Quote:
Alien Abductions (2) : Destiny City’s had an overwhelming amount of reports of strange lights in the sky. No one can get anything verifiable on camera, and the few videos that have been circulating seem like they could have easily been doctored. There’s been a strange uptick in reports of alien abductions, but the City can’t seem to verify anything, and at this point in time it seems like it’s just people looking for attention. However, there’s a temporary ban on civilian-owned drones until this whole thing clears up.

Vaylin was out looking for information in her human disguise today with one her fellow cadets, Caelyna, she had heard rumors that were bothering her so she had requested the assistance of one of her colleagues. She had heard the locals speaking of strange lights in the sky and supposed alien abduction. She knew that obviously they were not involved but what could it mean. Could there be another extraplanetary faction here. There was obviously the Negaverse but as far as she was aware they were humans like the Knights and Senshi. She was worried this could affect the mission, if the Knights and Senshi misunderstood and thought they were abducting humans then any diplomatic relations could break down.

"What do you think Caelyna? It could be an unknown enemy. If whoever they are is attacking the humans then we should speak to the commanders about it." It was concerning. They weren't suppose to engage anyone on this planet but if other aliens were threatening there mission then surely the commanders would step in.

The idea of some third set of players in this complicated strategy game made Caelyna very uncomfortable, especially since this third set of players was apparently totally unknown. So, when Vaylin had requested backup to go investigate, she'd gladly volunteered; Velyria would undoubtedly appreciate any extra intelligence she could get.

"Before we bring anything to the Commanders," she said, "we should make sure we know as much as possible." That was obvious; it was why they were outside the dome and in their human guises. "If we are going to engage with anyone, we will have to be very careful." Her eyes, though, were on the skies, and she almost hoped they would at least get to see some of these alleged strange lights. Better to at least have some evidence.

"I agree." She said with a nod, Caelyna was completely right. This could be nothing so it was pointless to involve their superiors at this time. If their investigation found evidence of a threat then it might be another story but until then it would be best to keep the investigation small.

"We can ask the local human's just pretend we're foreign exchange students and we're curious about the rumors." She suggested feeling it was a full proof strategy based on her research.

Vaylin's suggested strategy made Caelyna nod.

"That seems the ideal course of action," she agreed. "Humans seem to respond well to being asked for guidance; perhaps it makes them feel comfortable, or powerful?" It was hard to be certain about such an odd species, which had so many strange rituals and beliefs. Certainly she had seen enough in the bizarre human "mall" to know that there were many, many things humans did that she wanted little part of.

But they lived here, and they would best know about anything out of the ordinary. Perhaps lights in the sky were in fact a common, ordinary occurrence here, and the majority of humans would brush them off, and it was only a few who made muck of it.

That seemed like a very nice option, because it was the one that meant that there was not another group here to heinously complicate things.

"Do yuo see anyone who seems an ideal interview subject?"

Vaylin nodded and began to look through the crowd looking for a way to discern which human was the most likely to have information. Unfortunately she was still learning about the human societal structure and she had yet to determine who were their wisest members. She spotted an elderly human woman sitting at a park bench seemingly observing the local fauna.

"Caelyna perhaps we should start with her. Elders are often more knowledgeable perhaps even they've had issues in the past with extraterrestrials attacking their world and she would remember the species involved." She said before she approached the woman adopting a different accent and more loose and airy demeanor.

"Excuse me miss, me and my friend just arrived in this city, we're foreign exchange students and we heard some rumors that strange lights in the sky are abducting people. Do you know anything about that?" She asked in what she hoped was a respectful and human-esk manner. "The woman looked up from the birds she had been watching. "I'm sorry what was that hun? Strange light? Oh my old Joseph used always go on and on about lights in the sky, bless his heart. He was convinced aliens were spying on him and the government was covering it up. I'd always tell him 'Joseph those are planes you're being silly.'" The woman continued to ramble on for a while not really providing any real information just anecdotes about some former partner of hers. Eventually Vaylin manage to delicate extricate herself and Caelyna from the conversation. "Thank you ma'am that was very informative." Once they were away from the elderly woman she sighed. "Well that wasn't very helpful. What about you do you see anyone who would be good to talk to?"

Caelyna floated behind her friend, doing her best to look as confused and wide-eyed as she could. Humans seemed to like that, the idea that they were helping someone who was thoroughly helpless.

The elderly woman they first approached, though, was...well. She was less than helpful. Still, Caelyna took notes in her head on what she said--there was no way to properly use her ComTech to take real notations or recordings here, not when humans seemed to have nothing even close tot he technology. Nextr time, she would have to remember to acquire a "notebook" and a "pen" for these sorts of expeditions.

When Vaylin thanked the woman for her help, Caelyna nodded along mutely, and then hummed, looking around.

"Oh, over there!" She pointed at a slightly younger-looking man, but still clearly on the older side; perhaps he might be a bit less...rambly? She could see a few others who might be interesting to talk to as well.

It would be an adventure, interviewing these humans; she expected it could take them hours. But if they got even a few fragments of useful information, it would be worth it.
