Læraðr hadn't visited his Wonder yet, despite wanting to have gone immediately. Life just loved to get in the way when he wanted to do something so desperately it hurt. But tonight was finally the night. He'd go walk around a bit, make sure nothing nefarious was happening in his area, and finally go visit his Wonder. It was an exciting feeling. So he wandered a bit, not sensing anything Chaos—but he did sense someone of Order, and on impulse, decided to seek them out and see if maybe they could answer a couple more questions he had. "Hey," he greeted with a wide smile, waving at her, "Nice to meet ya. I'm Læraðr!"

It was a nice night to be out, and though Caer was a little nervous about being on her own, she knew that she couldn't just hide away forever and hope that nothing else went wrong. That just wasn't practical. Besides, she had her Oath to consider, and while it wasn't a direct violation, she was pretty sure that holing up at home or at Ciel's and ignoring the war was not, per se, in the spirit of swearing to be a shield for the defenseless.
So she was out, and it seemed that whatever else she ran into tonight, she was at least running into an enthusiastic Page.
She gave him a polite smile and a nod.
"Hello," she said, offering a hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Læraðr." The syllables felt a bit unfamiliar on her tongue--Norse, maybe?--but she tried her best to copy the way he'd said it. "I'm Caer Sidi."

Læraðr looked at her a little more closely after hearing her voice and made a delighted sound.
"Hey, it's you! You're the one we all had that big fight around the fountain for, yeah?" he said, "I also remember seeing you next to Hyperborea during the whole... whew. Thing."
He chewed his lip a little, looking pensive. "Are you okay? After that night, I mean?"

Caer Sidi blinked, and then she smiled, broadly.
"Yes, I recognize you now! You came up to meet us, during the discussion with Caedus and Lyndin--and you were there, when that General tried to corrupt me?" She exhaled. "It was terrible, but...I'm alright. I wouldn't be, though, if so many people hadn't shown up to help."
It was an unpleasant thought. What might they have done to her, if she'd been captured?

Læraðr nodded, shuddering as he remembered that awful night. "I'm glad you are," he said quietly, "Not... everyone.... did."
The war had become incredibly... well, warlike to him, in that moment.
Watching that page die while he could do nothing pained him greatly.

"I know," Caer Sidi said, voice soft. Her expression darkened, and she looked down at the mark on her hand. It hadn't been a violation of her Oath, that poor woman's death, but it sort of felt like one. Though, of course, she had been ensuring that Chibis were shepherded to safety, and hype had bene the one to pull her out....still.
"I wish I knew who she was," Caer Sidi confessed, "but I'd never met her before. A stranger who showed up to help, and died for it."

Læraðr shook his head. "I don't know who she was either. All I know is..." He sighed, recalling the look on the face of that Lieutenant when the Page was killed. s**t, he'd looked practically ready to kill the Captain that had killed...whoever she was. God, he wished he knew her name.
At least she'd be mourned by people that knew her.
"It's nice to meet more people while not in a giant battle," he said lightly, in a terrible attempt to change the subject, catching the glance to the back of her hand. "What's that tattoo about?"

Caer Sidi nodded solemnly. It was terrible, really--she wasn't sure that she would ever know the name of the woman who had died so that she could stay Order.
But, well. At least Læraðr wasn't angry at her, or blaming her. That was something. And he was asking about her Oathmark! She perked up, and held up her hand.
"It's an Oathmark. I swore an oath, on my honor as the Knight of Caer Sidi, to protect those weaker than me and stand as a shield against the darkness. The mark means that it's magically binding; something my Wonder and the Code will hold me to."

Læraðr's eyes lit up as he listened to the explanation.
"Wow, that sounds so cool. How do you do it?" he asked, leaning in closer to her with a bright, curious look. "Do you just go 'my Oath as blah blah is to blah blah?' Is there like special magic forms you have to take or anything? How does it bind you to it? Is it like, say, an Unbreakable Vow? You just die if you break it? Or?"
He clamped his mouth shut, forcing himself to stay quiet for five seconds so she could actually answer all of his questions.

"Uh," Caer Sidi blinked. The rapid-fire questions took her a bit off guard, and she had to wait a moment to process what was being said before she started to answer.
"Most Knights don't make an Oath; it's a very serious thing that's tied to your power and who you choose to be as a Knight. I took mine in battle against a Negaverse officer, and I said--" She called the memory to mind, closed her eyes, and exhaled. "I swear, as the Knight of Caer Sidi, that I will not lay down and let harm come to any innocent person while I can protect them. From this moment on, I will stand for those weaker than I, and be their shield against the darkness." She opened her eyes, and smiled faintly. "I don't think I'll die, since I didn't swear on my life? But I suspect I'll lose my Knighthood, since that's what I swore by. I imagine they're very individual; my girlfriend, Hyperborea, has an Oath, and hers is very different than mine, but I can't guess at every particular and permutation."

Læraðr's eyes got impossibly wider. "Hyperborea is your girlfriend? She was the one who was there when I got my powers!" he said excitedly, bouncing up and down on his feels and getting closer to her in his excitement. He abruptly realized what he was doing and backed up a few steps, standing stock still.
"Sorry, I got, uh. Excited." He chuckled nervously, and rubbed the back his neck, wishing he wasn't blushing quite so hard. Or at all.
"Serious and individual..." He hummed, sucking in his bottom lip to chew on it thoughtfully. "Interesting. Okay. Sounds like something to think about, then, if I choose to do it."
He tilted his head. "I'm surprised to hear most Knights don't do it. That's... I mean, isn't the whole us being us thing serious commitment as it is?"

Another person Hyperborea had looked after--the knowledge made Caer's heart feel a little lighter.
"Yeah, she's really great. She's been there for me since I Awakened, too," Caer said, and she couldn't help but smile fondly. She'd adored Hype for a long time, loved her for almost the same, and now they were together, and it still sometimes felt a little bit like a dream.
"But yeah, I'd give it some very serious thought if you're gonna do it," she said. "Because, I mean...no one chooses to become a Knight. But taking an Oath is entirely your choice, and it's not right for everyone. Most Knights are just fine with the commitment that powering up and risking their lives every night requires, and it doesn't make you any less of a good Knight if you never do. Taking an Oath has to be something that's right for you, and no one else."

Læraðr hummed again, taking his hair from its ponytail to shake it out and retie it as it was getting too loose. Naturally, some ended up in his mouth and it took several tries for him to spit it out before he gave up and just swept it all back up in its normal ponytail with a hair-free mouth.
"That makes sense, yeah. And I'd like to think about it. I don't know what I would make an Oath over, if I did, but... I'm sure I'd know, y'know?" He twirled his baton between his fingers for something to do. "It sounds very serious. And... like something I'd do."

Caer nodded, as he spoke, watching him fidget with a little amusement. She wasn't a particularly fidgety person herself, but it was sort of charming to see someone else do it.
"Yeah, give it some though.t Mine was....a little spontaneous, but I sort of knew what I was getting into." She sighed, softly. "I was just so angry," she said, "at this Lieutenant insisting that there were some people who deserved to die. Or who didn't deserve to be saved. And I just..." Caer shook her head. "I couldn't let that go."

Well. Læraðr wasn't about to agree against the person who had made a serious Knight Oath for it. But in his opinion, though cases were extremely rare, there certainly were people who didn't deserve jack s**t of anyone else's kindness. He was wise enough to keep that to himself, though, and simply nod.
"I totally get that. And hey, at least I know what I'd be getting into now, thanks to you, so I don't do something totally stupid. Don't be surprised if I do do something incredibly stupid anyway, though." He grinned. "I kinda have the worst impulsive tendencies."
