since she wasn't going to leave her family with this fog surrounding the house. She thought about leaving home after this fog lifted, starting a new life so her family would be safe, they certainly would be safer without her bring trouble home.

Meninx didn’t know if it was nice to meet her, not under these circumstances at least, but he nodded--until he saw the shape of horns in the fog. He bristled again and gripped his weapon tighter--not that it was going to do a lot of good. He could probably do more damage with his fists if he had to.
“Why would you think they’d be the target?” he asked, but he didn’t make any effort to leave.
“Are they up to dark rituals or something? Antlers might just be a deer.”
He hadn’t seen any that big, but he hadn’t been able to make out the shape of the creature. But, he’d rather cling to something a bit more rational than accept some monster was out there--especially since he wasn’t picking up any energy signatures.

Actaea frowned and then said "I don't think that is a deer." She couldn't say that she lived in this area, her civilian life was private and couldn't be part of her senshi life. It was hard to protect her normal life from her magic life. "Who knows why these creatures target anyone?" She said sharply. It wasn't fair. The city had gone through so much why couldn't they have peace finally?

Meninx cast her a look. “...You sound a little defensive.” She sounded sharp, like maybe she was trying to argue for the farmhouse nearby or something.
“Look, I don’t know why these things target anyone. Or why some cosmic power thought we needed magical powers to fight them. Do you know the people in the farmhouse or something, is that why you want to stick around?”
...Is that why she wanted to defend them from accusations of dark rituals?
He hadn’t spent all those years studying to be a lawyer not to be suspicious of everything anyone said and trying to connect the dots even without all the pieces.

Actaea frowned she didn't want to sound defensive but if she kept arguing she was bound to tell this knight that this was her home and family. Actaea freaked out then waved her hands around. "No not at all, of course not." She failed at lying. "Uhh, I better be going, hunting horned creatures in the fog, yea that's right.." And she ran off into the fog rather than talk to Meninx anymore. After digging herself far too deep as it was. Meninx most likely knew that was her family farm.

Actaea’s eccentric response only made him more suspicious and he eyed her frantic hands, and--the fact that she ran off--only made him more suspicious. She was gone before he could say anything, or try to pull her back.
He would have stayed to help her protect this place, but now that she was so suspicious…
Now that he was alone...
The fog seemed to thin, just slightly, and he could see a clear(ish) path out. He looked around--no horns, no monster--sucked in a breath, and booked it.
If there was a monster out here, he wasn’t going to stay out alone.

Just as quickly as the fog had arrived as soon as Actaea ran away from the knight the fog disappeared and there were no monsters she could see. She let out a sigh her family was safe for now and she had a patrol to get to. She headed towards the city perhaps with their magical signatures gone from the farm the fog would not return.
