Pickpocket!

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

It's been quiet, peaceful in the world of Tendaji. Many have grown used to the new normal between the Aishans, the Earthlings, and the Kahikinans. Because of this sense of security, a few unsavory folk are taking advantage of the distracted locals.

A pickpocket is on the prowl in the marketplace, and you find yourself involved.

This prompt will be resolved by rolling 1D100.
1-20: Oh no! Something VERY VALUABLE was stolen!
21-50: While not majorly valuable, you do have an important item taken from you.
51-90: A small item is taken and you immediately identify the thief in the crowd.
91-100: Not today - you catch the thief in the act.

[ Each participating character in this WE rolls 1d100 and roleplays their reaction. You are also welcome to have your character reacting to this event happening to someone else, if it makes more sense for your character's plot.

Or, even better, maybe your character is the thief - roleplay it out from the perspective of the thief. ]

Being in a large crowd and being so exposed was a new feeling for Sarnai. But she wasn’t working and it was still daylight out so her wearing her smuggler’s cloak would just make her stand out more. The shifter sighed slightly. It wasn’t a feeling she enjoyed, that was for sure. Usually when she was in crowds she was behind a table or in a booth ‘working’ as a fortune teller or tarot card reader. Or smuggling something. She did have more than one job.

Today however, Inaza wanted her to go pick up something he’d ordered. Typically he did it himself so she was a bit surprised by the fact that she was being sent out as an errand girl. As she walked through the small groups of people, doing her level best to avoid running into someone when they stepped back at the last second, she ran her left hand through her hair. It pushed her bangs out of her face and threaded them into the loose ponytail that hung to the side.

She was just passing through the small space allotted between to groups of people when she felt it. The subtle feeling of someone else's fingers in her side pocket. Instantly her eyes narrowed and she turned her head to the right, looking down at the hand that was still delving into her pants pocket. A second later her gaze was following the arm to the person that said hand belonged to. When she came face to face with a young man she turned her narrowed gaze into a full on glare.

“The hell do you think you’re doin’!?” She ground out.

The fact that he’d been caught must have surprised them because the man paused and looked up at Sarnai with wide eyes. It didn’t last long. Whatever he’d found in her pocket was quickly snatched and he withdrew his arm before he backed away as fast as he was able.

“Oh no you don’t!” Sarnai called after him.

She reached out a hand and tried to grab hold of him but he was just a hair’s breath out of reach. She cursed under her own breath and gave chase when the young man turned tail to run. No way was she going to allow someone to get away with sticking their hands into her pockets when they clearly had no permission to be there.

“Get back here!” She was less than pleased with the fact that her simple errand had turned into a game of tag where she was it.

The thief that she had her eyes on tried to lose her in the crowd by moving through groups and around bodies but Sarnai knew better. She was a master at running away and through crowded areas when she was at risk of being caught as a smuggler. Sarnai could identify the tricks and didn’t fall for them. She didn’t plow through the same groups that were startled and would move directly into the pursuer's way without meaning to. Instead she went around them. It kept her right behind the young man.

When he looked back and saw she was still hot on his heels he grew more panicked in the face. Sarnai couldn’t help but smile at that. It served him right. However, when he took a sharp corner on the other side of a group she was forced to skirt around them and it gave him five feet of lee-way in front of her.

“Damn!” She bit out.

The chase still continued but she never gained back the lost ground. So when they reached an area that she easily identified as an easy escape for the thief she cursed again, this time louder. Sure enough the young man in front of her jumped onto a stack of crates then onto a low hanging roof and up and over the building. Sarnai had only a few moments to decide if she was giving chase or if she was done.

Seeing as how she didn’t know these rooftops and she still had an errand to run she decided to let it go. The object that the thief took from her wasn’t all that important in the long run but he could get a pretty penny out of it. Sarnai would simply have to check the fences later to see if her item showed up.

“Lucky brat.” The shifter gave a last glare at the rooftop before turning away and heading back the way she’d came. She still had shopping to do before Inaza got suspicious of her absence.
