Leaving the...Alien...block party? Pep rally? WHatever the hell that had been was...something of a relief. Keiko didn’t talk much as she and Belmont retraced their steps back to the park and when they got there, she let out a rather loud, long, frustrated and confused sigh. “What..the actual hell...I don’t. I mean. We’re all ********, aren’t we? There are aliens talking about...firing a laser or something...and we’re royally <********>...”
The senshi rubbed the bridge of her nose and blew out a breath. “Okay, so either we hide out on our homeworlds, and run away from all of this, or we start fighting better so we can...I don’t know. Not get dead when the aliens inevitably turn against us, steal our bodies and start a new life here on earth.”
That had been the plot of Animorphs. And The Host...so why couldn't it be something that actually happened.
After all...aliens were real.
“Do you have magic? What do knights even have? You said a...sword hilt? Just the hilt? Where’s the rest, Belmont. Why…”
No, it was rude to ask someone why they were useless...but the words were on the tip of her tongue. It wasn’t even his fault, she was sure but…
Now she was high strung.
...Aliens would do that to a person, she supposed.

Belmont still seemed like he was struggling to process this. Like--okay, because being a Knight and having magical powers--that made sense. Being a Senshi, even--that made sense.
But aliens? Aliens were really where his processing abilities were going to scramble?
“Personally, I don’t have any magic,” he said, and held up the broken hilt he’d been given when he became a Knight and shook it like he expected something useful to come out of it. Nothing did.
He nearly threw it on the ground.
“I’ve never even been to my Wonder. I mean, I’ve heard a little bit about it, but I’ve never tried. So I doubt there’s any way to hide out safely there.”
He looked up from his crappy, broken weapon thing and focused on her face. “What about you, you have magic? Is your world safe?”

“No magic? What’s the point of…” She gestured to his outfit and waved her hands a little. “All of this then? They send you into a war with a broken sword and nothing to defend yourself with? Christ.” Keiko looked so annoyed, even if she didn't know who they might be. But whoever they were...they were kind of dicks.
“I have magic, yeah. My world is...cold? There wasn’t much shelter that I could find. Some ruins...like, sheltered enough for a quickie up there but I wouldn’t want to live there unless I could have access to a fire and someplace to keep the snow actually off of me…”
Keiko glanced at him and sighed. “Freeze.”
She didn’t give him any warning but...the aliens might not either when they decided they wanted to take over the Earth rather than help!Kyuseisha no Hikari Freeze. Keiko draws in a deep breath after saying the name of her attack and blows it out, towards an opponent. The breath comes out a pale, icy blue and can travel as far as five feet away, in a cone that is five feet wide. The attack can only effect one person, and that person will feel a sharp, bitter cold as though they have been outside in sub freezing temperatures for a little too long. Once struck by the cold breath, the feeling of freezing lasts for thirty seconds. This attack can be used twice per battle.

Belmont gave her an exasperated look when she asked what the point of all of this was--like he didn’t know that he had a silly little outfit and a silly little weapon to fight dangerous enemies while handling huge responsibilities.
He was in the process of trying to come up with some answer when she used her magic on him.
He froze. Figuratively, and sort of literally.
“W-what?” he asked, trying to smack the frosty blue air away from him, but it was too late and a chill smashed down upon him. His teeth were chattering and he was too cold to think. “--W-what did you just do? It’s so cold! That’s not--not f-fair! Did you mean to d-do that?”

“Of course I meant to do that! That’s my magic. You were curious, weren't you? It’s not dangerous or anything, but it stops people in their tracks and provides a great time for someone else to attack or for me to get away or something. LIke, if we were ever patrolling and had to attack someone, You could smack them in the head with your weapon or something. We could make a good team if you’d be interested.”
With aliens around...it was good to get herself an ally anyway.
And now she was clearly friends with this Page, no matter that he was hitting on her. “We should exchange numbers or something, set up a patrol schedule. We don’t have to, but we should.”
You know. Since they were both slackers.

Belmont looked at her, obviously distressed; he was trembling as he tried to rub his arms and get some warmth, and his teeth were chattering almost too much to speak.
“Are you s-serious?”
How could she be serious, he could barely move?
...Although, that would be good to have against an enemy, he just wasn’t enjoying it now.
“I mean, sure,” he amended, but it felt like the attempts to warm up were futile. “--But I seriously need to go get some soup or something, it’s too cold. I can’t think.”
He was too cold to remember his own phone number right now. All he could think about was hot soup and grilled cheese, and being bundled up in bed.

Keiko nodded. “Yeah I’m serious.” She hesitated, watching him and shrugging, powering down to Phoebe. “If you want to go get soup, we can go. When you’ve thawed, and it shouldn’t take too terribly long, we can exchange numbers. There’s a cafe down the road. They have good soup and great cocoa. Sorry for just springing the magic on you.”
...Well, sorry that he was affected so badly by it...she wasn’t sorry for using it. And honestly, the fact that he was still cold made her feel quite good. Like she was getting stronger.
“Come on, Belmont. Power down and let’s get food. Clearly you’re going to be useless until you’re warm. I’m Phoebe, by the way. When I’m not Keiko.”

He seemed alarmed when she powered down and, afraid that someone might try to seek him out now that his energy signature was alone, he powered down too. The cold seemed to fade a bit, but shivering wasn’t doing much to warm him up.
“Aiden,” he introduced, and then hooked his arm around hers to try and heat up.
“I’m not flirting with you. Wow, you’re warm. But yes. I want to eat all of that, that sounds good to me,” he said, and shuddered as he began walking stiffly.
“That magic’s really good, I’ve never felt anything like it. I’d kill to be able to do something like that. I need to figure out how to get stronger, I’m not going to stand a chance against anyone if they can do that and I’m stuck with a stick.”
...Teaming up seemed like a really good idea.

Phoebe snorted when he took her arm and nodded, rolling her eyes just slightly and beginning to walk with Aiden. “I think it’s quite good. Now, stop talking and keep all your hot air inside your lungs. You might warm up quicker.”
Flirting or not, she was happy. It had been a wild ride of a night, but she had made a new friend and was about to get food.
There might be Aliens in the city but…
Eh. Oh well.
