“Seems to me you drank enough for the both of us,” Hatsya glanced up at Prehnite, eyebrow raised and smirk upon her gloss-painted lips suggesting she was but a hair's breadth away from laughing at his expense. Instead, she simply poked his pink-tinted cheeks just to be annoying. Surprisingly enough, despite how much champagne he’d had, Prehnite was able to teleport them close enough to home to not have to call an Uber to taxi them the rest of the way. Impressive to say the least and fortunately because she quite literally had nothing to eat nor drink at the party, Hatsya didn’t have to worry about feeling sick herself. His own discomfort when he’d approached was enough to make her forget how uncomfortable it was being in the presence of so many Sovereigns. “So,” the Senshi of Swordplay paused to power down beside him. “What happened?” Voice melodious as she poked him once between two ribs with a rounded nail. The need to leave was so abrupt, and his excuse so far out there, that she was sure if anyone had heard it and took a moment to think what was said, they’d just shake their head and think he’d gone momentarily insane. “I know, that you know, we didn’t put anything in the oven before leaving. So, tell me, what did you do?” Sonia looped an arm through his in case he started stumbling over his feet as he did his earlier words, but poked him a third time for good measure. The look he thought to level her with, smudged and skewed for his own state of - well - drunkeness. He thought to wait her out at first, to ignore her insistent prodding outright. Except for how she'd very much saved his a**, and how he owed her for that. Reed felt his face burn at the thought of it. Twitched his head soundly away, scowled and batted at her fingers - "I drank hardly anything at all, and it was nothing! She overreacted..." and already he was telling. Giving rise to her sing song jibe and the jab of soft fingers at his middle. "..and of course the oven's empty...and off......." except he wasn't entirely sure, but no, if Sonia was telling him that there wasn't anything on in the oven, then there must not have been? He was simply very convincing even, that he'd managed to convince himself, which meant the others had bought it as well, which meant his snatching her away so swiftly from Benitotite hadn't been odd at all. It'd been a perfect way to bow out - a flawless escape - ovens were left on by all sorts of people, all the time even! "There isn't anything in the - no - of course not. I was absolutely, perfectly, polite. The champagne, however? Was most certainly not." terse little sigh, air blown through his bangs, as if that was the reason he occasionally saw double. "Thank you Sonia-" offered up genuine praise as he leaned in on her offered arm, more appreciative than words for the supportive guide to his careful steps towards home. "--as I was saying, the champagne? It may have found its way all over a pink bowed General. Just... alll over her.... completely on its own." and everything else that had followed. Wide emerald eyes for the sight of her covered in alcohol and every snack the place seemed to have on tap. There'd been so much frosting...

"You, polite?" Sonia visibly balked at the statement. "You'd have to like someone to be nice to them and even then it's up for debate on how polite you can be." She didn't even try to hide the grin on her face when Reed leaned against her. Honestly? She kind of liked seeing him like this. More of a conversationalist and what was this? Even capable of offering a measure of gratitude. It was AMAZING too bad she didn't record it as proof for later. Oh well... Sonia shrugged, guided him up the driveway then left him alone for a moment as she pulled her keys out to open the door. "Even if you did run away instead of help, I do think you should at least apologize to her." Offered her hand to escort him inside where he could sit at the table and she could get him something non-alcoholic to drink. "She had to be feeling embarrassed, what with the Sovereigns there watching." If she'd been in the Generals position, it wouldn't have mattered if the Kings and Queens were there, as Hatsya she would have either swiped his feet out from under him and knocked him on his a** or taken her own drink and dumped it on his head for the audacity of ruining her outfit. Seemed that the pink-bowed general had much more class and etiquette than either of them could hope to possesses.

"I have - impeccable - speaking mannerisms. My speechcraft is of the absolute highest caliber! Why is it people take such - issue - with the English language, must everything be some fresh slanged piece of..." prissed sneer, because he'd thought he was very polite. The most polite. Societally or otherwise... Snippish. Maybe, occasionally? But not impolite! Surely Sonia was referring to someone else, to something else. "Here I just thanked you - for being absolutely helpful - and you doubt my politeness. S h a m e." tsk'd little sound. The thought to be surprised at himself washed away under a film of, what had been absolutely high caliber champagne, and did the Sovereigns not know that carbonation sped drunkenness tenfold? Why did the 'hospital' opening get well tended bars full to the brim with bubbly, when nothing else had... "I helped! I pointed her to a lieutenant that could've helped. I even apologized - while explaining how she could've simply changed her outfit. It's not such a stretch to 'shift some energy'." soft scoff and roll of eyes, he doubted she was embarrassed, if anything she was in the way - somehow? Or maybe the floor had tilted? Or her dress-skirts, and why were so many of them besotted with such bountiful lengthy layers of... "Oh. This is my door." his door, his table, his, and he plunked himself down into the proffered chair at her behest. Found that the table was very cool indeed, perfect place for his skull...

A small undignified snort escaped her when Reed's head thunked against the table. "It's better to be a smartass than a dumbass. But it takes true talent to be both in the same breath." Hoped he didn't remember that comment come morning, consequences be damned she had to say it. "Perhaps if you didn't use so many uncommonly used words with the intent to confuse people or make them feel like idiots then maybe they might agree with your perception of being polite." Doubted it, but hey, worth mentioning regardless. Confident he wouldn't slump sideways and fall from his chair, Sonia placed a hand on his back as she walked behind him, around the table, and into the kitchen where she got a tall glass from the upper cabinet and filled it with cool tap water. When she returned, the glass was placed beside him. "Here you were the one supposed to be bringing me water, remember?" He'd left her at the table and was supposed to come back with something for her to drink but that definitely never happened.

Reed sighed, and waved what he believed to be praise off airily. How kind of Sonia? To be so complimentary in this - his hour of greatest need. He'd have to write up something nice for her. Buy something? Food, that seemed to be the one thing he knew she liked. Food, and eccentric lampshapes. Oh, and having a kind loving family from Spain. Except he couldn't buy her Spain...."Mmhmm, I am, exceedingly talented in, oh so many things. Pfff, the words aren't at fault in all this, maybe they, these ' people', all of the people? Should learn the words, I know, so they can speak to me? I think - I think - that's what they should do, and if they don't want to talk to me - honestly Sonia, what do I care. Maybe I don't want to talk to them, and this - the speaking? How cleanly it resolves all of that - how nicely silence abounds in a voiceless void." he couldn't be moved to care about people. To want for it, the conversations, their attentions, he could barely be moved to move his head up enough to watch through slanted gaze, to see where her voice faded in and out from. Slow blink and soft look when she mentioned - and no - he hadn't remembered. Hadn't forgotten, could never admit to that, so much as he could agree he'd gotten distracted. Which was very unfair to her, after everything. "Was I, ah, my apologies then. I owe you a water ---- there's the fridge..." hefty sigh against the grain of the wood, fascinated by his breath fogging over its surface as the words clouded together in his mind. "It's just, very, very, very far away at the moment. I do owe you a water though--just--remind me later, please?" whine inlaid in the apology, because he didn't like owing anyone anything at all, and a water was the least he could've gotten her, for all that he was taking use of her surprising hospitality. He maybe even owed her two waters now? Since she'd brought him one. Blessed cold thing that was readily drinkable - that didn't taste like candy. Champagne really shouldn't have been so sweet. She could've considered hosting maybe - if the swordplay gig ever bottomed out - he thought she was absolutely splendid at it, at least from where he sat.

"Don't worry," Sonia took a seat beside him. "I'll remind you." If not about the water than surely about the things he'd done and said. Not because he had slighted her. But to point out that he was still human- not some robot work-o-holoic that functioned better in the safe space of his study upstairs. "I could get used to you like this," The light in her eyes danced like a flickering flamed. Amused by his behavior and how open he was being with his opinions on some frivolous things. But others were points that gave hints to a personality he kept behind closed doors and defended with full watering cans and sharp-edged trowels. Communication was a weakness to them both. For him it was dictation of thoughts, where as her it was an emotional reason. Each were private in certain aspects of their lives but those doors might open in time. "Do you need anything else? Or should I help you to your room?" He seemed stable enough to sit up right and didn't seem drunk enough to warrant a trash can by his bed.

"Thank you" glassy green gaze that held earnest gratitude, crinkled with it briefly, as he traced the glass of water with his fingers. Now he owed her two waters and other things. That was three whole things he'd have to make good on. At some point, later maybe? "Hmm? I'm always *this* - oh - hmm..I think I need help to my room, that is. I'm deeply lamenting not installing a bedroom down here..or no..a bed..furniture? Maybe I wasn't ever expecting guests, one would think that wouldn't they..." confusion that bled into a forlorn glance cast downstairs - and then up the stairs - and then back at Sonia in a silent plea. Begged for commiseration out of it all - becasue he had never been anything else, so he couldn't tell what she was going on about, but his room? Oh yes, he'd need all the help getting there. Heaven forbid he have had enough foresight to make his home livable in all parts. "Oh-oh wait! There is a bed downstairs - hah- its simply outback is all? You know, because gardens, and they have those..beds? Garden-beds - I could simply sleep in the dirt. It'd be just as comfortable." moreso than the floor, and certainly it'd be cool, and damp, and full of life! Reed grinned for it, his pun, felt the joke was simply wonderful in all its plant based pleasantness.

Sonia pinched the bridge of her nose and let out an exasperated sigh. "You are not going to sleep in the dirt. Those poor plants won't be able to withstand the weight of you if you roll over on top of them." Should probably sleep with my window open just in case he wanders out there in his sleep... Would be kind of comical to see but the aftermath and fit he'd throw if something happened to his garden was something she'd rather be directed at anyone but herself. Best to just avoid the scenario if at all possible. Unfortunately, the bedroom downstairs wasn't a viable option either. "The bed that was in the guest room is upstairs in mine, remember?" He'd helped her move it up there before she brought all her stuff over. It'd been comfortable enough to sleep on that she didn't need to worry about buying a new one, thankfully. Supposed that he could rest on the couch but she worried he'd roll off the edge in his sleep. Nothing quite like waking up with a hangover by smacking your head on the floor. "C'mon," She rose to her feet and ushered him to do the same. "You'll feel much better come morning if you're able to sleep in your own bed."

“No, Sonia you’ve missed both the joke and the punchline entirely? Gardens have beds - plots of dirt that are called beds - that’s the part where you laugh? I’m sure it’s a foreign concept to both of us, but it was a good joke.” Self assured and also pouting, because he’d been hilarious if only for a moment. Sighed and let it all slide, exasperated for her exasperation, because really? It was a soft ball of a pun! “I’ll feel better once my home has enough beds for the people in it….that’s three reminders I need. Beds and waters, people too? Is there anything else you’d want.” Felt she deserved more than two waters, one favor, a third bed, and a friend to put in it. Felt he’d gotten carried away with himself, just a touch, for all that he was willingly let her help him along. Mostly because he knew stairs could be ridiculous things, and he didn’t want to traverse them alone, and technically she lived upstairs as well? So it was fine if they were both going to the same place! Rooms, hers, his…etcetera…

"Ok, yeah..." This time she actually laughed. "You're right, that did go a bit over my head." It didn't... but she let him have this one since it was probably his first attempt at a joke since she moved in. "Unless you're planning on abducting someone else from their home, then there are plenty of beds as is. I think it would be very cruel," again she poked him in the side almost as if she were trying to figure out if he was ticklish or if the action might make him squirm a bit. "to force anyone to live with us." Still felt like they were in the throes of a trial period; some days better than others. Few evenings spent avoiding each other and conversation for the sake of needed alone time; Reed in his study upstairs while she set up her laptop downstairs in the living room. Two beings existing in one space. "As for anything else I'd want..." Sonia leaned her head to the side in deep contemplation. Gave up on her insistent poking and placed a hand on his back to guide him towards the harrowing stairs. "I may need to get back to you on that." Anything that came to mind was either impossible, improbable, or simply stupid. "What about you," looked up at him with honest curiosity. "What do you want?

Reed squirmed, flinched, and swatted gently - often missing for it - at every prod and poke. A brief huff of sound that shuddered up as a chuckle. He tried to school it all down beneath a passive, muffled stillness, failed, as he tossed a look Sonias way. Which turned out to be a bad idea, as looking back and down to look her over, stole his vision from the very important action of climbing the stairs, an absolute triumph of motion. Even with her hand on his back to steady him. "I don't....I don't want anyone else to live with us?" But he hadn't - had he? He would never, never - and the idea that he'd forced someone to live with him --- but the way she said it. Except it hadn't been his ******** fault. Not his missive that had put her head on the proverbial chopping block, and it was all only temporary -- she could leave... Would leave of course, eventually, when she was done with him. When he was done with her. When they'd tread and trod and tripped all of each others triggers enough for the inevitable to send them spiraling in different directions. Caught his breath as he caught the railing on a step, and paid heed to the question that snapped him out of his own headspace. Slow-slow-slow set of blinks, and Reed didn't couldn't even begin to think on... "I......I don't want anything?" did he, had he ever, had wants ever come into play as part of it all? ".....I think......I may have to get back to you on that too." and he felt he could hear distant crickets chirping for how long he took a pause to say that. Crackle of static that filled his brain for 'wants'. Fizzed up like champagne bubbles to the surface of his mind and evaporated out his ears. "Maybe, we can put a proverbial pin in it? Or...ah...a team goal? 'Want's' - certainly it's something we could figure out together." nodded gently, as he moved to take on the rest of the stairs. Stopped suddenly enough to need the railing again, lifeline to the wood that warped gently beneath his feet. "Oh! I know - right now - I want my bed, that's certainly a want? Nearly a need even!" Reed smiled for it even, as if he'd said something profound. It was after all a great want, his bed, the familiar scent and feel of it beneath his hands. Succulent plush tucked deep beneath thin, flat pillows that he could roll into proper cushioning.

“That it is,” Sonia chuckled. “And you can have your bed once we get you upstairs.” Was pretty sure she could convince him to take his shoes off first but beyond that Reed was on his own. What happened behind closed doors, stayed behind closed doors. In the meantime she’d head to bed herself and keep the door ajar in case he needed anything. Grimaced at the thought of him throwing up and wondered if she’d have the stomach to clean that mess and instead prayed it didn’t come to that. “Ya know… I like seeing you happy like this.” Again with the poking because Sonia knew she could get away with it. “You should smile more.” Proud like a child that had finished a coloring page while staying within the lines.

Suspicious half drowsy look cocked her way, because he wasn't sure what could've possibly changed. Surely he wasn't that different like...well..partially inebriated. Except...."We should...maybe we should do this again. Not with them, not - not there, but?" soft humm, and the idea of drinks together over dinner, over a proper dinner. Well that all sounded just lovely to him. Sounded normal, a far cry from nights alone pouring over homework and eating half cold meals. Sounded good. Far better than it should have. Humm that became a huff as he swatted and missed, squirmed away and angled for finding his way up - and into his room, and if he just flopped face first onto his bed - lovely bed - good bed with a spot for him in the middle and flatass pillows that he could roll up into shapes. " 'I should smile more' - pfff..." tilted pitch, and yet he did, found himself doing it as he squirmed to try and become one atop his mattress. Some curled leaf of a thing.
