Quote: Alien Abductions (2) : Destiny City’s had an overwhelming amount of reports of strange lights in the sky. No one can get anything verifiable on camera, and the few videos that have been circulating seem like they could have easily been doctored. There’s been a strange uptick in reports of alien abductions, but the City can’t seem to verify anything, and at this point in time it seems like it’s just people looking for attention. However, there’s a temporary ban on civilian-owned drones until this whole thing clears up. When Lepus had told the twins about the aliens at the outskirts of town, Nemu should have realized it would only be a matter of time before Sato would want to see for herself. When the reports of strange lights in the sky triggered rumors of alien abductions, she fretted quite a bit that perhaps the otherworldly visitors weren’t exactly here for peaceful reasons- even though Alise had said that the reports and the aliens were probably unrelated, and that there were no abductions going on. While Nemu would have liked to believe the older girl, seeing as she was both Satori’s ‘mentor’ and fellow (former) chibi senshi (who had been at this for longer than they had), she was also a pessimist at heart who would always fear the worst and prepare for her inevitable doom. All in all, it should’ve been predictable that Satori would power up and sneak out of the house, a couple nights after they first heard about the rumors. Subsequently, it was also predictable that Nemu would power up and follow after her, worried about the possibilities of her twin being abducted by aliens. Was this going to be how their senshi lives would go forever? Aomori was always sneaking off to do mischief. Hokkaido was always trying to get her to see reason and come back home… while being fearful of being eaten by a monster or some other terrifying creature of the night. “What are you doing? Lepus said that it was just a rumor, didn’t she? Let’s go back home,” Hokkaido pleaded, even though she knew it would ultimately be unsuccessful.

“Huh?! Aomori exasperated a bit louder than what was acceptable. She quickly clamped her mouth shut with her hands and squinted. “W-what are you doing here, Hokkaido?! I thought you were sound asleep…” Aomori whispered as she regained her calm. While her reaction sounded like a whine… she had a good reason for it! Aomori had listened to Lepus prattle about alien abductions, and while she stressed that they may be unrelated and are probably rumors… she herself hadn’t fully ruled out the possibility. Moreover, with the uptick of mystery and spooky things afoot, and disappearances at that, now’s not the time to grow complacent… at least that’s what Aomori felt. After all, all it takes is one teeny tiny misstep before anyone realizes what’s going on. By the time that realization sets it… it’d be too late. Based on this conjecture, Aomori concluded that she should at the very least take some level of precaution and get up close and personal to the possible alien sightings. Regardless, Aomori knew that Hokkaido would want to hear an explanation even if it was disagreeable… so after a brief thought (which was probably nothing remarkable), Aomori added, “Anyways… I think there’s more to this and that it’s not just a rumor. I know you don’t think it’s a good idea that we check it out… so that’s why I snuck out alone…”

"But Mama and Papa..." Hokkaido's default argument was always this- Mama and Papa will check in on them, find them missing, and worry. It had yet to truly happen, but there had been a few close calls, and with Aomori increasingly staying out late to get herself into mischief, it was only a matter of time before she got herself into some serious trouble. Papa was a very smart man, after all, and surely he'd notice soon enough... especially if Aomori got hurt. Though given how sometimes Aomori would come home looking like she'd been rolling around in the dirt, how could he not notice already? "What if they take you too?" Hokkaido whined, in response to Aomori's response. If she thought the rumors were real, then wasn't she worried about the aliens deciding to snatch her up as well?

Aomori listened to Hokkaido with a slight pout. It was a habit of Hokkaido’s to continually verbalize and wallow in her worries, but in her opinion, this sort of dwelling was terribly unhealthy and a display of weakness that’s easily taken advantaged of. The kind of thing that allows bad guys and even (bad) aliens to get away with nefarious things. That won’t do at all! Aomori believed in exuberating a level of confidence akin to ‘faking it till you make it,’ except, well, both of them are powered senshi, albeit chibi senshi. This means, with their powers combined, they could heartily punch any alien that comes their way. Aomori was rather proud of her stubbornness and feistiness and wanted to do her best to convince Hokkaido that she too should harbor similar sentiments. It’d do her wonders with all sorts of things whether it’s through getting what she wants from the crane machine or deftly evading her sister’s traps and mischief. More importantly, Aomori had long made up her mind that she has no intention of being kidnapped whatsoever nor would she be known as a pushover, letting this reported alien sighting get the better of her and Hokkaido. Without further ado, she finally took a deep breath, placed her shoulders on Hokkaido, and intoned, “Hokkaido, it will be okay. These aliens won’t kidnap you, and with our senshi powers combined, we can punch them back to wherever they came from. And, as long we’re together, they absolutely cannot separate us. Ever.” Needless to say, it’s hard to tell whether Aomori’s bravado is convincing or within the realm of foolishness. In addition, it’s even harder to find Aomori’s words completely reassuring, since more than once, the twins indeed had experienced being separated. To Aomori, these details are history now- surely these two intrepid chibi senshi could do better staying together this time, right?

Hokkaido wasn't super sure if she believed in her twin's words or not, especially since she wasn't sure she could bring herself to punch an alien. Lepus might have taught them that the answer to everything was to punch things, and if that didn't work, to punch some more, but while Aomori might have wholeheartedly agreed with that line of teaching, Hokkaido... didn't? And what was to say the aliens wouldn't abduct the both of them??? And this was to say nothing of the last time they had gone investigating strange things, only to get separated... "We should still go back home," she insisted, pleadingly, "We can ask Lepus to check it out for us later, okay?" As much of a bad influence the older girl was, the chibi senshi of baku hoped that invoking the name of her sister's 'mentor' would be enough to reason with her.

"Hmmm.. if you say so, but you said something that's... not.. a bad idea. Yes... You're a genius, Hokkaido!" Aomori grinned, her eyes twinkling as she stared expectantly. "Like... we can go back... not exactly home, but we can turn around and... have Lepus join us!" It was clear that she hadn't given thought to just how feasible the sudden change of plan was, but she felt way more assured that the aliens most certainly and absolutely and without a doubt won't even try touching a hair on their heads. nyamomask sorry I just recalled how much of a gremlin she is

" No!" Hokkaido protested, panicking; when she had suggested that they leave this to Lepus, she hadn't meant for Aomori to interpret that as that the older girl should join them! If anything, Lepus joining them would make things even worse, because surely the two would enable each others' recklessness and cause even more problems. "I'm, I'm sure Lepus is probably asleep by now! We shouldn't bother her, but tell her tomorrow about it," she whined, wishing her twin would take the hint and give up on this (undoubtedly) dangerous venture.

"Mm... you're not wrong, but I recalled Lepus telling me that stuff usually happens at night like this..." Aomori pouted slightly as it was clear that Hokkaido was far from confident about this venture. Then, Aomori caught herself yawning. Aomori didn't want to give up on this outright, but it was clear that sleep and her cozy bed were starting to beckon her back home. "You know what... a "strategic retreat" is not a bad idea... and we can tell Lepus about it tomorrow. And, we can invite her to join us," Aomori nodded, mainly to herself. Mentally, she gave herself a pat on the shoulder for a well-thought-out change of plans. There's nothing wrong with "strategic retreats." After all, if she recalled correctly, the guardian cat Runelucia once advised the twins about it.

Hokkaido couldn't help but let out a small sigh of relief, having convinced her twin to see the error of her ways and turn back home. Yes, Lepus had probably said something like that before, and yes, Lepus had been the one to see aliens up close and personal, but that didn't mean Hokkaido didn't want to run into any! If there truly were alien abductions going on, it would definitely be safer to leave it to Lepus to handle, if only because... ... Because Lepus was older, and more experienced, and this had absolutely nothing to do with Hokkaido being a scaredy-cat, yes. Though, it wasn't to say that there wasn't a ring of truth to it! The twins had spent enough time with Lepus to where Hokkaido could loosely interpret the older girl's manner of speech, and gauge from there as to the level of danger; if Lepus said something was boring, it was probably safe... probably. But, also, just having her 'scout ahead' for them would be so much better than allowing her sister to go run headfirst into danger, yes? So leaving this to Lepus was definitely the better option here. Yes, unbeknownst to them, they would have their own encounter with the aliens Lepus had spoken of in due time, but for now... "We'll send her a text when we get home, just in case," Hokkaido quickly assured, as a peace offering, "I-I mean, she's definitely probably asleep now, but if we send her a text, she'll read it when she gets up, and she'll know what's going on?" Aomori was yawning, and Hokkaido felt sleepy too. Staying up late just wasn't for her, even if it was supposedly part of being a senshi; she wanted to go back home and back to bed! "Let's go back home now."
