A tizzy - that was what was happening. There were an awful lot of flustered individuals getting themselves into a tizzy over 'aliens'. There were aliens on earth, could you believe it? In all these years they had only met one of note and they were either absolutely delighted or absolutely furious. There were probably those with a happy medium somewhere but they weren't in her immediate circles and quite frankly... All she could possibly say was, well...

"Hello?"

Had they forgotten that literal aliens had existed since the beginning of time and were the sole reason that they even had their powers? She'd have given a very loud tut to several of them for being so utterly ridiculous over this entire thing, but she had to concede that perhaps a Mauvvian was now simply part of the furniture rather than something new and fresh. Nevertheless that didn't mean she was any less irked by the fact that they were making a mountain out of a molehill.

These aliens were not the originals, her kind were.

This was a hill she would die on. She would even broadcast it over every channel if it was still happening in a few weeks.

The only thing that she had half paid attention to were the remarks that they'd brought a giant weapon, they were intending to do some very strange things and a lot of things sounded like a 'dream'. She wouldn't say it was impossible, there were many things that seemed that way that should be classified as 'improbable', but she'd pick her battles for now while tensions were still high. This week's battle was still aligned to - Aliens. Are. Not. New.

She was ruminating over her next steps in communicating this to her beloved Order senshi on a park bench. With the exception of the odd little star on her simple nothing seemed amiss. To any ordinary civilian she was just a cat, but she did enjoy people watching while she pondered. Every now and then humans had a way of walking passed her and some of their remarks (though not directed to her) would result in an epiphany.

...They were a wealth of untapped inspiration and they didn't even realise it.

Caerynn

Today was to be Caerynn’s first experience out in the wild with the native humans in their quite modern environment. Having never had the opportunity to indulge herself in an all-natural planet, the Velencian was taking the situation quite seriously. They had to investigate the situation thoroughly, to ensure optimal performance was reached. They were to be cautious of something called a ‘Negaverse’, and teleport back to base immediately upon contact; they were also assigned to take note of their ‘Order’ allies, and ensure that their people could be protected from any betrayal, she presumed. Not that anything could possibly happen when Commodore Lyndin was personally leading this mission, but it was not unreasonable to prepare for something to happen.

Ensuring that her devices were all as powered up as they could be, Rynn had carefully checked every piece of her gear. Nothing would go wrong today. Nothing. She had selected her human disguise with care, after some information had been received in regards to modern Earth trends; in order to ensure minimal disruption and energy requirements to her disguise it would have green eyes and long dark hair not unlike her own. It, also, would wear pants, and boots. Carefully, the cadet had ensured that she took in her required nutrients for the day ahead, gathered her Source Stone, and she had made her way to the barrier, trying not to jitter with nerves. She had so envied the other Cadets who had stepped out before her; now it was to be her turn.

The sunrise, the smell of earth, and flowers, and human coffee, the joy of Commodore Lyndin’s pride in her, and his brilliant smile as she had asked about their planet’s senshi possibly being located here… None of it had prepared her for the thrill of stepping out from the barrier and making her way in to human civilization. It was… were there even words to describe the excitement, the anticipation, and the… Soul crushing disgust and disappointment that she felt. The world that she entered felt… alive, of course, she could not deny that. There was energy overflowing, and she was experienced with using her Source Crystal to collect at a reasonable range. But their buildings felt inorganic and alternated between sterile and filthy. In darkened spaces between buildings, humans dug through containers of overwhelming, filthy refuse. Their uniforms were so unique, and every body was different, but how could Rynn bring herself to be so delighted over something as terribly… confusing… as this?

Caerynn wandered as she dared, keeping an eye on the time left on her disguise, collecting energy with her Source Stone and making mental notes of where she went and trying to document her path with sneaky photos taken using her camera. It was perhaps after only two hours of wandering that she made her way over to a piece of furniture that appeared to be taken up by a feline. This did not seem to be uncommon; there were many of the creatures that she had identified, and it was also apparently reasonable to greet them as humans approached.

“Hello Feline,” she said brightly in greeting, “You are a visually attractive specimen, are you not? Aprproach, feline, feline.”

Settling down on the bench, traditional greeting complete, Rynn took a quick look at her ComTech. “There is an aura around here?” That was what the GPS said, anyways. “Are you broken?”

She had been poised to give her standard non-committal and thoroughly disinterested cat routine as the woman approached, but this quickly changed as she drew near. At first Rynn had seemed perfectly ordinary, she fit in nicely among the eclectic individuals of the city...and then she had begun to speak. If there was ever a way to rouse Namielle's suspicions it was to use such unusual language and then refer to 'auras'.

The Mauvian had soon lifted her brow, settling her gaze upon Caerynn for a short period of time before she elected to put the unfortunate soul out of her misery. If she was a betting feline (and occasionally she was), then she could only assume this might well have been one of the individuals a very irate man had ranted about when he returned home.

Yes, Namielle had not in fact been at the gathering and thus she had apparently missed all the fun!

"Might I suggest 'Oh! Aren't you a pretty kitty!' for the first portion of that sentence," she began with a wry smile. "Followed by a 'here kitty, kitty', if you want to draw less attention to yourself?" she offered. She motioned to Caerynn and offered a small shake of her head. She had no reason to bear ill will to their visitors regardless of how suspicious others might be.

"And I can only surmise that whatever you are speaking at is referring to me," she finished and raised both eyebrows expectantly.

Caerynn

The sound of a responding voice nearly made Caerynn jump out of her glamour as her head swivelled. First left, then right, then back towards the feline seemingly in a rest cycle on the piece of outdoor décor. "Kitty," she repeated the word blankly, and filed it away. "That, I suppose, is a modern colloquialism for Felidae." it came out more a question, though the words were phrased as a statement. "Of course."

She had not been made aware that there were talking felines on the planet... or had she? Had she been so excited by everything else that she had missed such important notes? It was, clearly, an 'order' aura according to her comtech, and thus she did not need to teleport away in fear. "I, also, believe your assessment is correct..." she ventured, squinting again. "How very odd."

Ensuring her Source Stone was safely tucked away, Caerynn shifted to examine the felid thoughtfully. "You seem primarily very well hidden. What technology is allowing you to speak? Or do all felines have the ability to formulate such words?"

"A fair question," Namielle replied and shook her head slowly. "But I am not in possession of any technology that allows me to speak, I simply have the capacity to do so," she cleared her throat and used her paws to pat the bench beside her gently. It was an invitation to sit, but whether such social nuances were a thing within Caerynn's culture remained to be seen - were such things normal there, or did they have some other type of etiquette.

"But I can at least advise you that not every feline has the ability to talk," she added. "The reason I can is that I am not exactly from this planet," she pointed out, her lips rolling up into a warm smile. A strange gesture on an animal, at least to some, but she couldn't safely perform her 'transform' party trick in the open and given she didn't know Caerynn well enough to expose herself this was the best she could provide at this point.

"I'm a Mauvian," she finished and gave a wave of her paw to the woman.

"But what would that make you?" she asked curiously. "Either you aren't from here, you're synthetic, or perhaps someone who has not necessarily grasps social nuances. All are possible..."

Caerynn

That did not compute, not properly, and Rynn's head tilted as she considered. But then the feline revealed it, also, was not a native species and-

"I do not have a complete grasp of human social nuance." she agreed, taking the out accidentally provided her by the smiling mauvian. An odd expression, and not one she would have imagined native to the non-human species of Earth. "I am a Human, called by the name Caerynn. And..."

And she sat. Her hair flopped almost artificially as she rested, and the Velencian tapped her fingers nervously close to her comtech. She had not been prepared for Extraterrestrial felines being among Order. Was the Commodore aware they were not the only non-natives here?

"Mauvian is not a species I recognize from my Earth le- biology classes?" She squinted at the other alien. "Therefore you are an alien, as I am a human. This is an unexpected development. Tell me more about your species, Mau- kitty."

She did her best not to smile or look bemused. If Caerynn wished to continue with the façade that she was human despite the odd choice of dialect then that was her prerogative. That didn't mean that Namielle wouldn't continue to pry just a little, but she would probably have to get a touch more creative with her line of questioning or simply let the alien speak a little too much...

"You will have to be more specific in your line of inquiry then," she replied smoothly, patting the bench next to her and moving just a touch to make more space for the otherwise tall woman. "Are you seeking information about me on a personal level, the anatomy of my species, my planet, our collective history..." she gave a circling motion with her paw and raised both eyebrows thoughtfully.

"And what do I get if I tell you my life story, hm?" she asked. "Will you share a little bit of yours?" she continued.

"The life of one who is not entirely comfortable with the intricacies of what others think of as easy or normal has always been intriguing to me."

Well, sort of... Normally she just observed them rather than pried, but when in Rome!

Caerynn was not good at human body language. She would do even less good with Felidae body language. But when the paw tapped the bench, Caerynn could identify that gesture- it seemed an almost universal summons, and the alien moved promptly and precisely to the exact spot that had been patted before she began to sit.

Why had the feline chosen not to completely vacate the spot they had tapped? Ah well; it was clearly not Caerynn's place to question. This alien had been around much longer than Rynn herself, and perhaps getting sat on was a rite of passage for Mauvians on Earth? Odd, but she needed to seem human, and thus must not hesitate... to sit on the 'kitty'.

"I would be very well pleased to share my life story." Caerynn agreed. "I was born Caerynn, and I am a carbon-based lifeform from planet Earth. I had two parents. They are not available. I grew up very healthy and met all educational requirements for my species. I am not employed. I have never had a companion animal."

She thought she did very well. The other alien would be absolutely fooled, to be sure.

"Please provide me as much information on your species as you feel comfortable. Environment, or social structure? I am very curious about species that are not my own human species."

Well, aside from the fact she had needed to scoot very rapidly out from under the alien, the cat also had a bit of a challenging time not laughing. It was safe to say that Caerynn might need to work a little more on blending in with others. She'd seen many people struggle to converse or fit in, but this was on another level. There were so many unusual mannerisms and her choice of languages did her absolutely no favours, but was it really Namielle's duty to educate her?

...She had heard on the grapevine they were meant to be allies but no one had explained why to her yet.

"Most humans are traditionally born and given a name, yes... But the carbon-based statement is largely everything alive on this planet is composed of that," she pointed out smoothly. Nevertheless she had promised to answer some questions in exchange and she was a woman of her word.

"We had one, and now we don't," Namielle shook her head slowly. "I don't know what happened to Mau, there are no records that I can find," she pointed out. "And culturally speaking everything that we were has been lost because we simply can't make that connection again," she added after a moment of thought.

"But we're all here for a reason and provided the Negaverse don't manage to kidnap and destroy our souls, that's to find and wake up all of the lovely chosen warriors from each planet," she smiled wryly.

"...And then hopefully keep them safe and give them all the lessons they might need, but that's slightly more challenging than just finding them," she admitted.

"So what did you study?" she grinned impishly. "And where?"

Caerynn nodded sagely at the Mauvian's confirmation that she had, indeed, identified correctly the appropriate ritual of being born and named. Humans did not, after all, start their existence too differently from Velencyans... it was the rest of it that was so... queer. Alien. "Indeed," she agreed easily, very humanly, "On Earth, all known living things have a carbon-based structure and system. It could be theoretical that there would be a non-carbon life form, but that would be highly unlikely. Indeed, even you are carbon-based, is this not correct?"

We had one, and now we don't, the Mau stated, and the alien nodded her false head to the other alien, holographic expression displaying sympathy. "Then you should simply absorb Earthian customs and adopt them as your own. As you appear not unlike Felis Catus it should be little difficulty for humans to be willing to succumb and share their own cultural experiences with your kind."

But then the cat inquired about what Caerynn herself had studied, and the alien drew herself up proudly. "I studied appropriate human things. Biology, and makeup and... males." That was appropriate for those of her age and gender presentation, was it not? "And females." she added. "And drawings." There. That was better. "And I studied them here, in Destiny City, at a school. That is where we go to learn such things."

"Would the study of males and females not be considered biology, my noble human friend?" Namielle teased. She didn't expect Caerynn to pick up on it, it seemed like her current companion wasn't necessarily familiar with that type of thing. Nevertheless, there was a certain amount of sport to be had by attempting to get the 'human' to willingly admit she wasn't everything she seemed - if Namielle failed, then she would at least give her some gentle nudging towards improvements for her facade.

"I was unaware that any study beyond that was regarded as an education," she added ad raised an eyebrow. "In fact the last time I checked, depending on the subject matter, it was very much an extra curricular activity," she smirked. She wouldn't criticise the make-up though, for all she knew make-up school was now something you could select in high school or college (most certainly some colleges) in place of something else.

...Destiny City did have a certain level of flexibility that served it well.

"And I just look like I'm Carbon-Based, we're very good at pretending," she announced, her expression rather serious. She certainly was carbon based, but when in rome!

If Caerynn could pretend, so could she (though perhaps not a well).

Would the study of males and females not be considered biology, my noble human friend? There were two important pieces of information contained within this innocuous-seeming query, and Caerynn paused for a few moments, her face grave and solemn.

Number 1: She had been accepted as Human. Her disguise was, thus, perfection; it would require only minimal adjustment in the future to accommodate personality traits known by the humans as 'quirks'. It was also of some note that she had been construed as a noble- perhaps her disguise was too refined and elegant? Nobility would not have a viable excuse in truth to be wandering the streets, would they not? Perhaps she would need to have her disguise altered to a different outfit. (Glancing down at her

Number 2: She had been acquired as a Friend. It seemed that such a title was easily granted, and among humans required no acts of service or kindness, no exchanges of intimacy.

"Biology would also include the study of non-gendered species," Rynn added with a smile, "I specialized my studies towards humans. Perhaps I will become a doctor."

However, her brow furrowed at the assertion at the Mau was not carbon-based. "Intriguing." she mused. "According to an article I had translated for review it was deemed highly implausible such a species would have evolved. Fascinating."

The look Caerynn gave the feline said clearly that now she was viewing her as a subject for experimentation and curiosity. However had this creature formed? How did their insides work? How did they survive in Earth?

"The world is filled with miracles and magic," Namielle responded with a dismissive wave of her paw. "To a simple human the possibility that anything beyond themselves could possibly exist is beyond comprehension, thus to realise that there would be not one, but two alien species on their planet would be quite a shock for them," she stated. She raised an eyebrow and fixed a very direct stare on Caerynn.

"Particularly when they don't know why they are here and what risks they may pose," she added. Her tail coiled smartly around her paws and she clucked her tongue softly. It wasn't fair for her to continue to play with the visitor in this capacity, especially if they had any intention of exploring further and learning more about the world. They would be spotted quickly and depending on who they were spotted by, that could be very bad indeed...

"Why are you here?" she asked at last and released a small sigh. "I know why I am here, but why would you come so far, hm?" she continued, her tone more curious than accusatory. Owe she could certainly take his ranting words for it if she really wanted, but she had always found slightly more value in at least providing others with the chance to put things in their own words first.

"Yes," Caerynn breathed dreamily, looking out from the bench where she sat near another alien, watching unknowing people pass by, "This world is a very splendid thing." The Mauvian's suggestion that Caerynn herself could be an alien absolutely evaded the disguised Velencian, and she turned wide green eyes on her companion. "Not just speaking felidae, but another species?" How fantastic! Oh, Rynn wanted to know all about them!

Caerynn was so confident in her disguise. She was doing so well.

"If the aliens are bad, we will stand up to them," she said with enthusiasm, "Because that's what humans do." she nodded sagely. "They say 'welcome to earth' and then PUNCH the alien." She had seen that in a moving picture while trying to connect to an inter-net and looking up known alien species.

Caerynn was SO confident, that when Namielle asked why she had come so far, she instantly replied with her human excuse. "I wanted a cookie." reaching into the 'bag' she had obtained with her purchase, she pulled out her multi-colored prize, displaying the M&M cookie to the feline with pride. "And a coffee. It tastes like hazel nuts. They are quite delicious. Can you eat cookies, f-" a pause, before she ventured, "I forgot your name, if you told me."

Namielle's eyebrow did raise at that little tidbit, wherever Caerynn had received that information from wasn't necessarily wrong but it certainly didn't do justice to the efforts of the more diplomatic elements of humanity. Regardless, her query had been misinterpreted or dodged with the young woman doubling down on her insistence that she was normal and that she most definitely fit in when it came to the citizens of Destiny City.

...Although depending on the time of day the cookie and coffee were fairly on point.

"You and I must socialise in somewhat different circles if violence is so quickly followed-up with violence," she mused thoughtfully. Not that she wasn't fully aware that some in her circle would exercise limited patience before that most definitely did happen, but that was beside the point at this point in time.

"Might I suggest to your circle of friends that they exercise a little more restraint?" she hazarded and shook her head. "I can't say I would appreciate being punched and I sincerely doubt our new guests would either," she purred.

"Such a shame I haven't met with them face to face yet," she sighed. "Perhaps in time I will have the pleasure of a formal introduction, but until then, I suppose I'll just have to keep up with my day job and continue to look for wayward senshi, no?"

"...And my name is Namielle, though most call me Nami."
